Chapter 128: News of the Two Women
A dark green flash was suddenly thrown from Ye Wuya's hand. Moving with incredible speed, it left a trail of afterimages before striking unerringly toward Nalan Susu.
Nalan Susu caught the green light in an instant.
"What is the meaning of this!" Nalan Susu’s cultivation aura flared, and a pressure as heavy as Mount Tai bore down on Ye Wuya. She barked with a grim expression.
"To strike out before even looking at what's in your hand—isn't your temper a bit too explosive?" Facing the crushing pressure, Ye Wuya felt as though a mountain were weighing him down, yet he remained unfazed.
"Hm?"
Nalan Susu paused, eyeing Ye Wuya warily as she took a step back. She slowly opened her palm to reveal a dark green thumb ring.
"This is... my master’s ring!" Nalan Susu’s pupils contracted sharply. Her face turned somber in an instant, cold as frost.
"And you still say you didn't kidnap my master? How do you explain this ring?" Nalan Susu demanded coldly.
"Withdraw your aura first, or this little courtyard of your master's won't be able to hold itself together," Ye Wuya said calmly.
Nalan Susu finally realized she had been overreacting. She had been taken in by her master when she was a child; though he was her mentor, he was more like a father to her. Now that he had vanished without a trace, leaving no message behind, it was inevitable that her emotions were volatile.
Nalan Susu retracted her aura, and the teetering wooden hut finally stopped trembling.
"I did not kidnap your master," Ye Wuya stated coolly.
"You say you didn't, but how am I supposed to believe you?" Nalan Susu retorted coldly.
"Believe it or not, it’s up to you! I believe it, anyway," Ye Wuya replied with a look of utter indifference.
"Then where did my master go?" Nalan Susu asked.
"What, you want to know?" Ye Wuya said with interest.
"Speak!" Nalan Susu stared at him, cold and intent.
"Is that your attitude?" Ye Wuya said dismissively.
"What do you want?" Nalan Susu asked impatiently.
"Heh, what do I want?" Ye Wuya chuckled. He rose slowly, circled Nalan Susu twice, and suddenly leaned his face in close. After taking a light sniff, he said with a roguish grin, "What do you think I want?"
"You lecher!"
Nalan Susu recoiled, her face ice-cold.
Ye Wuya: "..."
"I don't want anything, and I'm no lecher. Give me a smile, and I'll tell you!" Ye Wuya sat back down.
At that moment, Nalan Susu wished she could hang Ye Wuya up and flog him. But for the sake of her master’s whereabouts, she forced a smile.
Seeing that smile, Ye Wuya was momentarily dazed; she actually looked quite beautiful when she smiled.
"That doesn't count. You look like a zombie—who are you trying to scare?" Ye Wuya said flatly.
"I'm showing it to the ghosts!" Nalan Susu snapped back mercilessly.
Ye Wuya: "..."
Though she complained, Nalan Susu still smiled according to his request.
"Is that enough now?" Nalan Susu asked, staring coldly at the distracted Ye Wuya.
"Good enough, good enough," Ye Wuya nodded.
"Where is my master?" Nalan Susu asked again.
"He left," Ye Wuya said nonchalantly.
Nalan Susu: "..."
"You’re courting death!" Realizing she had been played, a killing intent surged forth, making a chill run down Ye Wuya’s spine.
"Calm down, calm down!" Ye Wuya reached out to soothe her. "But he did leave a few words for me before he went."
"What did he say?" Nalan Susu asked anxiously.
"He told you not to go looking for him, and that the Qingyun Sect is now in your hands," Ye Wuya said.
"And what else?"
"He also said for you to cultivate diligently!" Ye Wuya bluffed.
"Go on!" Nalan Susu listened intently to Ye Wuya's nonsense.
"Then he said he was entrusting you to me, telling me to take good care of you, and that you should serve me well, bear me a few chubby kids..."
Ye Wuya chattered on endlessly. Nalan Susu had been listening with absolute seriousness, but the more she heard, the darker her face became.
Entrusting her to him? Serve him? And bear...
Nalan Susu quickly cut off that insane train of thought and shouted, "Shut up!"
Ye Wuya stopped abruptly, touched his face with a guilty conscience, and thought to himself, *Looks like I went off the rails again.*
Nalan Susu glared at him fiercely. She channeled her divine sense into the dark green thumb ring, which emitted a faint glow, and an envelope dropped into her hand.
Ye Wuya glanced at it, and his heart sank.
He had tried to open this ring several times before and failed, which was why he had given it to Nalan Susu! After all, when the Vice Sect Master left, he had simply abandoned this ring without a word, and Ye Wuya had kept it with the intention of pocketing it. Now that Jiang Xiaoxiao was pressing him, he had given it back since it was useless to him, not realizing it was a spatial ring!
Ye Wuya regretted it so much his guts were turning green. If he had known, he would have kept it. It was the storage ring of the previous generation of the Qingyun Sect; who knew what treasures or artifacts were inside? Now, the bird he had in his hand had simply flown away.
He caught a glimpse of the handwriting on the envelope: *To be opened by Susu.*
*Damn it!*
*Damn it all!*
*Damn it to hell!*
Ye Wuya felt a sharp pang of heartache. It was all gone, and there was absolutely no way to get it back now!
Glaring at Ye Wuya one last time, Nalan Susu turned and left quickly with the envelope. The deeply depressed Ye Wuya propped his chin on his hands and slammed his fist against the lid of his coffin.
"Master, what’s wrong?" Jiang Xiaoxiao walked in, asking with curiosity. It was the first time she had seen Ye Wuya like this.
Seeing that he didn't answer, she asked again, "Master! What happened?"
"Sigh!" Ye Wuya let out a long breath. "Nothing, it just happened a bit too suddenly."
"Oh, what was sudden?" Jiang Xiaoxiao asked, blinking her bright, watery eyes.
"Nothing. How did that matter I asked you to handle go?" Ye Wuya asked, his heart stirring with anticipation.
"Oh, Master, I found them. Dongfang Yanran and Ye Yunque are indeed here." Jiang Xiaoxiao nodded.
"Oh? Where are they?" Ye Wuya asked. He decided that he really should see Ye Yunque; she was, after all, his aunt. He had been gone for over half a year. How was the Ye family now? How was his father-in-law, Ye Yunlong? These were all things he wanted to know.
He looked at Jiang Xiaoxiao full of expectation, hoping for a satisfactory answer.
Jiang Xiaoxiao pulled a scroll from her spatial ring and said, "Master, this is the record of everything regarding Ye Yunque and Dongfang Yanran!"
