Chapter 146: Visiting the Park
Just past eight o'clock, the park had not yet officially opened, and only a few scattered volunteers and employees were around.
Little Spider was peering into the forest when a massive creature flashing with scales suddenly lunged out.
"What is that?" he asked, startled.
"Python One," said Cyclops. "He is also an employee. You can communicate with him through Zero."
Before long, Python One arrived in front of the two of them.
Nervously, Little Spider raised a hand to wave and greeted the creature.
Python One stopped, nodded at him, and its massive body slithered away into the distance.
"He really understood!" Peter said excitedly.
Cyclops smiled. "Aside from Python One, there are also Kong, the Indominus Rex, and the Divine Condor. None of them are human."
"And me!" a voice suddenly came from behind them.
A yellow sports car came to a halt.
With a series of cool mechanical shifting sounds, it instantly transformed into the appearance of Bumblebee.
"You're a Transformer!" Peter said excitedly. "You look so cool!"
"Haha, you've got a great eye!" Bumblebee bent down and extended a hand. "I am Bumblebee, an Autobot from the planet Cybertron. Nice to meet you."
Peter reached out and rested his hand on the giant palm. "Peter Parker from Midtown High. Nice to meet you, Mr. Bumblebee!"
"Let's go. Where are you heading? I'll give you a ride!" Bumblebee shifted back into sports car mode.
Cyclops expressed his thanks and got in from the other side.
"What model is this? It looks so cool!" Peter patted the interior surfaces.
"Don't go touching me everywhere," Bumblebee reminded him. "This is Bumblebee's exclusive model, designed by myself!"
Cyclops opened his mouth, but ultimately chose not to burst the bubble.
"Oh, there's a person over there!" Peter suddenly noticed a woman jogging along the roadside.
Beep beep!
A car horn suddenly blared.
Li Xiaoyu had just turned her head when she felt a rush of wind hitting her face.
Bumblebee accelerated past her, the resulting gust blowing her hair accessory crooked.
"This guy!" Li Xiaoyu waved her fist in frustration.
Meanwhile, Bumblebee explained to Spider-Man, "That's just a coward and a troublemaker."
As Little Spider was about to ask further, he suddenly saw a mountain-like behemoth lying by the roadside, its belly rising and falling.
"This... this... such a huge gorilla!" he exclaimed.
"That's Kong," Cyclops chimed in. "He's in charge of guarding the gate."
"They have him guard the gate?" Peter was somewhat stunned.
He felt as though he had been given a heavy responsibility.
Bumblebee's left headlight suddenly flashed on, beaming a direct light forward and illuminating a massive dinosaur.
The Indominus Rex turned its head angrily and let out a low roar at the car.
"That's the Indominus Rex," Cyclops said to Bumblebee. "Huang, she's been in a bad mood lately, don't provoke her!"
"Call me Old Huang!"
If Bumblebee hadn't been worried that Cyclops might leave a few holes in his body, he would have loved to throw him out.
This mutant had zero manners!
"Sorry, Old Huang," Cyclops laughed awkwardly.
They often chatted about others in the park, and he was so used to calling him Ah Huang that he momentarily forgot to change it.
Bumblebee accelerated sharply.
"Alright, I've got to head back to pick up guests," the car door popped open, and Bumblebee said.
"Thank you," Peter quickly said.
"Haha, you're welcome. Just call me whenever you need a ride!" A robotic claw extended from the car body and patted the little spider's head.
Watching him leave, Little Spider withdrew his gaze and looked toward a nearby building that read "Ghost House."
"What kind of place is this?" he asked curiously.
"A haunted house. There's a ghost inside who loves scaring people," Cyclops said casually.
"A real ghost?" Little Spider felt a bit apprehensive.
"Of course." Cyclops smiled again. "Sadako-chan is very cute."
Cute?
Peter glanced over secretly, thinking to himself that he should find some time to go in and check it out.
"That building over there looks really pretty!" He looked in another direction.
"That's the Scripture Pavilion. It holds many martial arts manuals," Cyclops said. "They can give ordinary people the power to fight mutants bare-handed!"
"Is it that powerful?" Peter asked curiously.
He had arrived in a rush, and various sights had merely flashed past his eyes like flowers seen from a galloping horse before he accepted the invitation to enter the park. Consequently, he lacked understanding of many things.
Cyclops patiently explained it to him.
The two strolled through the fitness plaza.
"Are those people getting haircuts?" Peter looked curiously toward a corner of the plaza.
Wang Kun had set up his barber stall again and was helping a few people from the Divine Condor realm trim their short hair.
The fantasy park had a profound impact on these people. Even Huang Yaoshi had shaved off the beard he had grown for ages a few days ago, and recently Huang Rong had been trying to persuade him to get a haircut.
"Most of those people come from the ancient Eastern world," Cyclops said after watching for a moment. "They are very arrogant and not easy to deal with."
Although he had never interacted with these people from the Divine Condor realm, he could sense the condescending attitude they held toward people like himself.
On several occasions, he had accidentally overheard them referring to people of the same skin color as "barbarians."
Having received the park's enlightenment, their grasp of the Chinese language was no less than that of the native inhabitants.
This made Cyclops feel somewhat uncomfortable.
He wanted to find an opportunity to pick a fight with them, but these people rarely went to the arena to battle; in private, they preferred drinking, bragging, and practicing martial arts.
They didn't seem very enthusiastic about combat and killing.
"Nothing much to see here." Cyclops glanced around for a moment, then led Little Spider toward the arena nearby.
At this moment.
Inside the arena, two combatants were fighting.
To be precise, it was a mutant and a Transformer.
Magneto and Ironhide.
Magneto was levitating in mid-air, six artillery shells suspended in front of him.
Ironhide was struggling to inch forward bit by bit.
Every time it fired a shell, it would be intercepted and controlled by the opponent before hitting its target.
The two sides were in a bit of a deadlock.
Peter watched this scene, somewhat bewildered.
One was a powerful guy floating in the air, and the other was a menacing-looking Transformer. How had the situation turned out like this?
Cyclops explained to Peter beside him, "That man is called Magneto..."
Peter suddenly understood: "His abilities naturally counter Transformers..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Ironhide abruptly fired a blinding laser beam from its chest.
At the same time, Magneto manipulated the six shells to strike Ironhide.
However, before Magneto's shells could hit Ironhide, his own body was pierced by the laser cannon.
Magneto's figure flickered, and he appeared outside the arena, landing right beside the two of them.
"Lost again?" Cyclops asked.
"These Transformers possess immense strength. Controlling them completely is very difficult," Magneto said in a flat tone. "They are born warriors equipped with numerous weapons, making them hard to guard against."
"I heard that a few days ago, Ironhide asked Mr. Q if he could become human?" Cyclops said with a smile.
"Yes," Magneto replied. "A pity."
Peter didn't quite understand.
Afterward, Cyclops took him on a tour of other areas.
Every single place filled him with secret amazement.
However, to Cyclops's regret, when he brought Little Spider to meet Professor X, the Professor stated that the boy's superpowers were unrelated to the mutant X-gene.
Until evening.
"Thanks for your hospitality," Little Spider hugged Cyclops. "I have to go home now. You're welcome to visit Spider Valley sometime."
