Chapter Four: Flerken!

A Flerken? One of the most terrifying creatures in the universe? How did it end up here?

So, was Goose's appearance inevitable? It wasn't waiting around in the database at all; it was looking for Carol?

"Goose?"

Hao Yun crouched down, scratched the cat's chin, and instinctively called out the ginger cat's name.

"Meow!" The moment Hao Yun touched it, the cat's fur stood on end, its face full of vigilance. "Meow-meow!"

That cry seemed to be saying: Stay away from me?!

Thinking of Goose's attitude toward Carol, Rambeau, and Nick Fury in the original plot, Hao Yun's smile grew more playful. This little fellow can sense the differences in everyone's internal energy, right?

Is that why it is affectionate toward Carol while showing disdain for Rambeau and Fury?

As for himself, he had already reached the peak of the Fatherly tier, just a step away from the Galactic tier, which was why it acted so terrified?

"Ha, don't worry, I won't hurt a cute little creature like you."

Picking it up to rub its little belly, feeling its body relax and the cat's head deliberately nuzzling against him, Hao Yun became even more satisfied.

Perhaps, when he travels to other worlds on missions, he could bring this little fellow along?

Over there, Carol and Rambeau were still chatting about what happened after they parted ways, and in the distance, a car was already driving over. It seemed Nick Fury had tracked them down.

The car stopped, and sure enough, it was Nick Fury.

"Who the hell are you people? Why can't I find any records of you?"

As soon as Nick Fury stepped out, he asked without any courtesy.

Having missed the interrogation and heart-to-heart talk in the bar, coupled with witnessing his partner transform into an alien with his own eyes, Nick Fury's tone was extremely blunt, fully displaying the anxiety of a secret agent.

Hao Yun beckoned, calling him over, and with a single point of his finger, he transmitted the information about the Skrulls and Kree directly into Fury's mind using the Shushan technique of spiritual enlightenment.

When Nick regained consciousness, his face was full of disbelief.

"You're saying the Skrulls can take the form of anyone, right down to their genetics?! And the Kree are a race obsessed with invading other civilizations? Carol is a human super-soldier brainwashed by the Kree?"

"Yes, she is Carol, a former Earth warrior and current member of the Kree Starforce."

Hao Yun was growing increasingly fond of the spiritual enlightenment method in Shushan's cultivation arts; many things could be directly imparted without the need for endless explanations.

Talking too much makes one thirsty, doesn't it?

"Then who are you?"

Nick Fury temporarily set aside his shock and turned his gaze to Hao Yun. "With such miraculous magic, you shouldn't be an ordinary person, right?"

"Uh..." Hao Yun scratched his head, unsure of how to respond. Naturally, his identity as someone from later generations must never be exposed. "I'm just an ordinary person, with just a few special abilities. You don't need to stare at me."

"Is that so?"

Nick Fury looked at him strangely. Deep down inside, that desire to form a team of super-powered individuals was stirring once again.

Perhaps, after this incident concluded, he could try inviting this guy to join.

Inside the courtyard, Carol and Rambeau's chat was drawing to a close, having already gone over everything that happened after their separation.

"Steven Chow!"

Carol called out to Hao Yun, gesturing him over. "Let me introduce you. This is my former teammate and best friend, Maria Rambeau!"

"Hello, Ms. Rambeau. You are very charming."

Hao Yun gave a gentlemanly bow and lightly kissed the back of her hand.

Rambeau covered her mouth with a giggle. As a soldier, this was the first time she had ever been treated like a proper lady!~

"Ugh, Rambeau, you're getting more fake by the minute..." Carol shuddered, shaking off the goosebumps as she teased her friend.

Rambeau rolled her eyes at her in annoyance. This best friend was definitely broken!~

"Alright, you're all Carol's friends. You haven't eaten yet, have you? Come on inside."

Rambeau ushered everyone in, taking the opportunity to introduce her daughter to them.

While Rambeau went to the kitchen to cook, Nick Fury looked solemnly at Carol.

"Lieutenant Carol Danvers. Oh, that's the rank assigned to you after you were declared missing..."

Nick explained briefly, then continued to question her: "Do you have any intelligence on the Skrulls and the Kree that you can share with me?"

"Well... the only thing I can tell you is that neither of them are good guys!"

Danvers hesitated for a moment before explaining to Nick: "The Kree go without saying—they're an aggressive, expansionist race. But don't worry, I'll deal with them personally to prevent Earth from being invaded. As for the Skrulls, they can completely transform into another person, another race, to the point where even genetic scanning can't detect them.

According to Kree intelligence, the Skrulls are an evil race. They focus on infiltrating the upper echelons of other societies, slowly replacing them until they conquer them."

"Put that way, the Skrulls don't sound like good guys either?"

Nick stroked his chin and said, "Based on my recent experiences, I can confirm that our own human leadership has already been infiltrated by Skrulls... Wait, my boss—could he be a Skrull too?!~"

Nick's expression changed drastically as he recalled the strange orders his superior had given him earlier!~ Aliens had clearly appeared, yet he was explicitly told not to tell a soul. What if a colleague had been attacked? Wouldn't that mean not a single word of news would ever get out?!~

"Actually, we're the good guys..."

Just as Nick was demonizing the Skrulls' behavior, a strange voice suddenly came from the direction of the kitchen.

Nick, Hao Yun, and Carol turned their heads in unison. A green-skinned, pointy-eared fellow was leaning against the doorframe, slurping on a cup of cola, and said with an utterly innocent expression.

"Rambeau!~"

Carol lunged forward, her entire body blazing with radiant energy!

Hao Yun hurriedly stepped aside. This Binary mode activation was just too overpowered!~

"She's fine, she's fine!~ She's outside playing, I swear, we really don't have the slightest bit of malice!~"

The Skrull hurriedly raised both hands and pointed through the window at Rambeau playing with her daughter... Are you kidding me? Is this woman even human? The surging energy radiating from her could probably tear apart a warship with her bare hands, right?

And they had been fighting against such a freak this whole time?

"Hmph!~ State your name, or else..."

Carol glanced outside at the unharmed mother and daughter, as well as the Skrull disguised as a neighbor, realizing that the Skrulls had deliberately taken hostages. With a cold hoot, she refused to back down an inch!~

She believed that with her around, if her best friend lost so much as a single hair, she would make the Skrull in front of her pay with his life!~

"Talos, leader of the Earth-bound Skrulls."

The Skrull reported his name with a wronged expression. "We truly mean no harm, please believe me!~"
