Yue Si had just arrived at the Blood Skull Forest and stood dumbfounded as he took in the scene before him. The ground was littered with the corpses of demon clan members. Blood pooled everywhere. He then looked up at You Xiyue, disbelief etched across his face. Although You Xiyue’s clothes were spotless, and even Yun Xiling was immaculate, the tip of the Moonlight Sword clearly dripped with fresh blood. It was obvious without a doubt that these demons had been slain by You Xiyue herself.

He had never thought of You Xiyue as someone so bloodthirsty. Even at the demon realm’s entrance, the demons were only injured or knocked unconscious. But now, the ones lying on the ground had their eyeballs pierced, dying in a gruesome manner.

You Xiyue frowned at Yue Si’s expression but paid no mind to his thoughts. She swiftly leapt forward and kicked him. “Go open the door.”

“Huh?” Yue Si was momentarily caught off guard.

“I said, go open the gate of the Blood Skull Hall and lead me to the entrance of the Void Abyss Hell.”

“…Oh.” Yue Si looked as if he had been coerced, and You Xiyue kicked him again.

“Hurry up.”

You Xiyue’s impatience was palpable, whether genuine or feigned. Yue Si felt it was somewhat real, so he quickened his pace.

The grand gate of the Blood Skull Hall was made of marble, embedded with eight skulls arranged in an apparently random order. Each skull’s mouth was inlaid with strange stones of various colors. Yue Si carefully recalled and pressed the stones in what seemed like a haphazard sequence. The gate opened.

“This door is actually a Bagua formation; the order of pressing changes with the time…” Yue Si patiently explained, but You Xiyue had little interest in the mechanism and regarded his words as mere babble. Frowning again, she said, “Just lead the way.”

Yue Si hesitated, “I… lead you now?”

“Or else?” You Xiyue cast him a sidelong glance. “You want to wait until tomorrow to lead me?”

“It’s not that… I mean, if our demon lord finds out I brought you into his secret chamber, before you even come out of that Void Abyss Hell, I’m afraid you’ll have already been sacrificed…” Yue Si muttered softly, staring at You Xiyue’s displeased face. “Besides, I don’t even know if you can come out of that Void Abyss Hell alive. I haven’t avenged myself yet, and I don’t want to die.”

You Xiyue finally couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Yue Si, exhaling a breath. “Your demon lord is barely holding on himself. You can just take me to the entrance of the Void Abyss Hell and go avenge yourself alone.”

Yue Si looked up in astonishment, staring at You Xiyue. “What do you mean by that?”

You Xiyue’s brow furrowed deeper.

Yue Si awkwardly smiled. “We’ll talk as we walk.”

With that, he obediently led the way. You Xiyue’s expression finally softened somewhat.

“Before you came, I left some blood behind.”

“???” Yue Si was even more puzzled, raising his eyebrows in doubt.

You Xiyue said, “My blood is stronger than my Moonlight Sword’s combat power.”

“What?” Yue Si stopped in shock, watching You Xiyue’s brows knot again. “Your blood is stronger than your soul sword’s fighting power?”

He felt he understood the words but not the meaning—he grasped the literal meaning, but not the concept.

“You’ll see when you visit your demon lord.”

You Xiyue lifted the hand holding the Moonlight Sword, extended her index finger, and pointed in a direction. “Your demon lord is in the innermost room over there.”

Yue Si glanced toward the direction You Xiyue indicated. “That’s the demon lord’s bedchamber.”

Because the entrance was sealed with a restriction, he couldn’t sense what was happening inside.

“Can you sense what’s going on in that room?” Yue Si asked.

You Xiyue nodded slightly, indicating she could.

“With spiritual awareness?”

Yue Si’s tone was skeptical because the restriction on that room dated back to primordial times and was only recently discovered by their demon lord. No matter how high You Xiyue’s cultivation was, it would be impossible to probe inside with spiritual awareness.

You Xiyue shook her head. “I sense it through blood.”

“???” Yue Si was filled with question marks.

You Xiyue no longer explained but urged, “How much longer until the secret chamber?”

“Almost there.”

Yue Si lifted his chin. A stairway plunging into darkness was now directly ahead.

“The secret chamber’s door requires our demon lord’s blood to open. He rarely comes down here, only once every two or three months. Opening the door wastes quite a bit of blood,” Yue Si explained as he swept his sleeve, lighting all the candles along the stairway passage.

“Is that so?”

The two arrived before the secret chamber’s door, and You Xiyue immediately understood why Yue Si said opening this underground door was such a blood-wasting process: there was a cup embedded in the center of the door.

“The bottom of the cup has a small hole connecting to the copper lion heads on either side of the door.”

“You must fill the cup with blood, which then automatically flows into the eyes of the copper lions.”

“When the pupils of the copper lions light up, the door will open.”

Yue Si explained patiently. He had secretly observed this mechanism dozens of times before discovering it. Unfortunately, he had no way to obtain his demon lord’s blood, so unless the demon lord allowed him, he basically couldn’t enter.

You Xiyue nodded knowingly. “I see.”

“So… should we get blood from the demon lord’s bedchamber first?” Yue Si tentatively proposed, noticing You Xiyue showed no sign of turning back and was just staring blankly at the door.

“No need.”

“No need?” Yue Si looked at You Xiyue again in confusion.

You Xiyue raised her right hand and made two gestures in front of her chest, like forming a seal.

Suddenly, a red light burst forth at her feet, forming an indecipherable pattern. The light was eerie, causing Yue Si to involuntarily step back two paces. His instincts told him the pattern was complex and extremely dangerous.

While he was still studying the red light’s pattern, a slender river of blood drifted through the air toward the door.

Rubbing his eyes, Yue Si looked again, wondering if the red light had blurred his vision. But no—the blood river continued flowing toward the door, streaming into the cup on the secret chamber’s door.

The blood slowly seeped through the small hole into the copper lions’ eyes.

Yue Si turned toward the source of the blood flow.

It was coming from their demon lord’s bedchamber.

“No way??”

Yue Si was stunned, though hard to believe, he was certain this blood belonged to his master, the demon lord.

“The way the blood flows like this…”

Yue Si suspected that without his intervention, his master might soon die from blood depletion.

So what exactly was the pattern that had formed beneath You Xiyue’s feet? How could it draw blood from someone without them even launching an attack?

Yue Si lost interest in the secret chamber and hurried toward his master’s bedchamber, which was in Jingjiang.

When he reached the door, the blood river showed no sign of stopping.

Normally, he couldn’t open this door either, but this time, as he approached, it opened on its own.

His heart pounded as he peered inside.

Everything before his eyes felt like a dream.
