Single Chapter

I had been meaning to write this standalone chapter for a long time, but never put pen to paper.

First, about last night’s rankings: I want to explain that it was indeed an oversight. I had thought the chapter at the very end could serve as a full stop, so I let Yueyue say that line about not wanting to read it if she did not want to look at the rankings, and that it made no difference either way.

But I never expected that what everyone cared about was not the ranking itself, but the performance. When I was about to go to sleep, I was left a little dazed.

That was truly a lapse on my part. I have been writing for so long and still failed to grasp the point that mattered most. I apologize to the readers who have been following this story all along.

As for the issue of the protagonist’s characterization: this book is set up with the main character as a recent college graduate, so he has many of the various shortcomings ordinary people have.

He is not like those protagonists in other stories who appear at the outset as business tycoons, company executives, or special forces soldiers, with the addition of a dream-based reading ability and a transmigration cheat. For that reason, I saw the criticism of the protagonist in the early chapters. It was within my expectations, though the outcome still exceeded them in ways I had not anticipated.

I have also been working hard to adjust things and help the protagonist grow faster. As for the later part, the book reviews are still something I hope everyone will continue to voice their opinions on, and I also ask for a little mercy from everyone.

Even Guo Degang has said it: those of us who come out to make a living by performing will receive as much praise as abuse; if you only want praise and cannot bear criticism, then you should not be in this line of work.

That was how I used to think as well, but after writing for so many years, I have only grown more and more fragile. So please, if you must scold me, do it gently!
