Chapter Ninety-Two: The Long-Term Pact Plan
The headquarters of Qiyou was preparing to send some people to major real-game companies for study.
Lin Xiaoxiao brushed a strand of dark hair from her brow as she spoke.
“Real games? Does Qiyou have enough capital for that?” Yu Jia said in surprise.
It was not that she looked down on Qiyou; rather, the financial cost of real-game development was simply enormous.
News of large companies collapsing halfway through game development was by no means rare.
“So it is only for study, not for making anything directly,” Lin Xiaoxiao explained upon seeing Yu Jia’s surprise.
“The specific plan still needs to be budgeted by professionals. Only after the leadership confirms that it is feasible will production formally begin.”
“So it may not happen after all,” Yu Jia said, nodding to show she understood.
With that, the two arrived at the meeting room, found their seats, and waited for the meeting to begin.
The operators who had received the news arrived one after another, and before long the entire room was packed tight.
At that moment, Wang Fafu walked in from outside.
Today his expression was rather grave.
He stepped onto the platform and, without even the intention of cracking a joke to lighten the mood, went straight to the point.
“Recently, many small virtual game companies have sprung up within the Xiahua star region.”
“Though their relentless promotion has brought virtual games into the view of more people, it has still caused Qiyou considerable losses.”
“A great many designers have been poached by them with generous terms.”
“It has even led to a situation where one planet’s recommendation slots have no one left to fill them.”
“This has already seriously affected the company’s planning for the future.”
“So, from now on, the company is launching the long-contract program!”
As Wang Fafu said this, he pointed a finger.
At once, the details of the long-contract program appeared before every operator present.
After everyone had finished reading it, he continued.
“The long-contract program will officially begin on March first. The target group is senior game designers and above, as well as promising new designers.”
“There is no limit on long contracts for senior designers, but the number available for new designers is limited. Allocation will be based on the average performance of the designers under your charge.”
“So when you submit long contracts, keep your eyes wide open. This concerns what I am about to say next.”
When he finished, he swept a hand through the air, and the content on every operator’s virtual screen changed instantly.
“Damn.”
“Holy shit! A one-percent share of the profits!”
“Is this real? Does that mean our salaries are about to skyrocket?”
After reading the new content, the operators in the meeting room all burst into exclamations.
Wang Fafu was very satisfied with their reaction.
After letting the room buzz with discussion for a moment, he spoke again. “The terms shown here take effect starting today.”
His words sent the room into fresh uproar.
They were implementing it right now—just how many times would their pay increase?
It was hard to believe.
“However, there is one condition if you want to enjoy this benefit,” Wang Fafu said with a smile.
“I knew it couldn’t be that simple.”
“I wonder what the condition is.”
“Feels like it has nothing to do with someone like me, whose performance is terrible.”
At his words, the murmuring below resumed once more.
Wang Fafu did not care. He only continued.
“The company has set three benchmarks.”
“First tier, second tier, third tier—three levels in all.”
“We do not look at sales, only at game quality.”
“First tier: sign one hundred games with a replay rate above twenty percent.”
“Second tier: sign ten games with a replay rate above thirty percent.”
“Third tier: sign one game with a replay rate above forty percent.”
“These are annual targets. Once you complete them, when the year-end bonus is calculated, the profits from the games you signed will be paid to you as a bonus.”
As soon as Wang Fafu finished, the room erupted again.
Because of these targets, very few people present could possibly meet them.
The first two tiers were still manageable, but the forty-percent replay-rate requirement at the end truly came down to luck.
Of course, some felt disappointed, while others felt delighted.
The delighted ones were naturally those with powerful designers under them, who had no need to worry about failing to meet the standard.
Seeing most of the people below grow dispirited, Wang Fafu’s expression turned somewhat displeased.
“Don’t think it unfair. The company has given you the opportunity; whether you can seize it depends entirely on yourselves.”
“Spend more time giving your designers underlings some training, and the quality of the games will naturally rise.”
“To put it plainly, only effort brings reward. Wanting reward without effort is nothing but daydreaming.”
“All right, meeting adjourned.”
With that, Wang Fafu turned and left.
Yet none of the operators seated in the room departed.
Everyone was still discussing the matter with one another.
Some were even boasting to each other.
Today’s changes at the company were bound to split Qiyou’s operators into two extremes.
Yu Jia sat in her seat, watching all of it, her brows tightly knitted.
She felt that the company’s former peace was about to vanish completely.
“Let’s go.”
Lin Xiaoxiao rose as she spoke and walked out of the meeting room. Her expression was calm, utterly out of place amid the noise and disorder of the room.
Yu Jia stood stunned for a few seconds, then quickly followed.
...
...
In the blink of an eye, three days passed.
Yin Jian looked at the Qiyou platform, clicked into My Little World under the discounted recommendations, and made a direct top-up test.
He then discovered that in-app purchases did not receive the ten-percent discount from the recommendation.
“Looks like I’ve scored a permanent recommendation slot.”
Seeing this, Yin Jian narrowed his eyes, immediately exited the game, and opened his chat window with Stone.
You Forced Me: You there?
Stone: Yeah. I’ve already taken care of the online class thing for you. At the end of the month, just click this link.
You Forced Me: Do you still have discounted recommendations?
Stone: Anytime. Competition for this recommendation isn’t especially fierce right now. My Little World is doing pretty well on the recommendation, so it can keep being pushed.
You Forced Me: Put my other two games on there too. Set the discount at zero percent.
Stone: ??? Are you sure you’re not joking with me? If it’s zero percent, your games will be free. The other two are one thing, but one week free for Swordmaster will cost you an amount impossible to calculate.
You Forced Me: No. Do as I say. I have my own arrangements.
Yu Jia stared at Yin Jian’s reply, her fists clenching.
“What arrangement do you have, my ass.”
She had originally thought that when Yin Jian found her to sign up for the online academy, he had finally seen the error of his ways.
But now it seemed Yin Jian was still Yin Jian—just like that damned Swordmaster from Qiqi, he loved doing all sorts of inexplicable things.
Yu Jia rubbed her temples, feeling that sooner or later those two idiots would give her high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol all at once.
Stone: Fine! No problem! Zero percent, right? I’ll make sure it’s arranged perfectly for you.
After angrily dealing with Yin Jian, Yu Jia simply closed the chat window.
“When the online class starts, I’d better see what you and Swordmaster actually look like. If you two are capable of doing even one normal thing, I’ll eat my hat.”
Yu Jia clenched her fists. By then, she would let those two know that this operator was not someone to be bullied so easily.
PS: I wrote too quickly and ended up going off track. I originally wanted to evolve into a three-chapter beast, but it seems I should forget it. Two chapters may be short, but they’re sharp and strong!
