Chapter 150: Arriving at a Strange Place
Yue Si shook his head firmly. "The little senior is not as simple as you think; she will definitely return."
"Is that so?" Jing Jiang lowered his head to look at his own wounds, which had yet to heal. "She is indeed extraordinary, but that is the Ancestor of Demons. No one can escape the palm of his hand. Not just that little girl, Yue Si, you are no exception."
"You don't need to worry about me. You'd better worry about yourself first, my good master."
Yue Si had already drawn his sword, pointing it directly at Jing Jiang.
Although Jing Jiang was at a disadvantage, his emotions were not as agitated as Yue Si's. He said faintly, "Do you know, Yue Si? This scene has appeared in my dreams countless times."
Yue Si frowned in puzzlement, staring at Jing Jiang.
"I had a premonition long ago that my life would end at your hands, but I simply didn't expect it to come so soon."
Yue Si grew even more confused. What did Jing Jiang mean?
"In the beginning, I was actually the one groomed and prepared to be devoured by the Ancestor of Demons. But why did you have to appear? The ability to foresee one's own future and grow stronger seemed far more attractive, so I was discarded, and he chose you. From the very moment I laid eyes on you, I dreamed every single day of you drawing your sword against me. In truth, there wasn't a moment I didn't want to kill you and silence you forever, but that person would not allow it."
Jing Jiang smiled helplessly. "I thought that as long as I held on until you were devoured by him, I would be safe. I never expected things to happen so suddenly—we were only a month away."
Jing Jiang suddenly stood up, agitated, and walked toward Yue Si. "Yue Si, only a month! You were just a month away from meeting that person's standards for consumption."
Observing Jing Jiang's state, Yue Si realized something was clearly wrong and tightened his grip on his sword.
Jing Jiang grew increasingly delirious the more he spoke. "How about... we perish together, and leave that old bastard with nothing at all?"
Yue Si glared at Jing Jiang, who was drawing closer and closer, sensing a dire premonition.
Jing Jiang's robes suddenly began to swell outward.
The demonic Qi surrounding the Blood Skull Palace continuously poured into Jing Jiang's body.
Black demonic Qi filled the entire room.
Disregarding his still-bleeding wounds, Jing Jiang took another two steps toward Yue Si.
His complexion no longer resembled that of a living person—it was dark red, and his pupils had turned completely white.
His movements were like those of a walking corpse.
His limbs began to twist.
Seeing this, the five blood pearls once again transformed into blood blades, dragging outward to pull Yue Si along.
Finally snapping to his senses, Yue Si fled desperately toward the exit.
"Heh," Jing Jiang let out a final, chilling sneer.
With a flash, he appeared directly in front of Yue Si.
And lunged straight at him.
Yue Si's eyes widened in terror as he watched Jing Jiang's entire body explode.
A powerful wave of demonic Qi surged toward him.
Suddenly, You Xiyue dashed in front of Yue Si.
Raising her palm, she conjured a barrier to fend off the incoming demonic Qi.
Even for You Xiyue, the barrier formed in such haste developed a crack.
The blood blades flew toward the fracture, forming a secondary, umbrella-like defense on the inside of the barrier.
It took quite a while for the oppressive black demonic Qi to finally dissipate.
Yue Si collapsed limply onto the ground, gasping for breath as he looked at everything before him.
He truly had underestimated his master.
Even injured to that extent, he still possessed a means to drag him down to hell.
Regaining his composure, Yue Si looked up at You Xiyue. "Little senior, didn't you go to the Void Profound Netherworld?"
You Xiyue shook her head. "I sensed that something was wrong with Jing Jiang, so I came to your place first."
A trace of minor astonishment flickered in Yue Si's heart once again. Could she sense that something was wrong with Jing Jiang simply through the five blood pearls?
You Xiyue lowered her gaze to look at Yue Si. "Your master is dead. What do you plan to do?"
"I..." Yue Si hesitated.
You Xiyue frowned. "Don't tell me you still want to go to the Void Profound Netherworld to seek revenge on that Ancestor of Demons? As Jing Jiang said, even I might not escape unscathed from the hands of that Ancestor of Demons. You want to try your luck?"
When You Xiyue spoke these words, a trace of inexplicable anger laced her tone.
Yue Si shook his head resolutely, looking somewhat frightened by her expression. "I have no such thoughts. I know my own capabilities."
You Xiyue's expression softened slightly. "So? Have you decided? You know I possess the Immortal-Demon Yin-Yang Jade, which can completely absorb all the demonic Qi in your body and then send you into reincarnation. That was also Bai Ruomei's original dying wish."
Yue Si swallowed hard. Why did he always feel that You Xiyue's expression was somewhat terrifying?
He glanced again at the Yunxi Silk floating beside You Xiyue.
Sending him into reincarnation—he didn't even need to guess how that journey would be made.
"Was this truly her dying wish?"
You Xiyue nodded coldly. "Yes."
"Can I think about it a little longer?"
"As you wish." You Xiyue turned around and walked with the Yunxi Silk toward the secret chamber of the Blood Skull Palace.
The blood blades also flew back to You Xiyue's fingertips, vanishing into her body in the blink of an eye.
"Give me your decision when I return."
You Xiyue's voice drifted over from a distance.
Yue Si did not reply. Lowering his head, he sank into memories.
Should he obey Bai Ruomei's dying wish and enter reincarnation?
In reincarnation, there would no longer be a Bai Ruomei.
Suddenly, he found himself torn with contradiction.
You Xiyue stepped into the secret chamber.
At the very depths of the chamber lay a profound passage.
It had no visible end, nor could one guess what lay ahead.
However, if it merely consisted of demonic beasts like those in the Infinite Abyss, You Xiyue could still handle them.
Anything more formidable might prove somewhat difficult.
As for the Exorcism Needle, You Xiyue knew from Wulan's memories that it had been given to him by an old man.
The appearance of that old man was completely obscured and impossible to make out.
Thinking of Wulan, You Xiyue could not help but clench her fists once again.
Lost in thought, You Xiyue walked toward the Void Profound Netherworld.
At the end of the passage stood an iron door.
The iron door was unlocked and pushed open with ease.
This left You Xiyue somewhat surprised.
Could two worlds really be separated by a door as ordinary as this?
Upon stepping through, to You Xiyue's astonishment, there was no endless darkness.
It was entirely unlike what one would imagine of the netherworld.
Instead, the scenery here was breathtakingly beautiful.
It was on par with Star-Gazing Island.
There was no infestation of demonic beasts here, nor any of the horrifying, tragic sights one might expect.
You Xiyue furrowed her brow, pondering in silence.
"Could the method of opening it have been wrong?"
According to Yue Si's description, Jing Jiang always returned covered in wounds every time he came back from this place.
She had expected a bitter battle to await her the moment she opened the door.
Yet, it was calm to an absurd degree.
You Xiyue closed her eyes and released her divine sense.
Her divine sense swept out across a vast distance, but she could perceive nothing at all.
This felt almost like an unreal world.
"An illusionary technique?"
You Xiyue summoned the Yueying Sword.
Advancing step by step with utmost caution.
Suddenly, the bushes beside her rustled.
You Xiyue looked warily in that direction.
A fair and adorable young child emerged from the foliage.
With round eyes, the child looked shyly at You Xiyue.
"Elder sister? Do you know where this is? I'm lost."
"Lost?" You Xiyue did not step forward rashly. "What is your name? Where is your home?"
"Me?" The child smiled cutely. "My name is Ye Sheng, and I am a member of the Ye family from the upper continent of the Void Profound Realm."
"???" You Xiyue was puzzled. "Where is this place?"
Should she not have reached the Void Profound Netherworld of Jing Jiang's descriptions through that passage? How could she encounter a member of the Ye family from the upper continent of the Void Profound Realm here?
"Eh??" The child's cute smile instantly vanished, replaced by an expression of extreme disappointment. "Could it be that you're lost too, elder sister? You don't know where this is either??"
