Chapter 102: The Coffin Lid

“Senior, at our current pace, it will take about two more days to reach the territory of the Azure Cloud Sect!” Jiang Xiaoxiao glanced at the map and said to Ye Wuya.
“Hm, let’s go.”
Ye Wuya nodded and was the first to take flight! (Dragged along by the sword!)
Of course, suffering from acrophobia, Ye Wuya naturally could not fly very high, staying about twenty meters above the ground.
Jiang Xiaoxiao also sprang into the air, following behind Ye Wuya, and once again produced that bronze coffin lid, sitting cross-legged upon it.
Ye Wuya felt that ancient, primeval aura emanating once more and deliberately slowed his pace to fly parallel with Jiang Xiaoxiao.
He scrutinized the bronze coffin lid carefully.
Though it appeared to be an ordinary bronze artifact, the ancient aura it radiated rendered the seemingly mundane object profoundly mysterious.
“What is this thing?” Ye Wuya asked after a long moment of observation.
Jiang Xiaoxiao had taken this coffin lid out twice before. The last time, because Ye Wuya kept staring at it, she had put it away. She did not explain why she brought it out again this time.
“Senior, I obtained this by chance in a secret realm. I don’t know what it is. I wanted to ask my master, but I have been unable to find him.”
Jiang Xiaoxiao answered straightforwardly, not evading Ye Wuya’s question. Then, as if recalling something, she asked,
“Senior, can you tell what it is?”
“I cannot tell either. The aura is extremely ancient, definitely not something ordinary!”
Ye Wuya said seriously but was actually bluffing. He knew nothing at all. If he did, would he be asking? He was probably just thinking about how to trick her out of it!
“Oh.”
Jiang Xiaoxiao’s expression dimmed as she gave a faint “oh.” Her eyes lost their sparkle. She had brought out the coffin lid hoping to learn its origin from this senior, but the result was disappointing.
This bronze coffin lid was indeed an ancient artifact Jiang Xiaoxiao had obtained from a secret realm, but it had never served much purpose.
“If I’m not mistaken, this is probably the lid of an ancient coffin.”
Ye Wuya pondered and said. After years of tomb raiding, he was quite familiar with coffin lids. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so curious about this one.
“Senior, you mean this is a coffin lid?”
Jiang Xiaoxiao exclaimed, her hair standing on end behind her. She studied this coffin lid every day and it felt somewhat strange!

“Yes, I feel this coffin lid is extraordinary. It likely hides something! Have you found anything from your research?” Ye Wuya inquired.
“No. This coffin lid is impervious to blades and fire, completely unyielding!”
Jiang Xiaoxiao smiled bitterly. She had exhausted every method imaginable to unlock its secrets. Apart from its incredible hardness, she found nothing, but she was unwilling to simply discard something she had painstakingly acquired.
Jiang Xiaoxiao always felt there was a great secret concealed within it.
She decided to keep the coffin lid, hoping that one day she could unravel its mysteries.
“Oh? Impervious to blades and fire?” Ye Wuya was surprised. “When there’s time, I’ll take a look for you.”
His professional instincts tingled incessantly; he longed to snatch it now and examine it with a magnifying glass.
But as a senior, it would be inappropriate to simply seize someone else’s possession—especially when he couldn’t overpower her.
So Ye Wuya had to find a more legitimate reason.
“Alright, then I’ll trouble you, senior.” Jiang Xiaoxiao nodded and agreed.
Since she herself could not discern the secrets it held, and her master was nowhere to be found, the only option was to ask Ye Wuya to try.
If there was truly something hidden, Ye Wuya, as a senior, would not keep it from her. Otherwise, this coffin lid would become a source of constant worry.
With Jiang Xiaoxiao’s consent, Ye Wuya said no more. They agreed to examine it at the right place and time.
The bright moon hung in the sky; below was a primeval forest, rolling hills upon hills, and long mountain ranges stretching into the distance.
The primordial aura was vast in Ye Wuya’s eyes.
The Azure Cloud Sect!
This was Ye Wuya’s first stop after entering the prehistoric wilderness!
The first stop in searching for Ye Ruyue and Ye Ruxue!
The first step in his journey to grow stronger in the Immortal Chant World!
To fully understand this world, then enter it.
Immortality!
Ye Wuya dared not even think of it. Even the Blood Demon Lord, the strongest demon over ten thousand years, could only hope to become emperor but did not dare to call himself immortal.
What merit or ability did Ye Wuya have to speak of immortality?
He felt deeply ashamed. If he were strong enough, Ye Ruyue and Ye Ruxue would not have been captured!
The two women were a wound in Ye Wuya’s heart.
Time passed by the minute.
They crossed countless mountain ranges and endless rivers.
At last, the sky began to brighten.
Ye Wuya stared blankly at the faint dawn on the horizon. Ye Ruyue and Ye Ruxue had told him they liked watching the sunrise…
“Senior, what’s wrong?”
Jiang Xiaoxiao noticed Ye Wuya suddenly stop and land atop a mountain peak, gazing into the distance.
“We’ll move on later,” Ye Wuya replied.
The two stood silently on the mountaintop, watching afar.
The gray sky still held a few fading stars, and the earth was shrouded in a gray-black veil. All was silent; occasionally the chirping of insects rose from the grass.
Quietly watching, the eastern sky showed faint dawn light, a narrow dark red band stretching above it, topped by the cold pale light of morning.
Looking eastward, the vast horizon was suffused with a light mist. Beyond the mist hung a pale peach-colored cloud glow.
In the distance where heaven met earth, a thick fog still lingered. Deep within the white clouds, a sliver of red light appeared, dyeing the clouds at the horizon crimson. The sky seemed painted with red ink.
“So beautiful!”
Jiang Xiaoxiao said, slowly moving her body.
Her long sleeves danced, countless bright petals fluttered gently between heaven and earth, a fragrance so pure it intoxicated Ye Wuya.
Jiang Xiaoxiao’s dance was like a blooming flower, spreading outward. Amid the shower of petals, a white-veiled maiden, beautiful as a celestial being, moved with the grace of a rare orchid. Her wide sleeves opened and closed, enhancing her exquisite bearing.
Ye Wuya watched her graceful dance entranced, almost forgetting to breathe. The maiden’s beautiful eyes glanced about as she pivoted on her right foot. Her long sleeves unfurled, her delicate figure spinning faster and faster. Suddenly she leapt lightly from the ground. Her jade hands waved, and dozens of blue ribbons fluttered forth like waves of blue water. The maiden soared above the ribbons, her slender feet lightly touching them, her flowing garments billowing like a fairy dancing on water…
