Chapter 140: The Return of Second Master Wang
"Money?"
Qin Feng sneered, as if he had heard a joke. "Do you really think I would still care for your filthy money?"
A flash of ruthlessness crossed his eyes. A surge of refined power erupted from the tip of his toe, instantly sealing Wang Teng's dantian.
"Ah!"
Wang Teng let out a shrill, miserable scream. He felt the once-abundant energy within his body drain away as if it had been sucked dry, vanishing in an instant. He collapsed onto the ground like a stray dog, his eyes filled with despair and terror.
"You... you crippled me?!" Wang Teng’s voice trembled, his eyes brimming with venomous resentment.
"That is the price you deserve to pay."
Qin Feng coldly dropped these words and turned to leave. To him, even looking at such scum for an extra second felt nauseating.
Stepping out of the neon-lit club, the clamor was left behind. The cold night air brushed against his face, gradually calming Qin Feng’s restless heart.
"Brother Feng!"
A black sedan pulled up to the curb. Zhang Hu stepped out and walked quickly to Qin Feng’s side.
"How did the investigation go?"
"The Wang family has been very close to a man named Wang Changqing lately. I looked into it; this Wang Changqing seems to be a member of the Wang clan as well, but he only just returned recently. It was also in these past few days that the Bai family lost contact with their own resident expert."
"Wang Changqing..."
Qin Feng mused for a moment, a blurry figure surfacing in his mind. He had met this man once at an auction; even then, he had felt that the man’s gaze was sinister and that he was no good.
"Brother Feng, I suspect this is the man behind the mischief," Zhang Hu said with concern.
"It seems this muddy water is even deeper than I imagined..."
A cold glint flashed in Qin Feng’s eyes. It appeared that a major battle was inevitable.
Meanwhile, in a private villa on the outskirts of Jianghai City, Wang Changqing sat in an antique-style study, leisurely sipping a cup of fragrant tea.
"Second Master, I have sent men to retrieve the items you requested. They should arrive by tomorrow."
A burly man with a fleshy face stood before him, bowing respectfully, his tone laced with fawning sycophancy.
"Very good."
Wang Changqing set down his teacup, a cold, sinister smile playing on his lips. "The Bai family! They think they can do whatever they want just because they have someone at the Fifth Realm."
"Second Master, should we go ahead and..."
Before the man could finish his sentence, he was stopped by a sharp, icy glare from Wang Changqing.
"Remember, do not ask what you shouldn't, and do not say what you shouldn't."
Wang Changqing said coldly, "Just do your own job."
"Yes, yes, I understand." The man, dripping with cold sweat, nodded and bowed as he hurriedly retreated.
Wang Changqing watched the man’s back, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
"Qin Feng, just a little punk from out of town, and yet he dares to act so brazenly in the capital!"
He muttered to himself, his eyes gleaming with greed and ambition.
Just then, his cell phone rang.
"Hello, what is it?"
"What did you say? Crippled?!!"
Wang Changqing smashed the teacup in his hand, oblivious to the scalding tea splashing all over him. In his rage, the veins on his well-maintained face bulged, making him look as terrifying as a malicious ghost.
"Ye... yes, Second Master. Young Master Wang... his dantian was destroyed by someone. He is now... now a cripple..."
A trembling voice came from the other end of the line.
"Useless! A bunch of useless trash!"
Wang Changqing roared, kicking over the rosewood tea table beside him. "If you can't even handle a mere brat, what use are you to me!"
After venting his fury, Wang Changqing gradually calmed down, his eyes gleaming with a vicious, ruthless light.
Who was he? The younger brother of the head of the Wang family, who had gone to Qingcheng Mountain to cultivate since he was a child.
After more than twenty years, what kind of storms had he not seen? How could he tolerate such a provocation from a nobody?
"Investigate! Find out exactly who did this!" Wang Changqing gritted his teeth, his voice sounding as if it had come from the depths of hell.
"I will make him wish he were dead!"
The Wang family was deep-rooted in the capital, possessing significant influence in both the underworld and the mainstream society. At Wang Changqing’s command, the entire Wang family machine began to churn frantically.
In less than half a day, Qin Feng’s background information had been thoroughly unearthed.
"A mere brat from out of town, yet he dares to run wild in the capital. He truly doesn't know how to spell death!"
Wang Changqing looked at the files in his hands, his lips curling into a cruel, cold smirk.
"Since you want to play, I will play with you properly!"
He dialed a mysterious number, his voice low and icy: "Help me spread the word. Tell them that I, Wang Changqing, am offering a bounty of fifty million for Qin Feng’s head!"
"Fifty million? Second Master, this..." The voice on the other end hesitated.
"What? You think it's too little?" Wang Changqing’s tone was ghastly.
"No, no, no, Second Master, you misunderstand. It’s just... it’s just that although this Qin Feng is only a boy from out of town, his skills seem quite extraordinary. We..."
"Trash!" Wang Changqing roared and hung up the phone.
He knew that relying solely on the Wang family’s bodyguards would not be enough to deal with Qin Feng. Consequently, he leveraged his connections in the underworld, offering a high bounty for Qin Feng’s head and inciting various factions to hunt him down.
In an instant, the entire underworld was shaken. A bounty of fifty million was enough to drive countless desperadoes into a frenzy.
Yet, Qin Feng remained completely unaware of this. He was strolling along the riverbank with Bai Ruoxi, enjoying the night scenery.
"Ruoxi, do you get the feeling that things have been a bit unsettled lately?"
Qin Feng frowned slightly, sensing a latent danger.
Bai Ruoxi smiled gently, taking Qin Feng’s hand, and said softly, "With you by my side, I am not afraid of anything."
Looking at this peerlessly beautiful woman, a warmth surged in Qin Feng’s heart, and he squeezed her hand tighter.
"Don't worry, I’m here for everything."
However, just then, a shrill ringtone shattered the momentary peace. Qin Feng answered the phone, his expression instantly turning grave.
"What did you say? Alright, I understand!"
Hanging up, a cold glint flashed in Qin Feng’s eyes. He said to Bai Ruoxi, "It looks like our trouble has arrived..."
Bai Ruoxi held his hand anxiously, the soft touch bringing a sense of stability back to Qin Feng.
"What is it? What happened?"
Qin Feng took a deep breath and held his phone out to Bai Ruoxi. On the screen, a bounty notice was clearly displayed: Fifty million for the head of Qin Feng!
Bai Ruoxi only had to glance at it, and her face turned deathly pale.
This meant that Qin Feng was now standing at the center of the storm, a target for countless cutthroats!
"The Wang family really thinks little of me!" Qin Feng sneered, his tone dripping with chilling malice.
He was a billionaire now, by any account; did they really think they could buy his head for such a meager sum?
