Chapter 75: Jiang Yuechan's Apology
Qin Feng bid farewell to the old man. He had barely left the venue when his phone suddenly rang.
“Hello, who is this?” Qin Feng answered, his tone tinged with impatience.
“Mr. Qin, it’s me, Jiang Yuechan.”
A cool, clear voice came from the other end of the line—it was none other than Jiang Yuechan, who had just departed moments earlier.
Qin Feng raised an eyebrow, surprised that this woman had sought him out again so quickly. “What is it?”
“Let’s find a place to talk. It’s about what happened last night.” Jiang Yuechan’s voice was calmer now than it had been earlier.
Qin Feng considered for a moment; since she was seeking reconciliation, there was no harm in meeting her. “Fine, you pick the place.”
Putting away his phone, Qin Feng turned and headed toward the Misty Cloud Teahouse.
This teahouse was quite renowned in Jiangnan, known for its tranquil ambiance—a perfect setting for a private conversation.
Half an hour later, Qin Feng entered the teahouse and immediately spotted Jiang Yuechan seated by the window.
She had changed into a simple white dress, her long hair gently pinned up, exuding an air of grace and gentle beauty.
Qin Feng walked straight to her table and sat across from her. A waiter promptly appeared to take their order.
“Two cups of Longjing tea,” Qin Feng said directly, then fixed his gaze on Jiang Yuechan. “So, what do you want?”
Jiang Yuechan offered a faint smile, tinged with helplessness.
“Mr. Qin, about last night, it truly was my lapse. On behalf of the Jiang family, I apologize.”
Qin Feng arched an eyebrow, not expecting such directness. “Apology accepted. And then?”
“After that, I hope we can let bygones be bygones. The Jiang family does wield some influence in Jiangnan, but we understand there are always higher mountains. Your strength, Mr. Qin, truly commands our respect.” Her tone was sincere.
Qin Feng chuckled softly. “I don’t warrant your admiration. I just hope there are no more unpleasant incidents like last night.”
“Of course, of course,” Jiang Yuechan nodded quickly. “Also, about the wager last night, may I ask, how did you manage such precise predictions?”
Qin Feng smiled faintly, lifting his teacup for a sip. “It’s just a bit of gambling skill. Nothing remarkable.”
A flicker of curiosity passed through Jiang Yuechan’s eyes, but she didn’t press the matter.
She knew well that some secrets were not to be pried into casually. In truth, she had originally intended to have someone eliminate Qin Feng. But after their return, Jiang Heniang had sought out her father.
Upon hearing the news, Old Tiger Jiang was furious, but once he learned of Qin Feng’s connection to Liu Yunsheng, his anger subsided at once.
To be fair, it wasn’t so much that Old Tiger Jiang had backed down, but rather that Jiang Yuechan had intervened.
“Mr. Qin, I know what happened last night left you displeased, but please believe me—it was never the Jiang family’s intention,” Jiang Yuechan said earnestly, a complex emotion flickering in her eyes.
“Our family has been rooted in Jiangnan for many years. We have some foundation, but we understand well how deep these waters run, and we do not make enemies lightly.”
Qin Feng nodded slightly. He didn’t fully trust her words, but there was no need to tear off the mask at this moment. Besides, he hadn’t lost anything; at worst, he could always fight if it came to that.
He gave a low chuckle, setting his cup on the table with a crisp sound.
Jiang Yuechan was momentarily stunned; she hadn’t expected Qin Feng to be so direct. She had prepared a whole arsenal of carefully worded probes, hoping to gauge his intentions.
Now it seemed such tactics were wasted on him.
Biting her lip, she decided to be forthright as well. “Fine. You’re a man who values candor, Mr. Qin, so I won’t beat around the bush. I’m here today to invite you to join the Jiang family, to become our—”
“Stop right there,” Qin Feng interrupted her without hesitation, a hint of mockery in his eyes.
Jiang Yuechan’s face stiffened; she knew he was right.
Last night’s wager had seen Qin Feng win over a hundred million with ease—proof enough of his formidable resources. Moreover, from what she’d read in his file, the man was a master at stone gambling; earning money was hardly a challenge for him.
“Mr. Qin, you misunderstand,” Jiang Yuechan hurried to explain. “It isn’t our intention to buy your loyalty with money. The Jiang family has cultivated extensive connections and resources in Jiangnan over the years. If you’re willing to join us, we’ll spare no effort in supporting you—”
“Support me?” Qin Feng seemed to find her words amusing and couldn’t help but laugh aloud. “What would I need from your Jiang family? Do you dare take on the Wen family for me?”
At these words, Jiang Yuechan was dumbfounded. In truth, she had originally planned to use Qin Feng’s gambling skills to open a branch in Jianghai. But she had overlooked one crucial fact—Qin Feng’s adversaries included the Wen family in the capital.
Even if the Wen family was only a third-rate clan in the capital, they were still leagues above the likes of them; even her father, Old Tiger Jiang, could not compare.
“Mr. Qin, you must be joking.” Jiang Yuechan quickly regained her composure, though her tone grew more cautious. “The Wen family’s affairs are not something the Jiang family would ever meddle in. I only thought that, with your abilities, our backing could help you make a name for yourself in Jiangnan.”
“Make a name for myself?” Qin Feng snorted dismissively. “You think I need your Jiang family’s help for that? Jiangnan means nothing to me.”
His arrogance unsettled Jiang Yuechan.
“Mr. Qin, I know you’re formidable, but the Wen family is still a capital clan with deep foundations—not to be underestimated!” she tried to caution him, hoping he would recognize the gravity of the situation.
But Qin Feng seemed to find this laughable. He threw back his head and laughed, “The so-called capital clans? In my eyes, they’re nothing but a flock of chickens and dogs!”
“You—!” Jiang Yuechan’s face went pale with anger. She hadn’t expected Qin Feng to be so wildly arrogant, dismissing the Wen family entirely.
Qin Feng’s laughter faded. His gaze grew sharp and piercing as he fixed it on her. “If I dare say it, I have my reasons. As for the Wen family, I’ll make them pay sooner or later.”
A ruthless glint flashed in his eyes, making Jiang Yuechan’s heart tremble.
Only now did she realize she had underestimated Qin Feng.
This man was far more complex—and dangerous—than she had ever imagined.
“Mr. Qin, I came here today with sincerity…” Jiang Yuechan drew a deep breath, forcing down her irritation. “I admit, I underestimated you before. But I hope you understand—having one more friend is always better than making another enemy.”
“Friend?” Qin Feng repeated the word with a hint of irony. “Miss Jiang, do you really think you and I could ever be friends?”
