Chapter 150: The Path of the Dragon Vein
Qin Feng’s brow furrowed tightly. A-Biao’s words were like a stone cast into a tranquil lake, instantly stirring up a thousand ripples.
Snakes! And a whole lot of them!
This was no laughing matter, especially deep in these mountains and old forests. Who knew what kind of venomous snakes they might be?
Long Xiaotian grabbed A-Biao by the collar and barked, "What the hell are you talking about? Speak clearly! What exactly is going on?"
Startled by Long Xiaotian’s outburst, A-Biao trembled as he stammered, "Boss... Boss Long, we hadn't gone far inside before we saw them—the ground, the trees, they were covered in snakes! Big ones, small ones, all sorts of colors. It was terrifying!"
"Damn it, you useless waste!" Long Xiaotian shoved A-Biao away, his rage boiling over. He had invested a fortune in this venture, not to mention hiring Professor Zhao and bringing so many men along. If he were to return empty-handed, he wouldn't be able to stomach the loss.
"Brother Long, what should we do now?" Zhang Hu leaned over to Qin Feng and asked in a low voice.
Qin Feng didn't respond immediately. He narrowed his eyes slightly, and a faint blue light flickered across them. His X-ray vision—this was his greatest secret and his ultimate trump card.
His gaze seemed to pierce through the layers of dense forest, revealing the scene deep within the valley.
"This feng shui..." Qin Feng’s heart skipped a beat. The layout of the valley had clearly been deliberately orchestrated!
"Mr. Long, don't go in. It’s a trap!" Qin Feng’s voice was calm, yet it rang out clearly for everyone to hear.
"A trap? What kind of trap?" Long Xiaotian was taken aback, clearly not having processed the warning yet.
"The feng shui of this valley is wrong. It looks like it was intentionally arranged to ward off tomb raiders," Qin Feng explained. "Think about it: are ancient tombs really that easy to find? And even if you find one, how can you be sure someone else hasn't gotten there first?"
Long Xiaotian’s expression shifted. While he didn't understand feng shui, he grasped the implication of Qin Feng’s words.
"Are you saying this ancient tomb is a fake?"
"I don't know if it's fake, but it's certainly not simple here," Qin Feng said, his expression grave. "Think about it: what kind of mechanisms did the ancients set up to prevent tomb robbing?"
Without waiting for Long Xiaotian to answer, Qin Feng continued, "The most common methods involved exploiting the terrain to set traps, like quicksand or swamps. One wrong step, and you’re doomed."
"Some are even more ruthless, breeding venomous insects, snakes, and even wild beasts inside the tomb, all to ensure that any tomb raider who enters never leaves alive!"
Qin Feng’s words sent a chill through everyone present. Although they were all desperate men, they valued their lives and none wanted to perish in these deep, isolated mountains.
Long Xiaotian’s face remained uncertain. As much as he craved the treasures inside, he had no desire to lose his life for them.
"So, what do you suggest we do now?" Long Xiaotian took a deep breath, suppressing his anger as he asked.
"Let’s find a safe spot to rest first, then we can deliberate on a plan," Qin Feng said. He scanned the surroundings and pointed to a clearing not far away. "Over there. The terrain is higher and the visibility is better; it should be safer."
Long Xiaotian nodded and signaled for the group to head toward the spot Qin Feng indicated.
Upon reaching the clearing, everyone unslung their backpacks, taking out food and water to replenish their strength. Only Qin Feng walked to the edge of the clearing alone, gazing into the distance.
He needed to survey the grand landscape. After all, the art of feng shui was distinct from appraising treasures. However, his X-ray vision allowed him to see things beyond the reach of ordinary people, such as where the earth’s dragon veins converged.
Standing at the edge of the clearing, Qin Feng squinted, the setting sun casting a golden glow upon his face. He looked as if he were deep in thought or meditating. Only the occasional flash of faint blue light betrayed that he was observing something hidden.
Long Xiaotian sat on a nearby rock, fidgeting impatiently. He glanced at Qin Feng from time to time but dared not approach to disturb him.
*Is this kid playing us?* Long Xiaotian wondered. He knew little of feng shui, but he understood that such things couldn't be resolved in an instant. Furthermore, was someone so young really capable of such feats?
Qin Feng was unaware of Long Xiaotian’s inner turmoil; his focus was entirely on the mountain landscape before him. His X-ray vision took in everything: the orientation of the mountain ranges, the flow of the earth’s energy, and even the rock strata deep underground.
*Just as I thought!* Qin Feng mused to himself. The dragon vein of Panlong Mountain was truly extraordinary, winding and twisting like a giant dragon coiled among the peaks.
The valley happened to be located exactly where the dragon vein converged, which explained the rich, concentrated spiritual energy. However, Qin Feng also discovered that the dragon vein had been tampered with. Obstructions had been artificially placed near the valley, causing the spiritual energy to pool and forming a natural feng shui formation.
And this formation was highly likely to be the entrance to the ancient tomb!
Qin Feng withdrew his gaze, his plan now set. He walked over to Long Xiaotian and said coolly, "Boss Long, I’ve found the way into the valley."
Hearing this, Long Xiaotian’s spirits soared. He jumped to his feet, his eyes gleaming. "Really? Tell me, how do we get in?"
Qin Feng was unhurried. He replied in a measured tone, "Boss Long, this feng shui formation isn't easy to break. I need some time to prepare, and..." He paused deliberately, observing Long Xiaotian’s reaction.
"And what? If you have conditions, just say them!" Long Xiaotian was clearly agitated, his mind entirely consumed by the treasures within the tomb.
A faint, subtle smile tugged at the corner of Qin Feng’s mouth. "My condition is simple. Once we enter the tomb, I get first pick of one treasure."
"What?!" Before Long Xiaotian could speak, A-Biao jumped up from behind him. "Why? Don't push your luck, kid!"
Qin Feng cast a cold, sharp glance at A-Biao, who instinctively shrank back, daring not to utter another word.
Long Xiaotian’s brow was furrowed. He was greedy, but he knew Qin Feng was their only hope. After weighing his options, he gritted his teeth and said, "Fine! I agree! But if you can't find the tomb, or if you try to pull any tricks, don't blame me for what happens!"
"Deal," Qin Feng agreed readily. He knew that Long Xiaotian’s greed had blinded him; as long as he played his cards right, he could make the man dance to his tune.
With that, Qin Feng began the process of breaking the feng shui formation. He paced around the clearing, observing the environment meticulously, occasionally bending down to draw patterns in the dirt with a twig.
Though Long Xiaotian and his men didn't understand what he was doing, they knew he was breaking the formation. They held their breath, not daring to make a sound, fearing they might disrupt him.
