Chapter Ninety-Nine: The Shower Gel
“Success!”
Ye Wuya felt his spiritual perception touch the talisman paper, and it seemed to come alive. An incredibly powerful aura began to coalesce from the talisman in the palm of his hand.
Peering through his palm at the talisman, Ye Wuya saw a ball of lightning rapidly form. The talisman emitted a mysterious protective shield, guarding his hand from the thunder’s harm.
The patterns on the talisman glowed, and the lightning condensed along these strokes and lines, continuously crackling with sharp “pfft” sounds.
Ye Wuya raised his palm and aimed at a massive ancient tree trunk that required three people to encircle. The lightning seemed to understand his intent.
Suddenly, it shot out wildly from his hand like a lightning laser, twisting and turning as it struck the trunk!
“Boom…”
The fierce power of the lightning exploded directly, shattering the trunk into pieces, sparks flying everywhere. The residual electric energy crackled loudly.
The burnt scent drifted on the wind into Ye Wuya’s nostrils…
Watching this, Ye Wuya’s heart pounded in terror. Had he been struck by this talisman, he would have been utterly scorched, if not dead.
Looking down at the talisman on the ground, Ye Wuya’s eyes shone brightly. Although the Divine Walk Talisman held little use for someone like him who could wield the Sword Drag Technique, this Palm Thunder Talisman was useful—for fighting monsters or just showing off! More importantly, its power was considerable.
Glancing at Jiang Xiaoxiao, he noticed the surprise in her eyes, as if seeing this for the first time. But that couldn’t be, since she recognized it as a Palm Thunder Talisman. So what did that expression mean?
“Have you never seen this before?” Ye Wuya asked coldly, still seeming irritated.
“Senior, it’s not that I’ve never seen it—just that it’s the first time I’ve seen a thunder talisman with such weak power!” Jiang Xiaoxiao answered honestly.
“This is a first-level talisman I only read about in books; our sanctuary doesn’t have these at all.”
“Oh? Then what do the thunder talismans in your sanctuary look like?” Ye Wuya asked curiously, actually trying to draw more information from her.
Jiang Xiaoxiao, freshly returned from the sanctuary, had few tricks up her sleeve and simply pulled out a blue talisman from her spatial ring, handing it to Ye Wuya.
“Here, senior. This is it. My master says this is the worst talisman. If I hadn’t known from books that there’s a first-level talisman, and hadn’t seen today with my own eyes, I would truly have thought this was the lamest talisman.”
Jiang Xiaoxiao looked at the talisman in her hand as she said this.
Ye Wuya examined it carefully. This talisman was blue, unlike the earlier yellow one. The patterns on this one were intricate and clear, thousands of times more complex than before. Ye Wuya couldn’t understand them; they were orderly, not chaotic.
“Just this? Looks like nothing more than a change in pattern and color!” Ye Wuya thought to himself. He had already successfully communicated with the Palm Thunder Talisman through his spiritual power and now wanted to test this talisman’s power before communicating again.
“Hm? No response? What went wrong?”
Ye Wuya looked around repeatedly, checking everything, but found nothing unusual. The method of communication was the same. Why wasn’t it working?
Suddenly, he noticed his vision darkening slightly. He quickly looked up ahead, and the sky was covered by dark clouds! The moonlight was blocked! Darkness enveloped the land, with constant flashes of lightning illuminating the ground!
“Rumble!”
Thunder rolled and echoed, shaking the air for miles!
The talisman in Ye Wuya’s hand unknowingly turned to ashes!
What was going on?
Ye Wuya was shocked. Could it be that the lightning summoned by this celestial anomaly was caused by this talisman?
The thunder in midair churned violently, spewing electric sparks!
What was the right way to use this? If it just fell like this, would that mean he was playing with a paper firecracker?
Looking at the massive dark cloud several thousand meters wide, looming like a crushing black veil over the city, Ye Wuya remained outwardly calm but was internally panicked!
“This is playing way too recklessly!” he thought in despair.
He quickly glanced at Jiang Xiaoxiao. To his surprise, she silently raised layer upon layer of protective shields, golden and radiant, like a celestial descending!
Then, sensing danger, she pulled out another talisman and affixed it to herself, forming a white glowing shield!
“What is she doing?” Ye Wuya asked suspiciously. “What is that for?”
“Senior, you’ve set the thunder talisman’s attack point on this mountain peak. My body can’t endure it as well as yours. I can’t block it, but it’s not good for you to face it alone, so I can only use the shield talisman,” Jiang Xiaoxiao said with a smile. “Don’t worry, senior. I know some masters like to bathe in thunder to temper their bodies. You keep going—I’ll be fine!”
“Damn, damn it, damn it all!” Ye Wuya’s mind cursed threefold.
“Your ‘don’t worry’ is worthless! You go ahead and bathe, but I don’t have a shield!” Ye Wuya roared inwardly like he was about to break down. He vowed never to recklessly toy with these things again!
But to maintain his senior image, he could only say coldly, “Let’s go.” He swiftly gathered all the talismans on the ground into his spatial bag.
With a thought, his blue longsword hummed, carrying Ye Wuya swiftly away at an incredible speed!
Jiang Xiaoxiao immediately followed, curious. “Senior, aren’t you going to bathe in the thunder?”
“No more bathing! I forgot shower gel. Maybe next time,” Ye Wuya replied, accelerating further away from the mountain range.
“Senior, what is shower gel?” Jiang Xiaoxiao asked, hearing the term for the first time. Bath? Shower gel? Used for bathing?
“I’ll tell you another time—you wouldn’t understand now,” Ye Wuya said, glancing back at the thunderclouds behind.
“Boom!”
A tremendous roar thundered across the sky. A terrifying strike of lightning, wild and overwhelming, smashed down on the mountain peak where Ye Wuya had just stood!
The violent energy unleashed electric light, and the entire hundred-meter peak was leveled!
It looked like a battlefield shrouded in smoke and chaos!
Ye Wuya’s heart shook wildly!
This tiny talisman possessed such power. This immortal world was indeed growing more and more alluring!
At the same time, Ye Wuya grew ever more eager to explore this vast, boundless world.
An adventure full of the unknown had begun—from this very moment!
