Chapter Fifty-Nine: Green Sandalwood That Doesn’t Seem Like a Good Person
“Hm?” Jade Sandalwood was momentarily confused before realizing what method You Xiyue was asking about to find Xueyu. He took off the universe pouch at his waist, rummaged through it for a while, and pulled out a snowball-shaped object, holding it up to You Xiyue.
“This is my master’s demon power orb. Xueyu loves to eat it most of all. She’ll definitely catch the scent and come looking for it.”
“Really?” You Xiyue took it, examined it closely, and tucked it into the purse at her waist.
“Yes, absolutely. Senior, may I follow you?”
“Oh.”
You Xiyue turned and continued walking, Jade Sandalwood excitedly trailing after her.
Jun Yang quietly sent a voice transmission to You Xiyue, “Little Ancestor, are we really going to bring him along? I feel like he’s plotting something.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
If there is indeed a scheme, whether he sticks with them or lurks in the shadows, it makes little difference.
The three soon descended the mountain and made their way to Red Fort Town on the opposite side of Heavenly Fire Mountain.
Red Fort Town was three times larger than Scarlet Flame City, and far livelier. There was none of the odd coexistence between cultivators and demons here.
The most famous site in Red Fort Town was the Pavilion of Immortal Treasures.
The Pavilion of Immortal Treasures sat at the very center of Red Fort Town, a striking five-story building. The fourth and fifth floors offered lodging, while the first three were for dining and entertainment.
Every first day of the month, a grand auction was held here. The auction was renowned throughout the immortal realm and even the divine realm, attracting all kinds of rare treasures and immortal pills, drawing people from both worlds.
The three wandered as they walked, soon arriving at the Pavilion of Immortal Treasures.
Jade Sandalwood was considered a regular here, having visited many times to investigate the demon clan disappearances.
“Seniors, is there any treasure you desire? Today happens to be the first of the month, and the auction in the Pavilion of Immortal Treasures is bustling beyond words.”
Jun Yang glanced up at the imposing signboard, a little disdainful. He’d heard of the place before, and his clansmen had visited, but it was far less impressive than expected—not a single item they wanted was found, and they complained about it for days afterwards.
You Xiyue had even less interest in treasures, and disliked crowds, turning away to find another place.
However, as she turned, she thought of food, and with food, she remembered Heavenly Pepper Flowers—her supply was running low.
“Is there an auction for Heavenly Pepper Flowers here?”
The mention of Heavenly Pepper Flowers made Jun Yang’s eyes light up.
“Heavenly Pepper Flowers…” Jade Sandalwood stroked his chin thoughtfully. “There were some last month, but only two blossoms. Though they’re immortal-grade, they only grow on Celestial Mountain in the divine realm, which is extremely dangerous. So even in auctions, their numbers are very limited.”
“As long as there are some.” You Xiyue changed her mind again, leading Jade Sandalwood and Jun Yang into the Pavilion.
With the auction underway, the Pavilion was indeed lively. The tables on the first floor were almost all occupied, and the railings on the second floor were crowded with spectators.
A young attendant noticed the trio entering and immediately spotted the cloud-patterned shawl on You Xiyue’s arm.
Though he couldn't name it, that shawl radiated powerful spiritual energy, even emitting occasional spiritual pressure.
Such a level of spiritual artifact could only be divine-grade or higher.
Moreover, though he was merely a Pavilion attendant, he was already an Immortal Lord in cultivation—he could recognize quality.
You Xiyue was so young, yet he couldn't see through her cultivation level. Naturally, he dared not show any disrespect.
“Honored guests, are you here to stay or to attend the auction?”
“To stay, and to attend the auction,” replied You Xiyue.
“The first and second floors are full. Would the three guests like a private room on the third floor?”
You Xiyue nodded, “Please lead the way.”
“Certainly, please follow me.” The attendant warmly welcomed them upstairs, explaining the Pavilion’s rules along the way.
“Each table has a number card. Just raise it and bid directly, our auctioneer will be notified. There are many fine items today…”
Jun Yang curiously looked around; apparently, he saw no one from the divine realm and pursed his lips in boredom. “Supposedly famous in the divine realm, yet not one divine realm guest is here.”
The attendant disliked anyone disparaging his establishment, but smiled nonetheless. “You’ve misunderstood. The auction starts at noon, an hour from now. Divine realm guests don’t arrive this early—they’ve already booked rooms on the third floor. If you wish to meet them, you’ll see them soon.”
Jun Yang shot him a glare, “Who wants to meet them?”
The attendant kept smiling as he led them, “If you wish to consign items for auction, simply ask one of the maids to ring the bell by the door, and someone will come to handle it immediately.”
“Oh.” You Xiyue responded absentmindedly, unclear if she was truly listening.
Yet the attendant’s chatter continued, introducing the place all the way until they reached the private room, finally getting to the point, “Here, lodging is one earth-grade spirit stone per room per day, but this private room is one heaven-grade spirit stone per day.”
Jade Sandalwood’s eyelids flicked up in surprise. This must be the most expensive place in the immortal realm; he’d only ever eaten casually on the first floor, where prices were more reasonable.
You Xiyue remained utterly unperturbed, her expression calm as she reached into her universe pouch and pulled out a spirit stone.
It glowed white, seeming to emit a faint mist.
“Is this enough?”
The attendant’s eyes widened in shock. He’d seen many guests grumble about the prices after hearing them, but never someone so calmly produce an immortal-grade spirit stone.
A single immortal-grade spirit stone was worth a thousand heaven-grade spirit stones.
“It’s more than enough… We’ll deduct the cost of any auction items you win from this.” The attendant was far more respectful now, diligently opening the door to the private room for the trio.
Inside, two alluring women stood on either side, their figures graceful.
As the three entered, the women knelt and prostrated themselves. “Welcome, honored guests.”
You Xiyue frowned slightly. Jade Sandalwood was unfazed; many good immortal restaurants had such slave girls, though the Pavilion’s were more beautiful and had higher cultivation—these two were late-stage Immortal Kings, even stronger than him.
Jun Yang knew You Xiyue disliked such things, glanced at them and said, “Get up and stand aside.”
“Yes.” The women respectfully rose and moved to the corners of the room.
The attendant handed them the menu and began introducing the signature dishes.
Jun Yang had little patience; in his opinion, nothing here could match what he and his little ancestor usually ate. “Bring one of everything. You can leave now.”
“Yes, please wait, the dishes will be served shortly.” The attendant signaled the maids to be attentive, then withdrew.
Jun Yang picked up the teapot on the table, poured himself a cup, tasted it, and grimaced, handing it to Jade Sandalwood.
He then took a small silver flask from his universe pouch and poured You Xiyue a cup of spiritual spring water. “Drink this instead; the other is awful.”
