Chapter 138: The Madness of Leaf Lark
"Y-Yes, that's right!" Although Dongfang Yanran didn't understand why Ye Yunque was reacting so strongly, she still nodded.
With a swift motion, Ye Yunque stood up, her expression complex as she glanced at Dongfang Yanran before turning and leaving.
"Yunque sister, what's wrong?" Dongfang Yanran quickly rose to her feet, nervously calling out after Ye Yunque, unsure of what had happened to cause such a reaction.
"Don't follow me. I'm fine. You should go back and rest. I need to take a walk," Ye Yunque said without looking back, quickly running outside.
Dongfang Yanran was left standing there, stunned and uncertain.
Thankfully, Ye Yunque didn’t probe further; otherwise, Dongfang Yanran wouldn’t have known how to explain, especially since it was her Wood Spirit Holy Body that had purified the poison.
If Ye Yunque asked, Dongfang Yanran wouldn’t know whether to reveal the truth about her Holy Body.
Hiding this from Ye Yunque made her feel guilty, yet confessing would be too significant a matter, potentially placing her in grave danger.
Tears streamed silently from Ye Yunque’s eyes.
After putting some distance between herself and the sect, Ye Yunque summoned a Divine Rainbow and swiftly flew away.
Having already reached the Consolidation Form stage, she had long since learned how to harness the Divine Rainbow during her time at the Azure Cloud Sect.
She had no idea how far she had flown, only knowing she was now far, far away from the Azure Cloud Sect.
"Ahhhh!" Ye Yunque cried out in pain, tears flowing uncontrollably.
"How could this happen? How could this happen!" she screamed.
"You wretched Ye Wuyan!" she cursed.
"You bastard!"
"Why would you do this to me?"
"How can you face Yue’er and Xue’er after this?"
Ye Yunque conjured a long whip, raging with fury in a forest.
The whip, accompanied by her tears, wildly destroyed everything.
Trees and boulders shattered into pieces, flying in all directions.
Her mind replayed Dongfang Yanran’s expression earlier; no longer did she need to guess — the die was cast.
"Ye Wuyan!"
"You wretched scoundrel!"
"You damn fool!"
"When I lay naked in your arms, you acted like a saint!"
"I told you to be a saint, I told you!"
With her curses echoing, she lashed the trees and boulders as if they were Ye Wuyan himself.
"How could I possibly be inferior to that little brat Yanran!"
"I don’t even know how many times bigger I am than that girl!"
"Do you know how many men desire me?"
"Do you know how many men covet me?"
Smack! Smack! Smack!
Ye Yunque wildly lashed, destroying everything in sight while crying out.
The one she cursed still lay not far away, dreaming his harem fantasies.
With a flick, her whip extended wildly, wrapping around a massive boulder ten meters away. With a strong pull, she flew toward the rock.
Stopping two or three meters from the colossal stone, she released the whip.
She began lashing it again.
Fragments of rock fell to the ground.
Soon, the boulder was carved into a rough human shape.
Her cultivation surged; a chain of spiritual energy coiled tightly around the humanoid stone.
With a sudden swing, her whip struck upward.
"I told you to be a saint!"
"I told you you couldn’t control your desires!"
"I told you to be cursed to have no heirs!"
Thanks to the spiritual chain, the stone remained intact despite the blows.
Her thrice-repeated curses vented her pent-up frustrations.
After an unknown amount of time, dawn began to break. Feeling exhausted, Ye Yunque waved her hand, and both the whip and spiritual chain vanished without a trace.
With a rumble, the humanoid stone crumbled into small fragments, collapsing with a cloud of dust.
"Cough! Cough, cough!"
Without spiritual protection, Ye Yunque choked on the dust, coughing harshly.
Sweat beads dotted her forehead, and her heaving breaths showed how fiercely and passionately she had lashed out.
Calming herself, she noted that sunlight had dispelled the darkness.
The forest around her, mingled with morning dew, helped soothe her spirit.
She sighed, shaking her aching arms.
"It’s time to go back, or that brat Yanran will worry," Ye Yunque said, glancing at the sky and sighing again.
Turning around, she froze.
Twenty meters away stood a figure, silently watching her. How long he had been standing there was unknown.
The figure was an old man wearing the robe of the Blazing Sun Sect. His left sleeve hung empty, a clear sign of a lost arm.
His withered face and skeletal hands bore a cold, hawk-like gaze, hooked nose, and sunken eyes, terrifying to behold.
The old man let out a sinister laugh: "Little girl, where do you think you’re going, hehe?"
His voice was grating and hoarse, as if a bowl of boiling water had scalded his throat, sending chills down Ye Yunque’s spine.
"You’re from the Blazing Sun Sect. Why are you in the territory of the Azure Cloud Sect? Aren’t you afraid the elders will kill you here?" Ye Yunque shouted, though she took an involuntary step back.
He had managed to sneak up behind her without a sound; she hadn’t noticed until now. His cultivation far surpassed hers.
This old man blocked her route back to the Azure Cloud Sect.
Today, her fate seemed grim.
She could only hope to subdue him.
"I’m warning you: the elders of the Azure Cloud Sect are nearby. Leave now or prepare to meet your end here!" she declared.
"Hahaha, little girl, trying to scare me? You think I’m so easily frightened? I’ve already scouted this area thoroughly. Apart from you, there’s no one else from the Azure Cloud Sect," the old man laughed heartily as he slowly approached.
To run! That was the only option Ye Yunque could think of. She couldn’t gauge his strength, but it was definitely far beyond hers.
"Heh heh," the old man chuckled further, "I’ve seen you before!"
He stepped forward; Ye Yunque stepped back.
"Back in Ling City, you seemed to be from the Ye family. I thought with the support of Immortal Moon Tower, I had no hope of revenge. But heaven is merciful to let me meet someone from the Ye family!" the old man said.
"So it’s you—the cripple who lost an arm to Senior Chaotian Xiang!" Ye Yunque said calmly, cursing. She had indeed recognized this old man as the Golden Core cultivator who had fought with the leader of Immortal Moon Tower.
Her mood worsened; hope of escape today seemed slim.
The difference between the Golden Core and Consolidation Form stages was like heaven and earth. Even with one arm lost, he was beyond her ability.
"Hahaha, that’s right. Since you remember me, little girl, then surrender! I’ll be merciful," the old man said, licking his lips as his eyes gleamed with invasive intent.
"Delusional! I’d rather die than give you the satisfaction!" Ye Yunque snapped, fiery and resolute.
"I like your spirit. Conquering someone like you feels far more satisfying. I’m tired of those girls lying beneath me like corpses, crying. A change of pace is refreshing," the old man revealed his vile intentions without shame.
"Disgusting! Shameless bastard!" Ye Yunque cursed.
After a brief rest to recover, she gathered all her strength. The aura of the Consolidation Form surged as she summoned the Divine Rainbow, fleeing with all her might in the opposite direction from the Azure Cloud Sect.
