Sanjiang Remarks and Important Notice

The book will go on sale next Friday. After that, I will still be updating two chapters a day, but each chapter will grow to about 3,000 to 4,000 characters, which means at least 6,000 characters a day.

Because of Qidian’s current review system, certain content may be cut without notice to the author. To avoid that, I will replace such passages in the main text with "(...)".

If you see a passage like "(...)" in a chapter, be sure to check the chapter notes, because anything that can be posted there has definitely passed review and will not be censored.

What follows is a personal note. If you do not wish to read it, you may skip ahead.

First, I want to thank my editor, A Fei. Without an editor willing to take this book, nothing else would matter.

In all the years I have been writing, I have had two homepage strong recommendations, but this is my first time ever making it onto the Three Rivers recommendation list.

To be honest, when I wrote this book, I did not expect to come this far. I know that slice-of-life fiction may have a slight edge over sports and suspense, but within urban fiction it is still a niche genre. My original reason for writing it was that everyday stories carry less bitterness and aggression. Life is already exhausting and hard enough; at least in a book, one can be a little more relaxed and have a little sweetness.

Making it onto the Three Rivers list means that there really are many readers following this book. That is one of the things Qidian does very well: readers of niche fiction often cherish the books they love more deeply and are more willing to keep up with them.

I have nothing else to repay you with, so I can only keep working hard and updating.

I have a week’s worth of finished chapters saved up, just in case there is a power outage, an internet failure, or some other emergency. If the updates suddenly stop without warning, then something must have happened to me.

Lastly, I would like to ask for your subscriptions and ongoing support after the book goes on sale. Slice-of-life stories are slow to warm up, and many readers prefer to let them build for a while before starting. But subscriptions are what count as an author’s performance. If you wait until the book is finished before subscribing, the author may still earn money, but it will not help the book’s standing at all. It is much like cramming high school material after the college entrance exam: even if you end up learning the same knowledge as everyone else, you have already failed the exam.

I am not asking everyone to keep up every day. Reading it once every week or two is perfectly fine. But letting it sit for three or five months before picking it up again is really too much. Thank you all.
