Chapter 165: The Young Lady of the Ross Family
The woman froze for a moment, appearing surprised that Qin Feng could speak her language.
She blinked her sea-blue eyes, nodded gently, and said in slightly accented Chinese, "A little."
Seeing her nod, Qin Feng breathed a silent sigh of relief. Fortunately, there was no communication barrier.
He pointed to the ropes binding her and asked, "Do you need me to untie you?"
As if grasping at a straw, the woman nodded frantically, hope shining in her eyes.
Without hesitation, Qin Feng undid the ropes in a few swift motions.
Now free, the woman stretched her somewhat stiff limbs.
Then, looking up at Qin Feng, gratitude and a trace of curiosity flickered in her eyes. "Thank you for saving me. Who are you?"
"My name is Qin Feng," he replied casually, then asked, "What's your name? And how did you end up getting captured here?"
"My name is Avril."
The woman, now identified as Avril, took a deep breath as if trying to calm her emotions.
"I came here for a vacation, but on the way, I ran into these scoundrels. They kidnapped me and brought me to this place..."
At this point, a flash of lingering fear crossed Avril's eyes.
"A vacation?"
Qin Feng frowned slightly, looking Avril up and down. Although her clothes appeared ordinary, he had previously accompanied Lin Wanting to high-end boutiques, and a single glance told him her attire was far from cheap.
She didn't look like someone on vacation at all. Instead, it seemed more like...
A bold guess suddenly popped into Qin Feng's mind, and he stared directly into Avril's eyes.
"Tell me the truth. Who on earth are you, and why were you kidnapped? Otherwise, I'll just leave you right here!"
Startled by this sudden interrogation, Avril's expression shifted slightly. Her eyes darted away, as if trying to avoid his gaze.
Seeing her reaction, Qin Feng became even more certain of his suspicion. It seemed this woman was truly extraordinary!
"Who exactly are you?" Qin Feng pressed further, a hint of oppression in his tone.
"I..." Avril bit her lip, appearing to wrestle with a difficult decision.
"If you don't tell me the truth, I can't guarantee your safety."
Qin Feng's sharp gaze seemed capable of piercing through any disguise. Under his interrogation, Avril's delicate body trembled slightly, with no way to escape.
She took a deep breath, made up her mind, and a flash of determination crossed her eyes.
"Alright, I'll tell you the truth."
There was a bitter note in Avril's voice.
"I am an heir of the Rothschild family."
"The Rothschild family?"
Qin Feng frowned slightly. The name sounded familiar, but he couldn't place it immediately.
"It's normal that you haven't heard of it. The Rothschild family operates primarily in energy and arms in Europe..."
At this, Avril's tone carried a hint of self-mockery.
"And of course, those businesses that cannot see the light of day."
"So? You were kidnapped on purpose?"
Qin Feng understood instantly.
Avril smiled bitterly and nodded. "My father has three children in total. I am the youngest, and also the least favored. To seize the right of inheritance, my two older brothers will stop at nothing. When I sneaked out this time, they already sent people to hunt me down."
"Then why were you brought here? How did the people hunting you down manage to find this place?" Qin Feng asked, puzzled.
Avril bit her lip, fear flashing in her eyes.
"I don't know either. I only remember being drugged on the street, and when I woke up, I was locked in here."
Looking at the foreign beauty with blond hair and blue eyes before him, Qin Feng felt a mixture of emotions.
He had thought this would be a simple tale of a hero saving a damsel in distress, but he never expected to be dragged into a family feud among the elite.
"What are your plans now?" Qin Feng asked.
"I..."
Avril's eyes were filled with confusion; she clearly had no idea what to do.
Her family's influence spanned the globe. Where could a fragile woman like her possibly escape?
"Don't worry. As long as I'm here, I won't let them hurt you."
Qin Feng's tone was firm, carrying an unquestionable confidence.
Avril looked up at him. Though this man did not look particularly imposing, he gave her an inexplicable sense of security.
Ripples stirred in her heart. Clinging to him like a drowning person to a final straw, the corners of her eyes grew slightly red.
"Thank you," Avril choked out, tears swirling in her eyes.
"Don't thank me just yet."
Qin Feng interrupted her.
"Are you the only one here? Have you seen a middle-aged man from Greater Xia?"
"Wait."
Avril frowned deeply, struggling to recall.
"When they captured me, I vaguely heard them talking about how Easterners are wealthy."
"Easterners? Wealthy?"
Qin Feng repeated the two phrases, and the figure of Long Xiaotian suddenly surfaced in his mind.
As the chairman of Longteng Group, Long Xiaotian possessed immense wealth, which matched those two descriptions precisely.
Could it be that the people who kidnapped Avril were the same gang that abducted Long Xiaotian?
"Damn it, this is getting more complicated by the minute," Qin Feng muttered under his breath, making a decisive choice. "We can't stay here any longer. We need to leave immediately!"
Having completely lost her judgment, Avril could only stick close to Qin Feng, like a frightened little deer helplessly relying on the man beside her.
Qin Feng led Avril out through a side door of the warehouse. Outside stretched a desolate wasteland, where the howling night wind chilled one to the bone.
"Where are we going now?" Avril shivered, her long golden hair disheveled by the wind.
"Let's just get away from here first." Qin Feng pulled her along, moving swiftly through the darkness.
However, they had not run far before the roar of car engines approached from a distance.
"Not good, they're追过来的!"
Qin Feng's expression darkened as he pulled Avril behind a stack of abandoned shipping containers.
Several black SUVs roared to a halt. The doors flew open, and a dozen burly men dressed in black leaped out. Looking fierce and menacing, they brandished gleaming machetes as they searched the surrounding area.
"Boss, they seem to have run this way!"
A sharp-faced fellow pointed at the container where Qin Feng and Avril were hiding and shouted loudly.
"Search the place! Don't let a single one escape!"
The burly, bald leader issued a vicious order.
Peering through the gap between the containers, Qin Feng saw that these men meant business and felt a bad premonition.
These people clearly were not kind souls; if caught by them, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"What do we do?"
Avril, having seen the men as well, turned pale with fright. She gripped Qin Feng's arm tightly, her body trembling slightly.
"Don't be afraid. I'm here."
Qin Feng patted her hand to reassure her, while scanning the surrounding environment for an escape route.
Suddenly, his eyes lit up as he spotted a dense patch of woods not far away.
"Follow me!"
Qin Feng gave a low command, grabbed Avril, and dashed toward the woods.
"Over there! Don't let them get away!"
Members of the Black Snake organization patrolling the perimeter spotted their tracks and immediately gave chase.
