Chapter 86: Bai Ruoxi’s Close Friend
Qin Feng frowned slightly. Who was this woman?
“My name is Su Mei, Ruoxi’s best friend.” The beauty parted her red lips, a hint of amusement in her voice.
Su Mei walked up to Qin Feng, the corners of her mouth curling into a seductive smile. Her gaze, shimmering with subtle scrutiny, roamed over him.
“I wouldn’t have guessed, little brother, you’ve got quite the quick moves.” She laughed coquettishly, her voice honeyed and sweet.
“What did you do before? Were you in the military?”
Qin Feng’s brow arched. This woman was probing him right from the start?
He smiled indifferently, tossing his cigarette to the ground and crushing it beneath his heel.
Su Mei covered her mouth and giggled, clearly unconvinced by Qin Feng’s evasive answer.
“You’re rather modest, little brother.” As she spoke, she pulled a bank card from her purse and held it out to him.
“This is from Ruoxi. She wanted me to give it to you—funds for your shop renovation. The password is her birthday.”
Qin Feng eyed the card, his brow furrowing even deeper. He understood Bai Ruoxi’s intentions, but he couldn’t accept the money.
He looked at the bank card, then at the alluring woman before him, a playful smile appearing on his lips.
“Miss Su, are you testing my self-control?” He said, reaching out to gently lift Su Mei’s chin, his tone flirtatious.
A flicker of surprise flashed in Su Mei’s eyes before she burst into laughter, her body leaning ever so slightly toward him.
“Little brother, I didn’t mean it that way. But…” She paused, leaning closer, her breath fragrant against his ear, “If you’d like, I wouldn’t mind playing with you for a while.”
A glimmer of amusement danced in Qin Feng’s eyes. This woman was certainly bold.
He was about to reply when the sudden ring of his phone shattered the intimate atmosphere.
Bai Ruoxi was calling.
“Hello, Ruoxi.”
“Qin Feng, are you alright? Did Su Mei find you? She didn’t do anything to you, did she?” Bai Ruoxi’s voice was tinged with worry and urgency.
Qin Feng cast a playful glance at Su Mei, the smile in his eyes not reaching his heart. Was she deliberately putting on a show for Bai Ruoxi? Or did she truly have an interest in him?
“Miss Su, aren’t you afraid Ruoxi might misunderstand if you say such things?” Qin Feng’s tone was teasing, his fingers gently caressing Su Mei’s smooth chin.
Su Mei giggled, pressing herself even closer, practically hanging onto him.
“Misunderstand? There’s nothing but innocence between us. If you don’t believe me, you can ask her.” As she spoke, she deliberately pressed her shapely chest against his arm.
Of course, Bai Ruoxi on the other end of the call couldn’t see Su Mei’s actions. She spoke anxiously.
“Qin Feng, don’t listen to her nonsense. She just likes to joke around, you…”
“It’s alright, Ruoxi, don’t worry. I’m fine.” Qin Feng interrupted, his tone carrying a barely perceptible chill.
“Miss Su was just teasing me, isn’t that right?” The final question was directed at Su Mei, a hint of warning in his voice.
A flicker of displeasure crossed Su Mei’s eyes, but she quickly masked it, laughing sweetly. “Of course, little brother. I’m very gentle, how could I ever do anything to you?”
With that, she straightened up, stepped back, and put some distance between herself and Qin Feng.
“Well then, I’ll be off. Little brother, I’ll come find you again when I have time.” Su Mei threw him a flirtatious glance, turned, and sashayed toward her car, her hips swaying with every step.
The red Ferrari roared to life and sped away.
Qin Feng watched her leave, a cold smile curling on his lips. This woman was far from simple.
He picked up the phone, Bai Ruoxi’s voice coming through again, laced with lingering fear and concern. “Qin Feng, are you really alright? Su Mei didn’t do anything to you, did she?”
“What could happen? Is she going to eat me?” Qin Feng replied with a laugh, his tone light.
“That’s good, that’s good…” Bai Ruoxi clearly breathed a sigh of relief. “By the way, Su Mei should have given you the renovation money for your shop. That’s from me—please don’t refuse.”
“I know. I appreciate your thoughtfulness.” Qin Feng paused. “But I can’t accept the money right now. If I need it later, I’ll ask you.”
“Why not?” Bai Ruoxi asked, confused.
“No reason. I just can’t take your money for nothing.”
Qin Feng’s tone was resolute. “Alright, it’s late. Get some rest. I have things to do. I’ll hang up now.”
With that, he ended the call.
He stared at the bank card in his hand, lost in thought. He understood Bai Ruoxi’s intentions, but he couldn’t accept the money. Everyone likes money, but there’s no need for a woman to support him.
…
Early the next morning, Qin Feng informed Yang Tianchen about the incident last night when Wang Teng sent people to smash up the shop.
After all, Yang Tianchen was the eldest son of the Yang family, and he had a stake in this place. If something happened, he was obliged to help.
That was precisely why Qin Feng had brought Yang Tianchen into the business. After all, this was Beijing—without backing, it was easy to be squeezed out, just as happened last night.
Once Yang Tianchen responded, Qin Feng said nothing further. Some things only needed to be said once. Say too much and it becomes irritating; if someone wants to help, you don’t need to persuade them. If they don’t want to, no amount of words will change their mind.
When Zhang Hu, who handled deliveries, returned and learned what had happened, he was so furious he trembled.
“That bastard, he’s gone too far!”
Zhang Hu slammed his palm on the table, making the solid wood groan and the teacups jump.
Qin Feng remained calm, sipping his tea leisurely before speaking. “Relax. Think of it as paying for a lesson. In Beijing, without some background, it’s really tough to get by.”
“Lesson, my foot!” Zhang Hu jumped to his feet in anger. “Brother Feng! Give me the word, and I’ll make sure they pay for this!”
“What, you want to go smash their place in return?” Qin Feng teased, knowing Zhang Hu’s impulsive nature all too well.
“I…” Zhang Hu was momentarily speechless. He knew it wasn’t wise, but he simply couldn’t swallow the insult.
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle it.” Qin Feng patted Zhang Hu’s shoulder, his gaze flashing coldly. “What is owed to me will be repaid, sooner or later.”
Seeing Qin Feng’s confident expression, Zhang Hu gradually calmed down. He knew Qin Feng wasn’t one to take losses lying down. If he said he’d handle it, he surely had a plan.
