Chapter 117: Entering the Scripture Repository
Jiang Xiaoxiao sullenly put away her fighting stance, conveniently stowing away the coffin lid as well.
Ye Wuya: "..."
He had intended to stow it away himself, but he realized his Qiankun bag couldn't fit it! His bag, looted from Lu Li, only had a capacity of one cubic meter. Meanwhile, a dozen gazes that had been fixed on the extraordinary coffin lid shifted as it vanished from sight.
He noticed the Deputy Sect Master watching him.
"Your eyes are quite peculiar; the fluctuations within them feel very familiar..."
Ye Wuya glanced at the Deputy Sect Master of the Qingyun Sect, his expression turning even colder.
"You have blockages in the third and fourth meridians of your feet. Does it cause unbearable pain when your internal energy flows to your soles? And are you unable to clear it even by channeling your spiritual power?"
"The liver corresponds to wood; your constitution should be fire-attributed. You must have practiced some kind of shortcut technique, using intense fire as a catalyst, which has accumulated in your liver. If the fire toxins seep into your body one day, not even an immortal could save you."
"There is a broken meridian in the acupuncture point atop your head. I suspect it was caused by a heavy blow from some wild beast."
Jiang Xiaoxiao: "..."
The Seventh Elder: "..."
The Sixth Elder: "..."
The eighteen figures: "..."
Could all of this actually be true?
"Pure nonsense! Total fabrication! How dare he openly offend the Deputy Sect Master and run wild in our Qingyun Sect? Elders, join me in taking him down!" The Seventh Elder pointed at Ye Wuya, exasperated.
He had insulted the Deputy directly! This could not be tolerated!
"Wait!"
The Deputy Sect Master’s expression remained frozen on his face. After a long while, he spoke slowly.
"Did I ever say he was wrong?"
This... it seemed he really hadn't! He truly hadn't. The dozen people looked at the Deputy Sect Master with wary and strange expressions.
"Can pure nonsense sound so logical?" the middle-aged man in purple exclaimed in disbelief. "Did he research this beforehand?"
"Bullshit! Who could have told him? Besides, I had an injury to my head when I was young... even my own mother didn't know about it. Where would he have found that out?" The Deputy Sect Master’s face lost its smile, and he spoke with a sense of agitation. He turned to look at Ye Wuya. "You win. I’ll challenge you again another day. We have plenty of time!"
Ye Wuya rubbed his nose and glanced at the stunned crowd. "Alright, let's go in. Xiaoxiao, remember to send that coffin lid to the Scripture Pavilion later."
"Phew," Ye Wuya sighed internally. Fortunately, he had medical skills to fall back on, and with his vast divine sense, spotting those issues was a piece of cake!
It took a long time for Jiang Xiaoxiao to react.
"Okay!" Jiang Xiaoxiao nodded heavily. Though she didn't know what had just happened, it felt incredibly impressive.
***
The Scripture Pavilion was located on a peak at the far end, a massive wooden structure. It bored Jiang Xiaoxiao to tears. In the Immortal Moon Holy Land, there wasn't a single scripture pavilion she couldn't enter. Her master, the Rakshasa Enchantress Xuan Yueshang, didn't care about her, so she was forced to look at these things every day until she got a headache at the mere sight of a book. Even high-level immortal techniques were plentiful to her; she just lacked the cultivation to use them. Such a small place was merely a corner compared to the archives of the Immortal Moon Holy Land, failing to pique her interest in the slightest.
Seeing this, Jiang Xiaoxiao’s mood couldn't help but dampen.
A hand rested on her shoulder, bringing her a sudden sense of peace. She looked at the person beside her, his stern face coming into view. Her master never seemed to smile; he was always calm, reassuring, and provided a profound sense of security.
"Stop staring. Go in. You are not to step out for half a year," the Seventh Elder snorted.
"You’re courting death!"
Just as Jiang Xiaoxiao was about to explode, Ye Wuya patted her shoulder, signaling her to stay calm. The Seventh Elder glanced at her with disdain, clearly annoyed by this black-robed man who had challenged the Deputy Sect Master upon arrival, and this veil-wearing girl who acted like a lunatic.
Ye Wuya rubbed his chin and nodded lightly. Since he had agreed to stay in the Scripture Pavilion for half a year, he would keep his word. As someone who enjoyed being a shut-in, he found the prospect of staying indoors indefinitely quite pleasant. Once he emerged, he likely wouldn't have the chance to be a recluse again—two women were still waiting for him!
He walked inside slowly, sensing the vast collection of ancient texts surrounding him.
"Once you're in, come to the top floor," a voice transmitted directly into Ye Wuya’s ear.
Ye Wuya looked around; the disciples of the Scripture Pavilion were there, but Jiang Xiaoxiao and the Seventh Elder had already left. Jiang Xiaoxiao had once said that there was no one in the entire Yan territory who could hurt her.
He stepped onto the wooden stairs and climbed slowly. Upon reaching the top floor, Ye Wuya scanned the room and spotted the location of the large orb of light. He pushed the door open and sat down slowly.
"You certainly don't stand on ceremony," the Deputy Sect Master remarked with a light huff.
"Why should I stand on ceremony? Didn't you say I am now a member of your Qingyun Sect? If you have something to say, just say it," Ye Wuya replied calmly.
"That coffin lid of yours is quite unusual," the Deputy Sect Master said with a smile, ignoring the direct question.
Ye Wuya shook his head slightly. "Is that the only reason you brought me here?"
"Of course not. I am simply curious why you came to the Qingyun Sect," the Deputy Sect Master said, smiling.
"Does it matter?" Ye Wuya countered.
"Very well. It seems you don't wish to say anything. I know you are dangerous, but you hold no malice toward my Qingyun Sect; otherwise, you wouldn't have arrived so conspicuously. I hope I haven't misjudged you. Fine, the room next door is yours. Read whatever scriptures you wish."
The Deputy Sect Master said much more...
"I will browse as I please," Ye Wuya said flatly.
With a slight bow of farewell, Ye Wuya returned to his room. The Deputy Sect Master watched his retreating figure quietly, a faint smile soon tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"Interesting. A man with an incredibly powerful divine sense, yet his meridians are shattered, rendering him a cripple—and he still managed to train a Golden Core disciple."
"He is a person worth watching, especially before the entire Immortal Chant undergoes a radical change..."
Ye Wuya intended to understand everything thoroughly first. He discovered that his divine sense had been growing incessantly ever since the appearance of the blood-gold characters. He didn't know exactly why, but it was certainly related to them. Coming to the Qingyun Sect to read their archives was also partly to research these ancient blood-gold scripts. This was something he couldn't let others discover!
Generally speaking, those who focused on cultivating divine sense rarely had auxiliary aids. Ye Wuya understood this; the only path was to constantly exhaust one's mental energy and let it recover. Yet, he felt full of energy every day; he could go two years without sleep and feel perfectly fine.
