Chapter 107: The Big-Tailed Wolf
The host magnified Lu Yuxiu’s phone screen in the live broadcast room, and the contact label appeared before the eyes of countless fans. After the word “Baby,” there was a soft pink heart.
Lin Xi was instantly mortified, covering her face in embarrassment—it was truly a social death moment. The audience was overwhelmed by the sweetness; the private relationship between “God Xiu” and Xi Xi was unexpectedly tender, especially with Lu Yuxiu’s usual aloof persona crumbling before their eyes.
“This label is just too sweet!” the host exclaimed, unable to resist, handing the phone back to Lu Yuxiu.
Lu Yuxiu himself wasn’t calm either. For the first time, he looked a little embarrassed—this was a public execution.
“I wonder what label Little Xi has given our God Xiu?” The host put on a coaxing expression, as if tempting a child.
Despite Lin Xi’s desperate glances at Miya for help, the host took her phone from Miya and revealed the contact label to everyone.
It was very simple: “Big-Tailed Wolf.”
The audience exploded again:
“Incredible! She actually labeled him ‘Big-Tailed Wolf’—what did God Xiu do that can’t be spoken of?”
“I’m grinning like an auntie—Emperor and Empress CP are giving us too much sugar today!”
Lu Yuxiu was also surprised. He turned, his gaze burning into her, but Lin Xi couldn’t even look at him, her face flushed as if it would burst into flames. This was clearly a prank on her!
Wen Jin and Jiang He, seated on the side, desperately suppressed their laughter.
Lin Xi’s hand was on her lap, clutching the tablecloth so hard it nearly bloomed. Lu Yuxiu chuckled softly, and, without drawing attention, reached out beneath the table and took her hand in his. Their fingers intertwined, the smiles at their lips spreading.
“Haha, alright, today’s fan benefits are absolutely wonderful! Let’s not embarrass Little Xi any further!” The host seemed to have a pang of conscience, but Lin Xi grumbled inwardly—it was already too late, she truly wanted to cry.
“There’s a question for God Xiu: how do you respond to being Little Xi’s super fan on Weibo?” the host asked.
This time, Lin Xi was delighted—it was his turn to be embarrassed.
Unexpectedly, Lu Yuxiu handled it with ease, his expression calm and unhurried. “I think there’s nothing wrong with being my girlfriend’s super fan. It just means I pay attention to her quietly.”
The live room was instantly flooded with messages: “Wow, so sweet!”
Lin Xi was left speechless. In just a short while, he had developed a thick skin. She conceded—she was no match for him.
The host laughed, smoothly shifting the interview to the other pair, the lively “Sky-Howler CP.”
She smiled and said, “Let’s give Emperor and Empress CP a break for now. Is there anything Sky-Howler wants to share with us? I heard that Jiang He is the atmosphere booster in the filming crew—is that right?”
The host looked to Wen Jin for confirmation.
“Yes, absolutely. He’s very lively—Director Lu calls him the ‘live wire’ on set,” Wen Jin replied with a nod.
Jiang He pouted and said, “That’s right, there’s no helping it. Director Lu is very particular about quality and efficiency, so we have to stay highly focused every day. If we don’t relax a bit, we’d go silly before finishing the shoot.” He shrugged helplessly, inviting laughter.
“Haha, you really are something! Aren’t you afraid Director Lu will swoop in and give you a hard time?” Everyone was amused.
After some more time, the promotion for the drama “Glorious Era” and the interactions wrapped up, and the interview neared its end.
The host then spoke to the support staff present: “Does anyone have questions for our four actors? Here’s your chance.”
“I do, I do!” One long-haired young woman raised her hand excitedly, her cheeks flushed.
“Alright, it’s your turn. Ask away,” said the host.
The young woman spoke shyly: “My question is for Wen Jin.”
Wen Jin was a bit surprised, raising her brows as she looked at the girl, nodding for her to continue.
“Um…” The girl seemed nervous, licking her lips: “I’m a fan of Gu Yaoyao, so I wanted to ask, how have you two been getting along recently? Has your relationship been affected by the online comments? What are your plans for the future?”
Though she was gentle and reserved, she asked three questions at once, leaving Wen Jin a bit flustered.
Lin Xi noticed and joked to ease the atmosphere: “Haha, wasn’t it supposed to be one question? How did it turn into three?”
Wen Jin quietly patted Lin Xi’s hand, signaling she could answer.
Wen Jin smiled calmly: “Our relationship is pretty good. There were some effects from online comments before, but we’ve gotten through it, and it’s made us even more committed.”
Those familiar with the industry nodded quietly; they knew how much pressure the two had weathered during that period.
Lin Xi gently squeezed Wen Jin’s hand, feeling for her. It had been a dark time, but thankfully she and Fourth Brother had persevered, or else who knows how many regrets there would be now.
“As for future plans…” Wen Jin lowered her eyes, seeming to ponder.
The host, seeing this, was about to step in to block the question, but Wen Jin appeared very serene and spoke slowly.
“Actually, for personal reasons, I plan to temporarily step back from the entertainment industry.” Her words landed like a bomb.
The live broadcast chat exploded: “!!!”
“What?” Everyone present except Lin Xi looked at Wen Jin in surprise.
Wen Jin smiled brightly, her voice soft and gentle: “’Glorious Era’ may be the last drama of my career. I’ve been through a lot, and I’ve grown and discovered my true passion. So I’ve decided to switch careers—to give myself another chance.”
She spoke calmly, then smiled at the camera and nodded.
Lin Xi glanced at her in profile, and in that moment, she felt Wen Jin was glowing. To pursue one’s dream so resolutely was truly an honor, and doing what you love imbues you with life.
The chat, however, was anything but calm, firing off opinions once again:
“No way, she’s clearly retiring to marry into wealth and become a full-time wife! So lucky!”
“Lucky? She’s just got no ambition—found herself a rich husband so she doesn’t have to struggle anymore, and dresses it up so nicely? What a shame for Yaoyao—I was hoping he’d end up with our Wenwen, but he’s fallen for this minor star Wen Jin.”
“That’s way too sour, just trashing our Wen Jin. If you don’t like it, leave the stream. Stop meddling in her private life.”
In contrast to the live chat, the atmosphere on site remained warm. After Wen Jin finished speaking, the staff around her spontaneously applauded and cheered her on.
Lin Xi recalled a line from her favorite drama. She looked at Wen Jin, holding her hand beneath the table: “Go for it, Wen Jin! Those who pursue their dreams are forever young!”
Another round of applause broke out.
“Yes, just as Little Xi said—keep chasing your dreams and improving yourself. Let’s all support Wen Jin.” The host took the opportunity to promote: “As Wen Jin just mentioned, this drama may well be her last on screen, so everyone should catch it. We wish ‘Glorious Era’ great ratings! That’s the end of today’s live broadcast—thank you all for your hard work.”
“Thank you!” everyone replied in unison.
The event ended, and everyone went their separate ways. The crowd was so enthusiastic that, as they left the main studio, Lu Yuxiu carefully protected Lin Xi, afraid she might get bumped.
The interview wrapped up smoothly, but the online fans were far from done.
