Chapter Thirteen: I Am Not a Demon
At this moment, Ye Wuyia’s mind was in utter turmoil, as though a thousand wild horses were galloping through his thoughts. If what Xueqing said was true, then he would have to face not only more than a dozen experts at the Celestial Realm, but also those nine “wives” he had never met before! If they found out he was an imposter, occupying their husband’s body…
Just thinking about it sent a chill straight to his skull, his whole body tensed with dread.
“So, from the moment I left the mountains, you already knew about me?” Ye Wuyia asked.
“Yes, I’ve been secretly watching over you. When Ruyue saved you that day, I was there in the shadows as well,” Xueqing replied with a nod.
“And the one drinking tea in my room that day… was it you?” Ye Wuyia recalled that faint fragrance. He’d noticed it on Xueqing when they first met, but not since.
Xueqing shook her head.
Seeing her denial, Ye Wuyia immediately grew tense.
“Then they should know I’ve awakened. Why haven’t they come to see me?” he asked the most crucial question.
Xueqing was easier to handle since she only knew the real demon, but if his “wives” arrived, they would surely see through him. Ye Wuyia needed to know why none of them had come.
“Their power is formidable. Although Immortal Moon Pavilion is the greatest force here, it is also the focal point of everyone’s attention. If they appeared together, the other factions would take notice. If those factions learned you had awakened, and you’d lost your cultivation, a great conflict could erupt at any moment. Even so, one of them has come,” Xueqing said.
“Who? And why hasn’t she come to find me?” Ye Wuyia pressed.
“She is of the Demon Clan. You haven’t seen each other for thousands of years. She doesn’t know how to face you, and she’s still in the Immortal Moon Pavilion in Ling City,” Xueqing replied.
“Did you see her before coming here?” Ye Wuyia asked nervously.
Xueqing nodded. “Yes, I went back and met her.”
So it was true! The one drinking tea in the room earlier must have been her.
Looking at Xueqing, Ye Wuyia asked anxiously, “Is she still here?”
Xueqing closed her eyes, letting a vast spiritual sense expand outward.
After a moment, she opened her eyes, her face paler and frail. “I just checked with my divine sense. She’s still in the pavilion and hasn’t come out.”
Hearing this, Ye Wuyia let out a sigh of relief.
He looked at Xueqing with utmost seriousness. “Xueqing, don’t tell her that I know these things.”
“Why? Does Husband not miss them?” Xueqing asked, puzzled.
Ye Wuyia complained inwardly: I just got three beautiful wives and haven’t even touched them yet. Miss them? Like hell I do! I don’t want to die!
Even though that’s how he felt, he couldn’t show it. He decided he must make Xueqing his woman as soon as possible, so her loyalty wouldn’t waver. If she ever slipped up, he’d be doomed.
Staring deep into Xueqing’s eyes, Ye Wuyia’s voice softened. “I am not some demon, nor the master of the First Pavilion. Right now, I’m just the husband of you, Xueqing, Ye Ruyue, and Ye Ruxue. Understand? The past me—I don’t even want to know about him. Today, you haven’t told me anything, and I know nothing, alright?”
Xueqing hugged his waist tightly and nodded. “Yes! I’ll tell no one. This is our secret, just between us!”
He touched his lips, finding his teeth had returned to normal at some point. Since things had come to this, he would accept his fate.
“Alright, Husband, see if you feel any discomfort. They’ll be waking soon,” Xueqing said, blushing with a hint of shyness.
Ye Wuyia quickly changed the subject. “By the way, how are Yue’er and Xue’er?”
“They’re fine. I gave them a cultivation technique suited for the Ice Heaven Divine Physique. They’ve just entered a deep cultivation state. Right now, they’re at the ninth level of the Body Refinement Realm and will wake soon,” Xueqing explained, pointing to where Ye Ruyue and Ye Ruxue sat in meditation.
Seated himself, Ye Wuyia checked his condition. He felt as though he could punch an ox to death with one fist!
The two sisters, Ye Ruyue and Ye Ruxue, opened their eyes at the same moment.
“Sis, I think I’ve reached the ninth level! I actually advanced three whole levels!” Ye Ruxue stared blankly at her sister. She had started cultivating at six, practiced for nine years to reach the sixth level, and today had suddenly leaped to the ninth.
“I think I’m at the ninth level too!” Ye Ruyue also gazed at her sister in astonishment.
“You really have reached the ninth level. After tonight, you might even break through to Spirit Gathering Realm,” Xueqing teased with a mischievous smile.
“Xueqing, you’re so bad!” Ye Ruxue said, blushing.
“Xueqing, how long have we been cultivating?” Ye Ruyue asked.
“It’s been three days,” Xueqing replied.
Three days? They had been cultivating for so long! Usually, she could manage at most an hour or two before feeling a strong resistance from her body, but the Ice Heaven Divine Art seemed made just for her.
“Ah! Sis, look—Husband, our husband!” Ye Ruxue exclaimed.
“What about Husband?” Ye Ruyue quickly asked.
They both looked up toward Ye Wuyia.
There sat an exceedingly handsome young man, about twenty years old, gazing back at them.
His long white hair cascaded down his back, a high-bridged nose and thin lips, sword-like brows slanting into his temples, a few locks of white framing his striking profile. His features were exquisitely carved, chiseled and flawless, peerlessly handsome.
Though his appearance suggested a carefree, unruly spirit, the glint in his eyes hinted at something formidable, making it impossible to underestimate him. Beneath those sword-like brows were a pair of slender, beguiling eyes, brimming with affection, easily drawing others in. His well-shaped lips held a dazzling, mesmerizing smile.
His long lashes quivered slightly, the corners of his cool lips tracing a graceful arc, glowing with a tender luster.
Within the deep black of his pupils, a faint crimson shimmered, making his gaze all the more profound. His long fangs gleamed coldly, adding an air of indifference and an aura of wicked charm.
