Chapter Twenty-Six: Another Woman Abandoned for Thousands of Years
No one could have imagined that a battle at merely the Spirit Gathering Realm could unleash such formidable power, destroying nearly half of the Ye family’s martial training grounds.
“Husband! Are you alright?” The two women who had just defeated their opponents hurried over to support Ye Wuyah’s hand.
What’s happening? Why is his body completely cold? Panic and unease flooded their hearts.
At this moment, Ye Wuyah’s eyes were pitch black, his pupils shrouded in a dark demonic aura.
It was only now that the two women realized Ye Wuyah was no longer the playful, smiling man he once was—he was cold and distant.
“Ah!” They cried out in alarm as Ye Wuyah’s hand suddenly gripped their throats.
Expressionless, he stared at the two women struggling desperately. With just a bit more force, his slender, blade-like nails could end their lives in an instant.
“Stop!” Ye Yunlong cried out, stunned. He too noticed Ye Wuyah was utterly changed from before. If the records were not mistaken, then Ye Wuyah had entered a state of demonic possession!
Demonic possession meant abandoning reason, burning one’s soul and life to gain immense strength. This fool, Ye Yunlong cursed inwardly.
Yet, more than anything, he felt gratitude. For the sake of the Ye family, Ye Wuyah had risked everything, even demonic possession, to resist their formidable enemies. This young man was worthy of being his son-in-law!
“All members of the Ye family, those below the Spirit Gathering Realm, fall back!” Ye Yunlong shouted urgently.
Ye Wuyah had lost all rationality; he recognized neither kin nor friend. Ye Yunlong dared make no sudden moves—his daughters’ lives hung in the balance, for a single motion from Ye Wuyah’s hand could snuff them out.
The crowd, hearing Ye Yunlong’s command, quickly retreated. They too sensed something was amiss with Ye Wuyah; even the Lord of Lingfeng City, a Spirit Gathering ninth-heaven powerhouse, was fleeing. Killing them would be effortless.
Only Ye Yunlong, his three brothers, and four Ye family elders remained.
The remaining seven, understanding Ye Wuyah was possessed, felt a surge of emotion—this white-haired youth had sacrificed so much for the Ye family. In their hearts, Ye Wuyah was now fully acknowledged.
Ye Wuyah looked at the two women in distress, a sharp pain stabbing through his heart. He frowned, as if a single action would bring eternal regret.
The Ye family had no idea what to do; none could match Ye Wuyah now, and any careless act might provoke the possessed him.
Seeing Ye Wuyah hesitate, not immediately killing the women, they realized he was battling the demon within himself.
“Ah…”
Ye Wuyah, gripping the women’s throats, cried out in agony.
A force, indistinct and unseen, struck Ye Wuyah’s head.
With a muffled groan, he slowly closed his eyes, letting the women collapse to the ground.
“H-Husband, wake up, it’s me! I’m Yue’er! Cough, cough!” Taking a shaky breath, Ru Yue called out urgently.
Ye Yunlong stepped forward, pulling the women away.
He warned them, “Don’t speak. He’s possessed.”
Ru Yue and Ru Xue were startled; they understood what demonic possession meant—abandoning reason for power.
Hearing their father’s words, the women were at a loss. It was all for their sake; had it not been for them, Ye Wuyah would never have become like this.
“Father, what should we do?” Ru Xue asked anxiously.
Ye Yunlong shook his head. “I’ve never encountered this before, only heard of it. In this situation, it’s up to him alone.”
The women sat dumbfounded, tears streaming uncontrollably down their faces, soaking the ground.
“What do we do? What can be done?” They stared at Ye Wuyah, thoughts racing.
“Pff!” Both women coughed up blood, staining their dresses red. Their faces grew paler, but regardless of their pain, a thought flashed through their minds.
“Sister Qing! Yes, Sister Qing will have a way! We must find her!” The two, their hearts linked, exchanged a glance, wiped their tears, and stood, ready to seek Xue Qing.
“You silly girls, burning your life to use an imperial technique has already damaged your foundation, and you still want to go?” A thought entered their minds, stopping them.
Hearing the feminine voice in their heads, they clung to it as if grasping a life-saving straw. “Sister Qing? Is that you? Please save our husband, he’s possessed!”
“I’m not Xue Qing, and I can’t save him. Besides, he’s not truly possessed, just appears so. In reality, he’s undergone corpse transformation.” The voice continued.
“You’re not Sister Qing? Senior, what’s happened to our husband? How can we save him? And what is corpse transformation?” the women asked anxiously.
“Corpse transformation is simply a talent of the corpse clan. You want to save him? That scoundrel, a philanderer, always flirting and abandoning women, why bother?” the voice echoed in their minds.
“Senior, since you know our husband, can’t you save him?” They weren’t offended, but hurriedly pleaded. This senior was surely powerful and seemed to know Ye Wuyah well—likely an old acquaintance. If she hadn’t acted directly, only an old acquaintance could help.
“Know him? Of course, he abandoned us for thousands of years. Do you think I don’t know him? Not only do I know him, I know him all too well!” the voice replied.
What? Another woman abandoned for thousands of years? And she wasn’t the only one—first Sister Qing, now another. The women looked at Ye Wuyah with a hint of resentment. Who was he, really?
Shaking off these chaotic thoughts, they asked, “Senior, since you know him well, can’t you save him?”
“I could… but I won’t. What can you do about it?” the voice replied.
The women dared not protest, fearing to provoke her. She was their last hope.
“Senior, what would it take for you to save him?” Ru Yue asked anxiously.
“To save him, to save him—can’t you think of anything else? Aren’t you curious about who I am?” the voice continued.
“Senior, please don’t joke with us. Our husband is in this state—do you think we have the mind for such things?” Ru Yue said, frustration in her voice.
“You truly wish to save him? It’s not impossible, but the price… I fear you won’t bear it,” the voice said.
“Please, tell us. No matter the cost, we will pay it!” Ru Yue and Ru Xue declared.
“It’s nothing much. I simply want you both to marry someone else. That’s all,” the voice said.
“What?” The women were shocked. To exchange a life for a life would be preferable—being forced to remarry, to be wed to another, was worse than death!
“Senior, are you joking? Do you think we could possibly agree?” Ru Yue’s voice trembled.
“I believe you will. He can last at most one more hour before losing all reason. Then, not even a celestial immortal could save him,” the voice persisted.
Her words struck the women like a heavy hammer.
They fell silent. After a while, they looked at each other, then spoke in unison, “I will agree to your demand, but please spare my sister (or my elder sister).”
“No. Both together, or nothing,” the voice replied.
