Chapter Fifty-Three: Termination of Cooperation
“If you don’t want to die, keep your pants on!”
The speaker was Wenwu. Yesterday, upon his arrival, he had kidnapped Lin Wanting and forced her to sign an agreement.
The moment the group saw Wenwu, their expressions changed.
“Boss, we—we didn’t, it was just a bit of harmless fun…”
But what greeted them was a slap from Wenwu.
Smack!
“How many times have I told you? When you’re out with me, control yourselves. Once the job’s done, I don’t care what you do, but until then, keep your hands to yourselves. Otherwise, you won’t even know how you’ll die!” Wenwu glared and barked.
“Yes, yes, boss, we know we were wrong. We won’t dare do it again!”
They all lowered their heads, terrified, and hurried to confess their fault.
They understood Wenwu’s background well. Raised in martial arts since childhood, his temperament remained ruthless and violent.
Especially since they had once followed Wenwu in robberies, they knew better than anyone the methods he employed.
Wenwu snorted coldly and turned to Lin Wanting, his eyes twisted with malice. “You worthless thing, get out of my sight!”
“I’ll call the police! I’ll report all of you!” Lin Wanting shrieked.
“Report us? You must be tired of living. Do you believe I won’t sell you off to a remote island in the South Seas right now?”
Wenwu spat insults, then slapped Lin Wanting across the face.
Lin Wanting dared not speak further. She could sense this man was different from the previous kidnappers—he meant business, and her life was truly in danger.
Meanwhile, Qin Feng was racing his car toward Jianghai Beach, his heart heavy with dread.
The news of Lin Wanting’s abduction had hit him like a bolt from the blue, igniting a fierce rage within him.
He gripped the steering wheel tightly, pushing the car to its limits, yet still feeling it wasn’t fast enough.
His mind replayed the image of Lin Wanting tied to a chair, her eyes filled with terror and helplessness, cutting him to the core.
“No matter who you are, if you dare lay a hand on my woman, I’ll make you pay dearly!” Qin Feng vowed silently.
Finally, he reached Jianghai Beach, parked in a secluded spot, and quickly slipped out, blending into the bustling crowd.
Less than an hour remained until the appointed time. Qin Feng had to find Lin Wanting as soon as possible.
Just then, his phone vibrated again. A message appeared: “At eight sharp, meet under the lighthouse.”
Qin Feng’s gaze sharpened, immediately locking onto the lighthouse not far away.
The place was remote—a perfect location for secret deals or abductions.
Without hesitation, he strode swiftly toward the lighthouse.
As he drew closer, the tension in the air grew palpable.
Several suspicious figures lingered near the lighthouse, clearly keeping watch.
Qin Feng remained alert, but his face betrayed nothing, as he calmly continued forward.
When he reached the lighthouse, a deep voice suddenly emerged from the shadows. “Qin Feng, you’re here.”
Qin Feng halted, scanning his surroundings but seeing no one.
He replied in a low voice, “Let Lin Wanting go. Whatever you want, come for me.”
“Heh, Mr. Qin, you truly are a man of loyalty.”
From the darkness, Wenwu emerged, a cold smile on his lips and a hint of amusement in his eyes.
“State your terms.”
Qin Feng stared at Wenwu coldly, his tone utterly unyielding.
Wenwu clapped lightly, laughing, “Mr. Qin, you’re straightforward. My terms are simple: you die, she lives. Or, if she dies, you die too!”
Before the words had faded, Wenwu produced a dagger, its blade gleaming with a chilling light.
He pressed the knife against Lin Wanting’s throat, his voice eerie. “You have two choices: die, or take her with you to die together.”
Lin Wanting trembled, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face.
She shook her head desperately, choking out, “Qin Feng, don’t worry about me, run!”
Wenwu sneered, “Run? Heh, Mr. Qin, I advise you not to try anything. Before you set foot on this bridge, I’ve already arranged for a sniper. The moment you step onto it, a bullet will send you straight to hell.”
As Wenwu finished speaking, Qin Feng suddenly looked up at the lighthouse.
The lighthouse stood about ten meters tall, commanding a sweeping view from above.
If Wenwu’s claim was true, a sniper nearby could indeed threaten Qin Feng’s life.
Though he could dodge bullets, he could not evade those of a sniper.
Qin Feng narrowed his eyes, scanning his surroundings, then sneered. “Are you sure you want to negotiate with me like this?”
“Hm? What, have you changed your mind?” Wenwu raised an eyebrow.
Qin Feng smiled faintly. “I won’t risk Wanting’s life. But I want to see her leave safely with my own eyes. You want more than just my life, don’t you? If you let her go, I’ll give you the entire Jade Pavilion.”
Wenwu was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing. “Qin Feng, I never thought you’d be so sentimental. No wonder this little woman is willing to put her life on the line for you!”
Hearing Wenwu’s taunt, fury surged in Qin Feng’s chest, but he forced himself to remain calm.
“I don’t need your praise. I’ll ask only once: do you accept, or not?”
Qin Feng’s voice was icy.
A mocking smile flickered across Wenwu’s face. “Qin Feng, you think I don’t know what you’re up to? Once you’re dead, all your wealth will be mine!”
Qin Feng’s eyes narrowed. He sensed the thick scent of blood emanating from Wenwu—a stench only those who had killed many could possess.
Realizing this, Qin Feng’s gaze grew sharper, a chill rising in his heart.
“If you kill me now, the Jade Pavilion will go to Baiyun Group by law, and you’ll get nothing. But keeping her alive can let you threaten her to break off cooperation with Baiyun Group.”
“If I’m not mistaken, your real target is me, isn’t it?”
Qin Feng’s words made Wenwu’s pupils contract, but he remained composed, smiling, “You’re right. Let her go! Let the woman leave!”
At Wenwu’s order, several men immediately released Lin Wanting, pushing her toward Qin Feng.
Stumbling, Lin Wanting fell into Qin Feng’s arms. The two embraced tightly, as if wanting to merge into one another, confirming each other’s existence and safety.
“Go, quickly!” Qin Feng whispered to Lin Wanting, his gaze unwavering and resolute.
