Chapter Ten: Protagonists are Always Saints!~
"Are you really sure you want to give the key to them?"
Hao Yun's expression turned slightly grim. He could tolerate Sam's breakdown, and he could excuse him for unfairly blaming him out of ignorance... But he would absolutely, under no circumstances, tolerate treason!
Humans, even in death, must only die on the path of fighting for humanity! Want to become a traitor to mankind? Hao Yun would tear him apart with his own hands!
Just as Sam was about to answer, Mikaela sensed something was amiss and quickly tugged at his sleeve.
"Mikaela, you—"
Turning back to glare at him, Mikaela signaled him to shut up and took the initiative to ask about the key herself.
"Master, is there something special about that key?"
"Forget it, I suppose I can't entirely blame you two. Let me explain what this super energy source is all about first."
Hao Yun sighed and explained the origin of the super energy from the second film.
"The so-called super energy is actually stellar energy. The AllSpark is formed from the condensed energy after a star is destroyed, and it is the source from which the Cybertronians were born.
A very, very long time ago—so long ago that the ancient Egyptian civilization was already established—the Transformers came to Earth.
Back then, they set their sights on our Sun, intending to destroy it to manufacture super energy as a strategic reserve for the Cybertronian race. However, the Autobots among the Cybertronians steadfastly maintained that a star guarded by a planet harboring life must never be destroyed. Therefore, when the Fallen insisted on destroying the Sun anyway, they paid with their lives to seal its energy key here on Earth, with the coordinates hidden within the AllSpark.
When the AllSpark was destroyed last time, the remaining fragments recorded the location of the key. Once the Decepticons discover Sam, they will be able to find the key, and subsequently activate the star-harvesting solar harvester built during the Egyptian era, using the Sun once again as fuel to forge a new AllSpark and resurrect the Cybertronian race."
At this point, Hao Yun paused, his gaze turning playful as he looked at Sam.
"Now, do you still intend to tell the Decepticons where the key is sealed?"
Everyone's eyes snapped toward Sam in unison, and Witwicky even felt a sudden impulse to execute righteousness on behalf of family.
Are you kidding me? Once the Sun is destroyed, one hundred percent of the human race on Earth will perish... Just think of the consequences of human extinction; no one could ever bear the blame of causing the annihilation of their own species!
"Of course not!" Sam blurted out without a second thought, his reflex overriding hesitation. "No, I'm going to find the key, resurrect Optimus Prime, and let him harvest energy somewhere else!"
"You really are a bleeding-heart saint, aren't you?"
Hao Yun shook his head. If he were in Sam's shoes, he would undoubtedly want to keep the key strictly in his own hands. However, having watched the movie, he knew very well that as long as the key—the Matrix of Leadership—was found, the Autobots could gradually be revived... The Matrix of Leadership itself was a super energy source.
It was just that the energy output of the Matrix of Leadership was limited, unlike the AllSpark, which could pump out power mindlessly.
"Don't worry, there are plenty of useless stars in this universe. Optimus Prime is a smart man; he has no reason to target the Sun!"
"Master, non-human races are—"
Mikaela leaned somewhat toward a decisive, ruthless mindset. Even right in front of Bumblebee and the others, she voiced these words without the slightest hesitation.
Hao Yun rubbed her hair soothingly and replied, "With the Matrix of Leadership, Optimus Prime can slowly rebuild the Autobot forces. Once their numbers grow, they can naturally migrate to other regions to harvest energy... Although he also values his people and wishes to revive Cybertron, this faction prefers gentle and harmless methods. And that, precisely, is the difference between the Decepticons and the Autobots."
"Fine, as long as you know what you're doing, Master."
Mikaela shrugged. She was merely a pitiful little disciple; with a boyfriend resembling a son of destiny and an invincible master, she could just comfortably play cheerleader in the background and shout words of encouragement.
Making the big decisions? Did that have anything to do with her?
"So who are we supposed to find to translate the coordinates in my brain now?"
Sam looked back at Hao Yun again, trying to extract the answer from him.
Hao Yun shook his head. He genuinely didn't know where the Matrix of Leadership was hidden... When he watched the film back then, it never specified the exact coordinates!
"Did you really think being a child of destiny and the protagonist of an era was that easy? You have to find it yourself, Sam. I am a prophet; I can at most give you a few pointers. The actual work is still something you have to do yourself!"
"I know!"
Abruptly, Sam's roommate Leo, who had remained silent all this time, raised his right hand high!
"Leo, you know?"
Sam was overjoyed. Compared to the powerful and unfathomable Hao Yun, he actually trusted Leo, whom he hadn't known for very long, somewhat more.
This was human nature: power invariably bred fear and dread, without exception!
And that was precisely why, in the MCU universe, no matter how many good deeds Tony and the others performed, the American government and even the United Nations regarded them with extreme apprehension!
"Have you ever heard of that robot website? They once talked with me online—"
Leo loudly recounted his online experiences. Hao Yun let the youngsters mess around however they pleased; with Sam around, he could just sit back and secure a free victory.
Still, one could imagine that after experiencing being driven away by humans, the Autobot robots must have already begun to develop a rift of distrust toward the humans of this universe, right?
Leaving the group to track down Simmons—the former head of Sector Seven—Hao Yun used ninjutsu disguise to take the Witwicky couple and arrived in Egypt ahead of everyone else.
Since Sam and the others would end up coming here to resurrect Optimus Prime anyway, his coming along was merely a precaution.
"Protoss—wait, Potts—is really no one going to notice us?"
Witwicky still harbored doubts about Hao Yun's disguise technique, walking through the streets of Egypt with timid, hesitant steps.
Hao Yun shrugged. "Be confident, brother Witwicky. Look around you; has a single person discovered your true identity?"
"Uh... Well, I suppose not. I never imagined that in my lifetime, I'd actually get to visit Egypt. Honey, let's go buy some local specialties to bring back to New York."
Witwicky took a few bolder steps. Realizing that no one had recognized them as wanted fugitives, he completely let go of his worries. Following Hao Yun's advice, as the elders, they shouldn't go meddling in their children's affairs.
Enjoying a nice vacation for a few days without having to risk life and limb—wasn't that wonderful?
On the other side, Sam, accompanied by Simmons, his girlfriend, and his roommate squad, had successfully resurrected Jetfire and arrived in Egypt with his assistance.
That night, Mikaela and Sam lay on a rooftop, snuggling together as they gazed far off into the distance at the peak of the pyramids.
"Being my girlfriend is hazardous to your health..."
"Girls like dangerous boys."
As the two chatted about the various perilous events that had transpired recently, they both shared a profound sense of having survived life and death together...
For some reason, as Mikaela accompanied Sam tonight, it didn't feel as sweet as it used to... Perhaps Sam's saintly, bleeding-heart behavior made her feel somewhat uneasy.
The key possessed the power to destroy the Sun, yet Sam had willingly handed its ownership over to Optimus Prime... To be honest, Mikaela truly could not bring herself to agree with that decision.
Isn't it always safest to keep dangerous things firmly in your own hands?
