Chapter 19: The Evolution of the Furious Dragon

Liang Xiaoyu stood behind Bumblebee, pointing the camera forward, her eyes shining with excitement tinged with fear.
In her livestream, Kong was in the Dinosaur Park, smashing a two-horned meat-eating bull-headed dinosaur with a single punch and tossing away several velociraptors clinging to his back.
Ahead of him was the blood-soaked, low-growling Rage Dragon.
The two had been fighting for quite some time.
[Kong is so mighty!]
[Rage Dragon is so sly, it even summoned other dinosaurs for help.]
[The little dinosaurs it called are useless, more than a dozen have already died.]
[The streamer is awesome, not afraid of being killed.]
[Don’t you know? There’s a protective shield. Dinosaurs can’t reach them.]
[This scene is bloody and violent. I love it.]
Liang Xiaoyu ignored the barrage of messages. When she saw a terror claw dinosaur successfully ambush Kong and bite his back, she couldn’t help but cry out.
Bumblebee, standing outside, shouted, “Hey gorilla, get out of there!”
Kong paid him no mind.
Bumblebee had previously rushed in to mediate, as he had before, only to nearly be torn apart by Kong and Rage Dragon. This time, the two were truly fighting in earnest.
It all seemed linked to the changes in Rage Dragon; the creature appeared stronger and smarter than ever.
Bumblebee paced anxiously.
Liang Xiaoyu watched, her heart pounding.
Just as Kong tore another small dinosaur in half, Rage Dragon seized the moment, lunging forward to bite Kong’s neck. Suddenly, a sharp “crack” sounded.
A blue-black sports car screeched to a halt, instantly transforming into a Transformer wielding two swords.
Beneath the Transformer stood a young man in black sports pants.
“Are you done making trouble?” the man spoke.
His voice wasn’t loud, yet the entire scene fell abruptly silent.
Rage Dragon, jaws locked on Kong’s neck, quickly released him.
The swarm of little dinosaurs stood frozen, as if under a spell.
Kong whimpered softly, looking aggrieved.
Liang Xiaoyu was amazed.
She stared at the man’s back, her eyes ablaze with fervor.
“So this is Mr. Qiao’s true form?”
“He’s actually human?”
She quietly raised her selfie stick, only to discover her phone was gone.
Looking up, she saw Bumblebee clutching a bundle of scrap metal.

“You!”
Bumblebee shrugged, “Sorry, miss. I guess I’m a bit too strong.”
Liang Xiaoyu took a deep breath and looked again at the figure standing with his back to her.
She pressed her lips together, crouching low, intending to sneak over and see if Mr. Qiao had an upturned nose and protruding teeth.
But after only two steps, Bumblebee grabbed her by the collar and lifted her.
“What are you doing?” Liang Xiaoyu yelled, “Mr. Qiao, help!”
“Take her farther away,” Qiao Mian said without turning.
“Yes, Mr. Qiao!” Bumblebee glanced down at Liang Xiaoyu and grinned menacingly, “Miss, you can shout all you like, no one’s coming to save you.”
“You…” Liang Xiaoyu watched the distance between herself and “Mr. Qiao” grow, glaring at Bumblebee, “What’s wrong with you?”
“I’ve always been like this.”
“Aren’t you supposed to like beautiful girls the most?”
“I recall you saying the same thing to Kong. Please don’t flirt with me, miss.”
…
Qiao Mian looked at Kong, who hung his head in dejection, then turned to Rage Dragon.
“You two have really outdone yourselves,” he scolded, “I’ve let you squabble before, but now you’re trying to fight to the death?”
Seeing the bodies of a dozen dinosaurs scattered across the ground, he said, heart aching, “And you’ve killed dinosaurs, Kong—that’s a crime!”
Kong looked up and mumbled a quiet defense.
“Instigating others to gang up—isn’t that clever of you!” He shifted his gaze to Rage Dragon.
Rage Dragon whimpered twice, tilting its head to show its bleeding neck to Qiao Mian.
…
Though she now stood far away, Liang Xiaoyu could still see.
She asked Bumblebee, “Can they understand Mr. Qiao?”
“All creatures here can,” Bumblebee replied. “Mr. Qiao is the god of this place.”
“Is he really that powerful?” Liang Xiaoyu muttered.
Bumblebee folded his arms and ignored the foolish woman.
…
After a while, Qiao Mian waved his hand wearily, “Kong, I’m docking your salary for two months. Any objections?”
Kong mumbled softly and nodded.
“Go back to your post,” Qiao Mian said. “If you do this again, don’t bother coming back. I’ll find a more obedient gatekeeper.”
Kong shook his head rapidly, promising never to repeat his mistake.
He had originally been lured here by Qiao Mian, but after staying a while, he grew fond of the place.
He was alone on the island, but here, Bumblebee kept him company, he could occasionally rough up some dinosaurs for fun, and food was never a concern—he had grown used to life here.

Besides, Mr. Qiao had promised that once he’d saved up enough game coins, he could exchange them for a female Kong.
Though a bit shy, he was genuinely looking forward to it and had no desire to leave.
Watching Kong lick his wounds and depart, Qiao Mian turned his gaze to the dinosaurs strewn about.
He waved his hand, and the remaining dinosaurs slunk away, leaving only Rage Dragon behind.
Looking at the blood-soaked, pitiable creature, Qiao Mian felt a surge of emotion.
This being, fused from multiple animal genes, was inherently violent and bloodthirsty. Kong had always used it for physical training, so it was constantly scheming for revenge.
Today, as Kong came to the dinosaur park for dinner, Rage Dragon ambushed him.
Although it nearly got killed by Kong, the encounter triggered its evolution.
Its intelligence increased, now meeting the requirements to be recruited by the park.
Moreover, it could command other dinosaurs, nearly defeating Kong.
Now, Rage Dragon was the true king of dinosaurs.
“Can I hire it for free?” Qiao Mian asked Zero.
He wanted to grant Rage Dragon freedom to roam all areas.
“Do not employ illegally!” Zero warned.
Qiao Mian pursed his lips in annoyance.
He turned to Rage Dragon, “I’d like to hire you as a full-time park employee. Will you accept?”
Rage Dragon suddenly looked up, letting out a delighted cry, startling Liang Xiaoyu in the distance—she thought it was about to eat someone.
“In that case, you’ll get one game coin per month,” Qiao Mian said. “Your duties are to ensure no other dinosaurs harm visitors, and to serve as a sightseeing mount…”
Rage Dragon did not refuse.
As a member of the park, it could feel the terrifying pressure Qiao Mian exerted.
It didn’t care about game coins.
As long as it pleased its master, Qiao Mian, it was happy.
A slave turning into a long-term worker—such good fortune was beyond its wildest dreams.
“Rest assured, as a formal park employee, you’ll enjoy many benefits in the future,” Qiao Mian said, patting Rage Dragon’s head.
He contemplated devising a monster cultivation method someday, and getting Kong and Rage Dragon to practice—perhaps they’d even transform into humans.
The contract was signed quickly.
Rage Dragon immediately felt something new inside itself; its once muddled mind became clearer, as if rules had been etched into its consciousness.
It looked up at Qiao Mian, its eyes radiating a distinctly human reverence.
