Chapter 110: A Fiery Temper
Complete Annihilation!
Ten people reappeared at the entrance of the earthen city wall.
The moment Li Bankawa appeared, voices rang in his ears.
"Damn those devils, they’re so ruthless—just threw shells at us right away. I didn’t even do anything and I was dead."
"That's because you’re slow. Everyone else dropped to the ground in time."
"Haha, I took down one devil."
"Good for you! I took down two."
"What about the guy who was streaming? How did you die?"
Hearing the question, Su Ming sheepishly replied, "I pretended to be dead to ambush the devils, but one of them stabbed me. Those bastards are vicious—they don’t even spare the dead."
"Weren’t there two tough guys?" another asked.
Wei Liang stepped forward with a smile. "I'm a soldier, but I got careless just now."
"What's your name? Your marksmanship is impressive," someone asked, looking at Li Bankawa.
"Just call me Xiao Li. I like shooting," Li Bankawa replied.
"That last little devil was pretty sneaky—waited until I got close, then pulled a grenade, trying to take out two of us at once," Wei Liang grumbled.
Li Bankawa smiled silently.
After all, he was one of those devils they spoke of.
"Going back in?" Wei Liang asked.
Li Bankawa looked at him and nodded. "Of course."
"We go together!" Wei Liang said.
Li Bankawa nodded again, then looked at Su Ming: "What about you?"
"I’m done. Damn, how embarrassing. Those guys must be laughing at me," Su Ming said gloomily.
He was just a game streamer, physically weak. He had barely managed to run over, thinking he’d fake death to trick the devils, but ended up stabbed by one. Who could he complain to?
The key was that each place only allowed one ticket sponsorship. Any further entry would have to come out of his own pocket.
"We agreed I’d guide you..." Li Bankawa said politely, expressing some regret.
Su Ming raised an eyebrow.
He was already back online with his stream, and his viewers all urged him to keep going.
After some hesitation, he clenched his fist: "Alright, I’ll go in one more time."
The day’s gift income would probably surpass a million.
Might as well consider the day a loss.
It was rare to get such a chance to beat up the devils.
Li Bankawa shut his mouth and looked to the side.
After a quick rest and a sip of water, the three of them lined up again to enter the game.
Unlike the first time, their entry position was different.
But soldiers blocked their way again.
Before anyone else could react, Li Bankawa spoke first.
"Damn those devils’ grandmothers! I’ll kill them all!"
The others followed with curses, then sought cover before the shells arrived, narrowly escaping disaster.
They then entered the trenches, shooting at the devils.
With prior experience, this time went much smoother.
But bullets are blind.
Before the charge could begin, Li Bankawa was hit in the arm.
Blood rushing and adrenaline pumping, he still gripped his bayonet and charged forward.
This time, he didn’t rush ahead but mingled among the fallen devils to finish them off.
Seeing his ferocity, other passing soldiers couldn’t help but glance at him.
"Those devils are truly vicious, treating their own so harshly!" Kong Jie said to Zhao Gang in front of the monitors.
Zhao Gang smiled. "Maybe they’re scared."
He turned to Kong Jie. "Do you think this guy could be recruited as a comrade?"
Kong Jie shook his head. "This world is complicated; we can’t be sure."
"True," Zhao Gang nodded, then brightened. "But he could be of use to us..."
...
At the shooting range.
Li Bankawa sat on the ground, covered in blood.
He panted heavily, feeling the pain from his arm wound dulling.
"Awesome!" Wei Liang came over and patted Li Bankawa on the shoulder.
Besides some torn clothes, he didn’t seem seriously hurt.
Li Bankawa smiled modestly. "What about the others?"
"Three died. Two are still in the trenches, haven’t come out," Wei Liang said.
Li Bankawa turned to look and caught Su Ming’s eyes from afar.
Su Ming held his abdomen with one hand, blood still seeping out, but somehow alive.
He grinned at Li Bankawa, baring his teeth, and continued streaming on his phone.
Li Bankawa was stunned: what brand of phone was so durable it survived a hail of bullets?
As he pondered this, the scene before him began to change visibly.
The colors faded, slowly turning gray and white.
Li Bankawa was amazed.
When everything turned monochrome, a huge projection screen appeared before them all.
[Level One]
[Survivors: Wei Liang, Fang Qi, Li Huaiyuan, Su Ming, Li Bankawa.]
[Individual Scores: Wei Liang: 6; Fang Qi: 3; Li Huaiyuan: 2; Bankawa: 3; Su Ming: 1...]
"Aren’t there still two people alive?" Li Bankawa asked, puzzled.
His voice sounded hollow, lacking reality.
Wei Liang sneered, "Those two cowards hid in the trenches. Even if they go on the battlefield, they’ll be punished by military law!"
Back at the surveillance room.
Zhao Gang and Kong Jie were discussing.
"Hiding in the trenches to avoid fighting—that’s cowardly!" Zhao Gang snorted coldly.
Kong Jie’s face was full of anger. "Damn it, they’re worse than the devils!"
...
Color returned before Li Bankawa’s eyes.
He found all his wounds had vanished, now standing in a new place.
His clothes were still stained with blood and dirt.
All five appeared filthy.
Gunfire sounded in their ears. Experienced, the five dropped to the ground immediately.
"What are you lying down for?!" an officer shouted. "Get moving!"
The three of them hurried into the trenches.
Su Ming placed his phone nearby, aiming it at the battlefield.
He dragged a fallen soldier aside, grabbed the bloodied rifle, and fired at the distant devils.
He cursed as he shot.
"Damn you devils, come and fight your grandpa!"
"Get lost, little devils!"
"Go back to your mother’s womb!"
"I’ll get some black folks to carry off your whole family!"
"Little devils, no balls!"
Many bullets hit near him, forcing him to keep his head down.
Though most devils couldn’t understand, it didn’t stop them from hearing the shouts.
Other soldiers cast admiring looks their way.
"This guy's marksmanship isn’t great, but damn, his temper’s fiery. I wonder which company he’s from!"
Meanwhile, Wei Liang and Li Bankawa took advantage of Su Ming’s drawing fire to pick off devils popping out one by one.
The fighting had closed in.
All five were in good shape, sent to throw grenades.
Over three thousand grenades were thrown.
No mistakes occurred.
With the roar of artillery, the time for close combat had come.
All five rushed forward to join the fight.
But this time, Li Bankawa noticed something that shocked him deeply.
He saw a devil soldier stab Wei Liang, but it didn’t knock him down.
"What’s going on?" Li Bankawa was stunned.
A sudden thought flashed through his mind: Could that guy be wearing invisible body armor?
No, invisible armor should be visible somehow!
The scent of intrigue filled the air.
