Chapter 139: A Complete Falling Out

Watching Zhang Hu and the others bustling about, Qin Feng fell into deep thought.
“Looks like I’ll have to ask Old Master Bai about this.”
Qin Feng had a feeling that this world was not as simple as he had imagined.
Ever since he had come to the capital from Jianghai, everything he had once known had changed. Things beyond the reach of ordinary people had begun rushing toward him one after another.
Standing at the entrance, Qin Feng watched Zhang Hu and his men at work and let out a sigh.
“Brother Feng, don’t worry. We’ll definitely drag those bastards out into the open!”
Zhang Hu thumped his chest in assurance. As though afraid Qin Feng might not believe him, he added, “You all heard me, right? Search carefully!”
“All right, I’ll leave this to you.”
Qin Feng waved his hand, too lazy to listen to any more of his bluster, and drove straight to the Bai residence.
The Bai family’s old manor was steeped in antique charm, exuding an understated luxury.
The moment Qin Feng stepped into the courtyard, he felt an invisible pressure bearing down on him. He took a deep breath, steadied his mind, and knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
An aged voice came from inside.
Qin Feng pushed open the door and saw Old Master Bai seated in a high-backed armchair, a string of Buddhist prayer beads clasped in his hand, his eyes closed as he rested.
“Old Master Bai.”
Qin Feng inclined his head slightly in greeting.
“So you’ve come, Xiao Feng. Sit down.”
Old Master Bai opened his eyes and gestured for Qin Feng to take a seat before instructing the steward, “Bring some tea.”
“No need, Old Master Bai. I came today because there’s something important I’d like to discuss.”
Getting straight to the point, Qin Feng recounted everything that had happened in the attack on Bai Ruoxi.
When Old Master Bai finished listening, his expression darkened at once. The prayer beads in his hand creaked under the force of his grip.
“How dare they! Those damned bastards—do they really think there’s no one left in the Bai family?!”
After a long while, Old Master Bai finally calmed himself and let out a heavy sigh.
“Xiao Feng, I’m afraid this matter isn’t as simple as it seems.”
He raised his head, a sharp glint flashing through his murky eyes.
“Our Bai family has deep roots in the capital. Over the years, we’ve offended quite a few people, both openly and in secret. There’s no shortage of those who want to see us destroyed.”
“Old Master Bai, do you have anyone in mind?” Qin Feng asked.

“Hmph. Those old fellows are all cunning old foxes. They leave no trace behind. How could they reveal their weaknesses so easily?”
Old Master Bai gave a cold snort. “Still, I can provide you with a few leads.”
After a pause, he continued, “Back then, our Bai family became embroiled in a feud with the Zhao and Wang families over a parcel of land. Later, our family won the bid for it. The two families held a grudge and have been waiting for a chance to retaliate ever since…”
Old Master Bai slowly recounted the old grievances, while Qin Feng listened with a deeply furrowed brow.
“All these years, I’ve secretly kept people watching them, but we never found anything unusual.”
Old Master Bai sighed. “It seems they’ve finally made up their minds to strike at our Bai family.”
“Old Master Bai, rest assured. I’ll get to the bottom of this and give Ruoxi an explanation,” Qin Feng said solemnly.
“Ah, Xiao Feng, I’ll leave this matter to you.”
Old Master Bai patted Qin Feng on the shoulder and said earnestly, “An old man like me could die at any time. Those people may not care about that, but you and Xiao Xi must be careful in everything you do.”
After leaving the Bai family’s old manor, Qin Feng could not stop replaying Old Master Bai’s words in his mind.
“Looks like I’ll have to start with the Wang family.”
A cold glint flashed through Qin Feng’s eyes as he muttered to himself.
He took out his phone and called Zhang Hu.
“Tiger, investigate the Wang family’s recent movements for me. Pay particular attention to everyone who does business with them. Don’t let a single one slip through the net!”
“Brother Feng, you think they did it?” Zhang Hu asked from the other end of the line.
“I’d say there’s an eighty or ninety percent chance.” Qin Feng’s voice was cold. “Investigate them. Even if you have to dig three feet into the ground, bring those people out into the open!”
…
Inside a private club in the capital, the lights were garish and the air reeked of indulgence.
A scantily dressed woman with a fiery figure swayed her hips as she walked over to a slick-haired man. In a coquettish voice, she asked, “Young Master Wang, what do you think of my outfit today?”
“Not bad, not bad. Very alluring.”
Wang Teng wrapped an arm around the woman’s slender waist, greed gleaming in his eyes.
“Young Master Wang, you’re so naughty.”
The woman gave an affected pout and nestled her head against Mr. Wang’s chest like a lazy cat.
Just then, a voice suddenly sounded beside Mr. Wang’s ear.
“Young Master Wang, you certainly seem to be enjoying yourself.”
The unexpected voice startled Wang Teng. He jerked his head up and saw a young man standing before him, apparently having appeared from nowhere, wearing a faintly mocking smile.
“Qin Feng! You’re not…” Wang Teng’s heart lurched, and an ominous premonition surged through him.

A cold smile curled at the corner of Qin Feng’s lips as he advanced step by step, his tone laced with mockery.
“What? In your eyes, Young Master Wang, shouldn’t I be dead by now?”
The moment he saw that expression on Wang Teng’s face, Qin Feng knew that what had happened the previous night was unquestionably connected to him.
“You… what do you want?”
Wang Teng’s voice trembled. He knew that he was unlikely to escape disaster today.
Qin Feng said nothing. He merely walked slowly up to Wang Teng, a cold light flickering in his eyes.
“Men! Get him! Kill him!”
Seeing that there was no way to resolve matters peacefully, Wang Teng decided to fight to the bitter end and roared at the men around him.
At his command, the club’s thugs grabbed whatever weapons they could find and charged toward Qin Feng menacingly.
“You think this pack of useless drunkards can lay a hand on me?”
A contemptuous curve appeared at the corner of Qin Feng’s lips, and a sharp gleam flashed through his eyes.
His figure shifted, instantly becoming a blurred afterimage as he moved freely through the crowd.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A series of dull impacts rang out. The thugs did not even see Qin Feng’s figure clearly before an invisible force sent them flying. They crashed heavily to the ground, screaming like slaughtered pigs.
The only reason he had been defeated last time was that Liu Qing had used knockout incense against him. With his current physique, he could easily take on a hundred men by himself.
In the blink of an eye, all of the dozen or so thugs lay sprawled on the ground, groaning incessantly.
Wang Teng turned pale at the sight. His legs gave way, and he collapsed onto the floor.
“Don’t… don’t come any closer…”
He stared in terror as Qin Feng approached step by step, his voice trembling.
Qin Feng ignored his pleas. He walked up to him and looked down from above, his eyes filled with disgust and contempt.
“Someone as vile as you deserves to live in this world?”
With that, Qin Feng raised his foot and stamped it viciously onto Wang Teng’s face, pinning him firmly to the ground.
“Qin… Qin Feng, I—I know I was wrong. Let me go, and I’ll give you money. A great deal of money!”
Wang Teng’s voice was choked with sobs as he tried to use money to buy himself a chance at survival.
