Chapter 135: Xenomorph! Xenomorph!
Liang Xiaoyu felt a flash of light before her eyes, and the scenery around her shifted dramatically.
The lighting was dim, and the walls were a cold, metallic color, marred by mottled stains. The floor was covered in some unknown, sticky substance. A strange, faint odor permeated the air. She turned her head slightly to see the other seven people standing around her, all looking about with equal curiosity.
Little Dragon Maiden stood in place, her expression calm.
Her powers had indeed vanished. Liang Xiaoyu felt a secret pang of disappointment. She felt incredibly weak; she doubted she could even kill a dog with a single punch.
"This must be a corridor," one of the volunteers said. "The description mentioned weapons scattered here; we must be in the cabin area."
"But where is the cabin?" another volunteer asked.
"Keep your voices down, don't wake the xenomorphs," Little Dragon Maiden said suddenly.
Everyone immediately remembered that there were a hundred mature xenomorphs in this area, and they all fell silent.
Liang Xiaoyu looked at her livestream and whispered, "Are there any experts in the chat? Does anyone know how these cabins are laid out?"
[It's too dark, I can't see anything.]
[Rainy, you give us too much credit. If anyone knew that much, they wouldn't be living like the rest of us.]
[Go watch the movie, brothers!]
...
Liang Xiaoyu watched for a while and pouted. There was no relying on these people.
The eight of them conferred and decided to pick a direction at random. They would just have to test their luck. The sturdiest-looking young man volunteered to take the lead, followed closely by the man from the military. Liang Xiaoyu and Little Dragon Maiden brought up the rear.
Everyone moved with great caution, creeping forward in silence. They hadn't gone far when one of the volunteers in the middle suddenly cried out, "What is that?"
Following his gaze, they saw a patch of dried, brown blood on the floor. Lying atop the bloodstain was a black assault rifle.
"I'll go get it," the sturdy man in front said. He crouched down and approached cautiously. The rifle was positioned right at a corner of the corridor. Just as he reached the weapon, he saw a sliver of a pale, silvery shadow emerge from around the corner.
His breath hitched as he instantly realized what it was.
"What's wrong?" a volunteer behind him asked, noticing him frozen in a crouch. The voice wasn't loud, but to the man, it sounded like a thunderclap.
The sliver of silver in his field of vision moved instantly.
"Run!" He snatched up the rifle and turned to bolt.
At the same time, the thing at the corner revealed its full form: a xenomorph with a streamlined body covered by a translucent exoskeleton.
The man had shouted with such urgency that everyone else turned and ran by reflex. Liang Xiaoyu, who had been whispering to her audience, was a beat slow and found herself at the back of the pack. She saw the xenomorph's terrifying visage and its saliva-dripping fangs.
She turned to flee, but felt a sharp tug—the xenomorph had ripped the backpack right off her. Her scalp tingled with terror; she thought, "Am I going to be the first one eliminated?" Just then, a loud *bang* rang out, and the xenomorph collapsed to the ground.
The man with the rifle gave a smug smile. "These guns work just like ours... the weaponry of these interstellar people is too backward."
No sooner had he spoken than the xenomorph, which had been lying motionless on the ground, suddenly lunged and pounced on him. The man screamed, but his cry was cut short a second later.
Liang Xiaoyu turned pale. The xenomorphs were so cunning—it had been playing dead!
As she stood there in a daze, Little Dragon Maiden grabbed her and sprinted in the opposite direction. The others scattered as well; no one was interested in revenge. Besides, it wasn't a real death anyway.
Two others—a man and a woman—were running in the same direction as them. The man, named Liu Xing, was short and stocky; he had mastered a form of internal energy defense, but it was useless here.
"There's a room here!" he shouted in surprise, spotting a half-open door, and dove inside.
He had barely entered before he stumbled back out, screaming. A blade-like object was impaled through his chest. Liang Xiaoyu stared—it was clearly a xenomorph tail.
She didn't need anyone to tell her to move; she prepared to run. But just as she lifted her foot, Little Dragon Maiden grabbed her again.
"What are you doing? Run!" Liang Xiaoyu cried out in a panic.
Little Dragon Maiden gestured toward the front. Around a corner ten meters away, several silver tails were flickering back and forth. The girl who had run ahead had charged straight into the xenomorphs, and her screams followed shortly after.
"Stay close to me!" Little Dragon Maiden said, then kicked Liu Xing, who was in front of her. He tumbled directly into a xenomorph, and Little Dragon Maiden took the opportunity to dash into the room. Liang Xiaoyu gritted her teeth and followed closely inside.
"Close the door!" Little Dragon Maiden commanded, then charged back out.
Liang Xiaoyu saw several xenomorphs closing in from the distance. She looked at the door before her, completely lost. There was no handle, no button. How were you supposed to close this thing?
Little Dragon Maiden, at her side, kicked a lunging xenomorph into the air. "Hurry up!"
"I..." Liang Xiaoyu slapped wildly at the door and its surroundings. Whether by luck or design, she triggered a switch; the airlock emitted a long chime and began to close slowly.
Liang Xiaoyu was overjoyed. Looking at Little Dragon Maiden, who was nimbly dancing around the xenomorphs, she said, "Haha, I closed it!"
Just as she spoke, she felt a massive force pull at her feet. Her body was jerked uncontrollably to the floor and dragged through the closing gap of the hatch. She watched in horror as her right foot was clamped in the jaws of a xenomorph outside.
Terrified, she kicked wildly with her other leg, only to have that one bitten by another creature. The stabbing pain in her feet nearly made her faint, and she watched helplessly as the hatch vanished from view, sealing shut.
Finding herself face-to-face with three xenomorphs, she closed her eyes in despair. *Why am I so unlucky!*
She felt a piercing pain in her abdomen, and her consciousness faded into darkness. Before she lost awareness, she noticed her livestreaming phone was still fixed to her body.
...
Inside the cabin, Little Dragon Maiden watched helplessly as Liang Xiaoyu was dragged away, unable to intervene. Her own martial arts were restricted, preventing her from unleashing her true strength; she could only rely on her refined technique to fend off the xenomorphs.
Seeing that she couldn't save Liang Xiaoyu, she contacted Wolverine Logan through Zero and asked to be extracted.
A moment later, Little Dragon Maiden appeared unharmed in the park. With a few agile leaps, she landed on the branch of a giant tree. She pulled her phone from her jeans pocket and quickly tuned into Liang Xiaoyu's livestream, watching with great interest.
"Not dead yet, just unconscious," she murmured with a faint smile.
Through the shaky lens, she watched as Liang Xiaoyu was dragged back into the xenomorph nest.
A moment later, she frowned slightly. "What are they doing?" A flicker of curiosity stirred in her heart.
Should she take a screenshot later?
