You can have a chance to repay me in the future.
Qin Feng shielded Avril behind him, leading the charge.
“Ah!”
Being held tightly in Qin Feng’s arms, Avril’s heart fluttered wildly. This was the first time in over twenty years she had been so close to a man. Moreover, this man had just saved her; she felt weak all over, unable to summon any strength.
“This place is too narrow for a fight. Let’s head into the forest,” Qin Feng said, glancing around. The area was too open, better suited for his style of combat. He then led Avril into the woods.
Soon, members of the Black Serpent Organization pursued them, entering the forest after Qin Feng.
“That bastard dared to deceive us. He won’t get far. Spread out and search everywhere—dig through the earth if you have to, but bring them back!” The bald leader sneered and issued the order.
The Black Serpent operatives, well-trained, quickly dispersed, scouring the forest for any sign of Qin Feng.
“Here.” Qin Feng suddenly stopped, shielding Avril behind him.
Startled, Avril realized he was protecting her, keeping her safe from danger.
With a swift step, Qin Feng darted behind another tree.
Whizz—
A bullet zipped past his ear.
Qin Feng’s heart pounded with lingering fear. If he had been even half a second slower, he would have been exposed to the gunfire.
The Black Serpent’s firepower was ferocious—they were even armed with submachine guns.
If Qin Feng were alone, escaping would be easy, but now with Avril by his side, it was a different matter.
“Stay here. Don’t come out! I’ll come back for you!” Qin Feng ordered, then suddenly charged from the bushes at the nearest Black Serpent member.
In this situation, survival meant he had to fight.
Bang!
The Black Serpent closest to Avril collapsed.
Qin Feng had silently circled behind him, swiftly breaking his neck.
“Damn it!”
The remaining Black Serpent members looked at the Eastern man with terror.
---
But they were well-trained and quickly regrouped, unleashing a hail of bullets at Qin Feng.
He dodged left and right, but four attackers were too many for two fists, and he inevitably bore some injuries.
A bullet grazed his left arm, staining his sleeve with blood.
Avril hid in the shadows, her heart pounding as if it might burst.
Just then, distant sirens pierced the forest’s silence, growing louder and closer.
“The cops are here! Retreat!”
Hearing the sirens, the Black Serpent members knew they couldn’t afford to linger and swiftly vanished deeper into the woods.
Watching their hasty retreat, Qin Feng smirked coldly.
Enduring the pain, he came to Avril’s side and whispered, “It’s over. We’re safe now.”
Seeing Qin Feng wounded, Avril’s heart ached with worry and fear.
Trembling, she reached out to touch his injury but hesitated, choking back tears.
“You’re hurt. I… I’ll call an ambulance,” she stammered.
Qin Feng shook his head. To him, this woman was just someone he happened to save along the way.
At that moment, a cheerful voice came from nearby, “Hey, Feng, how do you always manage to run into these exciting situations?”
Qin Feng looked up to see Yang Tianchen dressed casually, accompanied by a few others, walking into the forest.
“What are you doing here?” Qin Feng asked, surprised.
“I was worried about you,” Yang Tianchen smiled, patting his shoulder. “You sneaked off to a place like this without a word. Do you know how hard it was for me to find you?”
After Qin Feng left the hotel, Yang Tianchen had returned to look for him, only to discover he was gone. Noticing a document on the table marked with the Black Serpent Organization’s name and an address—the very place Qin Feng was now—he sensed trouble.
Yang Tianchen quickly contacted the Falcon team and alerted the police, arriving just in time to rescue Qin Feng.
“Thanks to you, I might not have gotten out alive,” Qin Feng said gratefully.
“Come on, no need for formalities between brothers,” Yang Tianchen waved it off, then glanced at Avril with a flash of admiration. Teasingly, he said, “Feng, you’re not going to introduce us?”
Before Qin Feng could speak, Avril blushed deeply and extended her hand with grace, “Hello, I’m Avril.”
“Lovely name, and you live up to it—truly beautiful,” Yang Tianchen said, shaking her hand unabashedly. “I’m Yang Tianchen, Feng’s good friend.”
“Nice to meet you,” Avril replied politely.
---
“Alright, this isn’t the place to chat. Let’s get out of here first,” Qin Feng interrupted.
Yang Tianchen nodded in agreement and turned to his companions. “You guys, clean this place up. Don’t leave any traces.”
“Yes, sir!” They moved quickly.
Supporting Qin Feng, Avril followed Yang Tianchen out of the woods.
The sirens grew louder as police cars screeched to a halt at the forest’s edge.
Yang Tianchen’s men efficiently cleared the scene, removing anything suspicious before blending back into the crowd as if nothing had happened.
“Feng, your luck with women is unbelievable. Wherever you go, you encounter beauties,” Yang Tianchen raised an eyebrow, winking slyly.
“How about it? Would this exotic beauty be interested in dinner and a chat about life?”
Avril’s cheeks burned with embarrassment at his bold words, and she lowered her gaze shyly.
Qin Feng rolled his eyes at Yang Tianchen’s relentless teasing.
“Enough. Let’s stop fooling around and get your wounds treated.”
He subtly positioned Avril behind him protectively.
Yang Tianchen pouted and muttered, “So unromantic.”
The group arrived at a nearby hospital. After examining Qin Feng’s injuries, the doctor smiled, “Young man, you’re tough. These wounds look worse than they are—just superficial scratches. A simple treatment will do.”
Relieved by the doctor’s words, Avril finally let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding.
Looking at the bandage on Qin Feng’s arm, she blamed herself, “It’s all my fault. If I hadn’t needed saving, you wouldn’t be hurt.”
Qin Feng gently shook his head.
“It’s not your fault. I wasn’t careful.”
“But…”
Avril tried to say more, but Qin Feng interrupted.
“Enough worrying. I’m fine. You can repay me some other time.”
He spoke lightly, trying to ease the tension.
Avril gave him a grateful glance and nodded in agreement.
