Chapter 127: Nalan Susu
“Master, what is it?” Jiang Xiaoxiao drew back the curtain and approached.
“Help me check if there are people named Ye Yunque and Dongfang Yanran in the Qingyun Sect.”
“Yes, Master!” Jiang Xiaoxiao responded and slowly walked out.
By the cliff’s edge, Jiang Xiaoxiao stood still, a gentle breeze stirring her dark hair, making her appear ethereal and otherworldly.
The space around her rippled, and two figures gradually emerged, shrouded in black mist. The spatial distortion rendered them almost intangible.
“Leaders of Yan Territory, Demon Shadows 9527 and 9528! Greetings to the Holy Maiden!” The two figures spoke hoarsely, kneeling halfway and bowing their heads in respect.
“Help me verify if there are two people named Ye Yunque and Dongfang Yanran in Qingyun Sect. Report back here in half an hour,” Jiang Xiaoxiao said coldly, her voice seeming to come from another self—utterly devoid of emotion, a stark contrast to the Jiang Xiaoxiao who appeared before Ye Wuya.
If anyone else were present, they might have thought Jiang Xiaoxiao was talking to herself.
The spatial fluctuations around Demon Shadows 9527 and 9528 flickered faintly; without special secret techniques, it would be difficult to see or detect these two.
“Yes!” the two responded, their forms gradually blurring until they vanished.
Inside the small courtyard, Ye Wuya calmly observed the woman before him.
She wore a blue emerald smoke blouse, a pleated skirt of misty green adorned with scattered blossoms, and a pale blue sheer veil draped over her shoulders. Her figure was slender and graceful, her waist delicate as if carved, her skin smooth and radiant like creamy jade, and her aura faintly orchid-like.
With a subtle step, she displayed slender wrists beneath the light veil.
Her eyes shimmered like spring water, clear and flowing. Atop her head was a Japanese-style bun pierced by an openwork gold hairpin, studded with tiny purple jades, tassels cascading onto her dark hair. Her fragrant, tender face rivaled the bloom of flowers, her fingers slender as scallion stalks, her lips as if tinted with vermilion. Every frown and smile stirred the soul.
Her complexion, as delicate as congealed cream, was framed by soft white jasmine silk chiffon. She wore a trailing white skirt patterned with plum blossoms and flowing water, tied with sheer silk, exuding a faint sweetness and allure.
Her jet-black hair slid between snow-white fingers, gathered loosely into a bun held by jade hairpins, with an added golden ornament that dangled long beads swaying by her temples. Her brows were naturally dark without needing paint, her skin smooth and pale without powder, her lips crimson and slightly pursed like coral fruit. Coral chains and red jade bracelets adorned her wrists, and a bright red beaded chain wrapped around her fair arm, white as snow and red as fire, strikingly vivid. She wore a bright yellow gauze skirt with a jade-green silk belt cinching her waist, accentuating her graceful figure. She paced before a mirror, radiating countless charms.
Dressed in a white floor-length gown, wide hems embroidered with pink patterns, her arms draped with a length of purple silk chiffon nearly a zhang long. Her slender waist was cinched with a purple belt embroidered with jade patterns.
Her hair was tied with a pale purple ribbon, with a few playful strands cascading over her shoulders, highlighting her translucent, flawless skin. Her face bore no makeup but was fresh and captivating.
Her eyes, like water, held a faint chill, as if seeing through everything. Her ten slender fingers and creamy skin, tinted with pink, seemed almost moist. Her vermilion lips smiled gently, each movement like a dance. Her long hair fell to her ankles; when untied, the dark strands fluttered in the wind, releasing a subtle fragrance. Her waist was slender, limbs long, exuding an ethereal, otherworldly aura. She wore a white robe trailing to the ground, embroidered with faint butterfly patterns. Her dark hair was loosely tied with butterfly tassels, and a night pearl carved into a butterfly adorned her forehead, emitting a soft glow. Her elegantly arched brows needed no powder to conceal her stunning beauty. A crystal necklace accentuated her sharp collarbones, white jade bracelets emphasized her snowy skin, and her feet wore golden shoes decorated with gems. Her bright eyes flickered like a pale butterfly lost in darkness, her expression indifferent, as if untouched by the mortal world. A faint smile curved her lips, fleeting and resplendent like fireworks.
She sipped her tea quietly, simply watching him, neither speaking.
The atmosphere grew a little tense.
The woman parted her crimson lips and said coldly, “You brought quite a few people.”
“Is that so?” Ye Wuya paused mid-sip, then continued drinking before saying, “It seems the intelligence was wrong. Nalan Susu of Qingyun Sect isn’t as weak as imagined.”
This woman was none other than Nalan Susu, the current sect leader of Qingyun Sect.
“Speak. Where did you take my master?” Nalan Susu’s tone was icy, as if ready to strike Ye Wuya at any moment.
That morning, she had just seen Ye Wuya leave, after he had beaten some disciples of Qingyun Sect.
But Ye Wuya had an agreement with her master for half a year. Only one-sixth of that time had passed, yet Ye Wuya had appeared again.
At first, she thought her master had approved this, but after searching the entire Qingyun Sect without finding him, she realized things were not as she imagined — hence the present confrontation.
“Why do you assume it was I who took him?” Ye Wuya said lightly, gently stroking the coffin lid beneath his seat, thinking silently, “Good thing Xiaoxiao placed this here; otherwise, I wouldn’t have the courage to speak so boldly.”
“Across the entire Yan Territory, besides you—whose origins are unknown—I can think of no one who could have silently taken my master!” Nalan Susu’s eyes glinted sharply, staring daggers at Ye Wuya.
“I find it curious. You’re a cripple, yet you have a disciple at the Golden Core stage, and those two auras just now—are they your subordinates?” Nalan Susu paused, then slowly said, “All evidence suggests you were once formidable, but after being crippled, you’ve hidden here.”
“Clap!”
“Clap, clap!”
“Clap, clap, clap!”
Ye Wuya applauded with a smile. “You speak convincingly.”
“But—”
“You’re wrong! Jiang Xiaoxiao is indeed my disciple, but I do not recognize those two auras just now!” Ye Wuya said calmly, continuing his applause.
“What did you say? You don’t recognize those two auras?” Nalan Susu exclaimed.
“I don’t,” Ye Wuya replied coldly.
Nalan Susu muttered in despair, “How is this possible? It can’t be! You’re lying!”
She could sense those two auras were much stronger than her master. If her master disappeared, it was most likely because those two powerful beings took him away.
Now Ye Wuya claims not to know them! Then who took her master?
“I disdain lying, and you’re a clever person. Do you think if I wanted to take someone from your Qingyun Sect, who could stop me?” Ye Wuya paused, then added, “Think carefully next time!”
“Swish!”
A dark green light suddenly shot from Ye Wuya’s hand, moving so fast it left afterimages, accurately hitting Nalan Susu.
