Chapter 146: My Fate Is Mine to Command, Not Heaven’s
At first, the old man had intended to refuse, but after hearing what Qin Feng said next, he could not help hesitating.
He himself was an old man with little to lose, but Xiaoxiao was still so young.
“Young man, are you serious?”
The old man fixed his cloudy eyes on Qin Feng, as though trying to discern any hint of deception on his face.
“Of course I am. I always keep my word.” Qin Feng smiled. He knew what the old man was worried about. “Please rest assured. My shop is short-handed. If you are willing to come, I will be delighted.”
“Grandpa, just say yes!” Li Xiaoxiao pleaded from the side, tugging at his arm.
Seeing the anticipation in his granddaughter’s eyes, the last trace of hesitation in the old man’s heart vanished.
“Good! Good! I agree!”
The old man excitedly clasped Qin Feng’s hand. “Young man, you can count on me. Though these old bones of mine may not be good for much anymore, I can still help you appraise things!”
“Grandpa, you’re not old at all!”
Amused by his granddaughter, the old man burst into hearty laughter. The hospital room filled with a warm, cheerful atmosphere.
Watching the scene before him, Qin Feng could not help feeling moved.
He had originally intended only to lend this grandfather and granddaughter a casual hand, yet he had unexpectedly gained an experienced jade master.
Perhaps everything really was arranged by fate.
After comforting the old man and Li Xiaoxiao, Qin Feng left the hospital room and called Zhang Hu.
“Hello, Tiger. How are things in the capital?” Qin Feng asked with a smile.
“What else could they be? The Wang family has been making quite a fuss these past few days, but with Young Master Yang around, they don’t dare cause trouble at Tianfeng Pavilion!”
Zhang Hu’s hearty voice came through the phone. “By the way, Brother Feng, did you call because you have something for me to do?”
“Yes. Come to Yunnan as soon as you can. I need your help with something.”
“No problem. If you give the order, Brother Feng, I’ll set out immediately!”
Zhang Hu agreed without the slightest hesitation.
“Here’s the situation…” Qin Feng briefly explained what had happened at the hospital. “Come over and take the two of them to Jianghai. Just hand them over to Wanting.”
“Brother Feng, what exactly are you—” Zhang Hu asked, puzzled.
“Don’t ask so many questions. Just do as I say.”
“Understood, Brother Feng. I guarantee I’ll get them there safely!”
Although Zhang Hu was curious, he chose to obey.

After ending the call, Qin Feng returned to the hospital room.
“Sir, my friend will come to take you and Xiaoxiao to Jianghai in the next couple of days. What do you think?” Qin Feng asked.
“Good, good. I’ll do whatever you arrange.” The old man now obeyed Qin Feng in everything, regarding him entirely as his savior.
“Then I’ll go take care of something first and come back to see you later.”
As he spoke, Qin Feng handed the old man a bank card. “There’s some money on this. Keep it for now and buy whatever you need.”
“How can I accept this…” The old man tried to refuse.
“Please don’t stand on ceremony. Consider it a small welcoming gift for Xiaoxiao.”
As he spoke, Qin Feng pressed the bank card into Li Xiaoxiao’s hand, then turned and left the room.
Watching Qin Feng’s departing figure, the old man and Li Xiaoxiao were filled with gratitude.
They knew that Qin Feng had given them new hope and a new life.
…
After leaving the hospital, Qin Feng hailed a taxi and headed straight for the hotel where he was staying.
“My fate is mine to command, not Heaven’s!”
A resolute gleam flashed in Qin Feng’s eyes. He secretly swore that once he returned to Jianghai, he would immediately use the batch of jadeite roughs he had obtained for cultivation and strive to reach the Third Realm as quickly as possible.
After returning to the hotel, Qin Feng called Zhang Hu to ask when he would arrive.
“Brother Feng, I’ve already made the arrangements. I’ll take a flight first thing tomorrow morning and should arrive in the afternoon.”
Zhang Hu sounded somewhat exhausted. Clearly, he had gone to considerable trouble arranging matters for the old man.
“Thanks for your hard work, Tiger.” Qin Feng felt a warmth in his heart. “Call me when you arrive. I’ll come pick you up.”
Back in his hotel room, Qin Feng locked the door and sat cross-legged on the bed.
He took a cloth bag from his backpack. Inside were several pieces of rough stone he had acquired in Pingzhou.
Jade was nurtured by the essence of Heaven and Earth, containing spiritual energy imperceptible to ordinary people.
Qin Feng, however, could absorb that spiritual energy and continuously raise his cultivation realm.
He drew a deep breath, placed his palm against a fist-sized piece of rough stone, closed his eyes, and focused his mind.
A cool current flowed from his palm, traveling through his meridians and spreading throughout his body before finally gathering in his dantian.
Qin Feng immersed himself in the wondrous sensation. It was as though he were floating in a warm ocean, every cell nourished by that energy and becoming more vibrant.
Time passed second by second. The room was so quiet that the only sound was Qin Feng’s steady breathing.
…
The following morning, the first rays of sunlight streamed through the gap in the curtains, bathing the room in gold.
Qin Feng slowly opened his eyes. A sharp glint flashed through them and vanished.

“Hoo…”
He exhaled a long breath of stale air, a trace of satisfaction appearing on his face.
After a night of cultivation, he had already touched the bottleneck of the Third Realm. He believed it would not be long before he could break through to a higher realm.
After washing up, Qin Feng changed into clean clothes and called Zhang Hu.
“Hello, Tiger. Where are you?”
“Brother Feng, I’ve arrived at the airport. What about you?” Zhang Hu’s excited voice came through the phone.
“I’m already at the airport entrance. Come straight over.”
After ending the call, Qin Feng walked to a black Mercedes, opened the door, and got in.
Before long, Zhang Hu came hurrying over with his suitcase.
“Brother Feng, sorry to keep you waiting!”
“Get in.” Qin Feng smiled and nodded.
Along the way, the two of them chatted about everything that had happened recently. Before they knew it, they had arrived at the hospital.
When Qin Feng and Zhang Hu entered the room, the old man and Li Xiaoxiao had already packed their belongings and were waiting anxiously.
“Brother Qin Feng, you’re here!”
The moment she saw Qin Feng, Li Xiaoxiao cried out excitedly and threw herself into his arms like a happy little bird.
Qin Feng affectionately patted her head and said gently, “Xiaoxiao, are you ready? We’re heading to Jianghai now.”
“Mhm!”
Li Xiaoxiao nodded vigorously, anticipation shining in her dark eyes.
After completing the discharge procedures, the four of them went straight to the airport to catch the noon flight back to Jianghai.
While waiting to board, Li Xiaoxiao kept pestering Qin Feng with questions, chattering incessantly. Her innocent, carefree manner made it impossible not to feel fond of her.
“Brother Qin Feng, what is Jianghai like? Are there lots of fun things there?”
“Of course. Jianghai is a major city, much more prosperous than this place.” Qin Feng answered patiently.
“Then can I go to an amusement park?”
“Of course. Once you arrive in Jianghai, I’ll take you to the best amusement park and let you have the time of your life!”
Seeing Li Xiaoxiao’s excitement, the corners of Qin Feng’s lips lifted slightly. An inexplicable warmth welled up in his heart.
Perhaps this was what the feeling of home was like.
