In the bedroom, Kellya didn’t remain unconscious for long and soon awoke from her deep sleep.

“Ugh… Hao Yun, I’m so hungry,” she murmured coquettishly, stepping out of the room in her pajamas.

Then, her eyes landed on a table laden with high-energy foods—braised pork belly, stewed pork knuckle, fried chicken—and, beside the table, an energy serum.

“Hao Yun, are you treating me like a pig?” she asked.

“No, Kellya, you’re about to become one,” he teased, helping her to a seat at the table. “Eat quickly. After the gene serum injection, your body will require tremendous energy to transform, so I prepared extra food just in case your metamorphosis isn’t complete.”

“Hmm… alright, I’ll trust you this once. Hehe, actually, I’m really hungry too!” Kellya relaxed upon hearing it was just a necessary step in the transformation process. She didn’t want Hao Yun to think of her as greedy—it would be embarrassing!

Looking at the delicious spread before her, Kellya’s mouth watered uncontrollably, her entire being screaming, “I want to eat!”

Disregarding her image, she grabbed a pork knuckle and stuffed it into her mouth. Hao Yun quietly turned his head away and stood up, walking out to the balcony.

He believed that no girl would want her beloved to witness her devouring food so ravenously. Staying any longer would surely bring about a reckoning later. He wasn’t Tony Stark; he didn’t deserve such torment.

Beep… Beep…

While quietly waiting for Kellya to finish her meal, the communication watch on his wrist suddenly lit up.

He tapped it, and a hologram of Nova Supreme’s secretary, Casey, appeared in the air.

“Where’s Kellya?” Casey’s expression darkened immediately upon seeing it wasn’t her beloved daughter. Her tone was sharp.

“Uh… she’s eating right now. Should I call her to take the call?”

“No time,” Casey said urgently, clearly worried. “The jump point just received a message. A group called the Galactic Guardians specifically named the man by Kellya’s side—that’s you, right?”

Though phrased as a question, the tone was unmistakably direct.

Hao Yun scratched his head, amused that the “man by Kellya’s side” was spoken of by his mother-in-law. Not bad at all!

“Yes, that’s me. Their leader is Star-Lord, along with Gamora, Rocket, and others?”

“Correct. They want to meet you and participate in the fight against Ronan. I want to know if they are trustworthy and capable of handling Ronan.”

“Hmm… trustworthiness, yes. Gamora is determined to save the world and reclaim the Power Stone from Ronan. As for strength, they’re decent—enough to hold their own against Ronan for a few rounds. But because they escaped prison, Kellya has been wanting to capture them. You should think it over…”

“Enough,” Casey interrupted impatiently. “High-level decisions aren’t for a mere cop to debate. I’ll have them brought in. You and Kellya must come to headquarters immediately.”

“Yes, ma’am!” Hao Yun answered.

In truth, he wasn’t too eager to arrest the Galactic Guardians either—they were heroes destined to oppose Thanos in the future. But because of Kellya… well, the blame was passed along. Thanks, mother-in-law!

“Kellya, hurry up! Casey’s on the line—we need to get to headquarters fast!”

“Okay, give me ten more minutes to eat!”

From the living room came a muffled response, sounding like she was thoroughly enjoying her meal…

...

Ten minutes later, Kellya finally forced down enough food. She donned her police uniform, grabbed several bags of nutrient supplements, and left with Hao Yun.

“Hao Yun, my skin feels tight and uncomfortable,” Kellya complained in a petulant tone, her earlier heroic demeanor completely gone.

“Oh? Let me see.” Hao Yun shivered slightly and touched her face. Her skin was firm but hadn’t lost the softness and smoothness expected of a young woman.

“You’ve successfully transformed. Your body is now like steel armor—ordinary bullets won’t pierce you.”

“Really? That’s amazing!” Kellya’s expression instantly changed to delight as she touched herself all over. “Mmm, so sleek and eye-catching…”

“Ahem, Kellya, we’re out in public.”

Hao Yun covered his nose, turning away to whisper a reminder.

“Oh, right!” Kellya quickly resumed her usual serious patrol expression and glared fiercely at the nearby civilians.

The people, unaware why the officer was scowling, simply moved away with their children.

Soon, the two arrived at headquarters, where they saw Nova Supreme amidst the chaos in the lobby, along with the future Galactic Guardians.

“Mommy, what’s the situation?” Kellya skipped over, clinging to Casey’s arm with a cheerful smile.

“You little rascal, the Supreme is still here,” Casey said, poking her daughter’s forehead before turning to the Supreme.

The Supreme’s face was grave as he stared at the hologram before him. The jump point had just sent an alarm about a powerful jump energy surge.

“Ronan must be here.”

“Yes, it’s them!” Suddenly, a massive ship materialized at the jump point. Countless small drones swarmed out, advancing toward Xandar!

“Supreme, should we open fire?”

The Nova Corps commander restrained his urge to attack, seeking permission from headquarters.

The Nova Supreme clenched his teeth and looked at everyone. “Should we issue a warning first or request communication?”

“No. We should confront them head-on!” Gamora shouted. “We absolutely cannot let Ronan’s warship reach the surface. If the Power Stone contacts the planet, all organic life on Xandar and the Nova Corps will perish!”

“Kellya, what do you think?” The Supreme didn’t fully trust Gamora’s words; after all, she used to be Ronan’s lieutenant. Compared to Kellya, who was one of their own, Gamora’s credibility was less certain.

Kellya glanced at Hao Yun, who stepped forward confidently.

“Supreme, I agree with Gamora. Ronan has come to avenge the Kree’s shame. His only goal is to wipe out Xandar. This is a battle to the death—there will be no survivors on the losing side!”

“But, Supreme, we just signed a peace treaty with the Kree,” a diplomat nearby hesitated.

“They’ve come to attack us. Should we just let them make the first move? Supreme, we must seize the initiative in this war!” Hao Yun urged earnestly.

The Nova Corps, renowned for their dominance across the galaxy, were far stronger than the original story depicted. Their true combat power was far more terrifying—it was only because of the peace treaty that they had never fired a shot before.
