Volume 1, Chapter 29: Tang Xinyu, the Legitimate Daughter of the Minister
Before even setting eyes on the person, Xiao Qingyu felt a sharp ache in her head at the mere sound of her voice.
"Where is the Princess?"
She swept through the heavy curtains, walking straight toward the bed with rapid strides. Upon reaching the bedside, she reached out, intending to pull back the bed hangings. Through the gaps in the shifting fabric, she caught a glimpse of another figure lying on the mattress.
It was said that her uncle and aunt had also endured many twists and turns, only coming together after a series of fortuitous mishaps.
The white fox let out a few whimpering sounds, making a gesture as if to jump down. Tianxing immediately stopped it. "Are you saying we should go down?" The white fox nodded.
Turning his head, he looked at the boundless rage of Jiaxuan Moyan on the ground, and then at Bin Chenxing, who lay unconscious in his arms, having shielded him from a blade.
"A six-tailed fox spirit?" Grandmaster Taixuan was no stranger to such creatures. As the head of Mount Shu, he was well-versed in the more notorious demons. "Has it been captured?" Since it was a demon, and one that had trespassed upon Mount Shu, there was no reason not to apprehend it.
Casting a cold glance at Ziyu and Hanyang, Di Yi made a gesture toward them, his figure flickering as he turned and departed.
Ignoring Xuelin’s cries, Muyun left with her in tow. Strangely enough, after seeing Xuelin and returning to his room, Muyun simply collapsed and fell fast asleep.
She trusted his words and was grateful for everything he had arranged; she simply longed to see him, often dreaming of him and wondering what the truth of his situation might be.
Li Xia’s eyes widened. Realizing the gravity of her responsibilities as a mother, she insisted firmly, "That is not the case at all. I have kept a close watch and asked; Ai Xia’s menstrual cycles have always been regular."
Though they could not see each other’s faces clearly, they could vaguely distinguish one another by the lines of their figures and the contours of their faces.
"We do not know the specifics either. Tianxing only said that after he returns from Ethereal Island, he will explain the full details of this matter to all the major sects." Shui Rouyue did not wish to say more; in her heart, she was also desperate for Yi Xue to save Tianxing.
Lin Fan smiled without saying anything. Since he had come today and drunk so much of Old Zheng’s wine, painting a picture for him later was no trouble at all.
Qingchi chuckled as he moved Alan, who was now completely immobile, to the side of the fodder pile and helped him sit down.
"Of course! I was born a member of the Sword Casting Sect, and I shall die a ghost of the Sword Casting Sect!" Achao declared with firm conviction.
Although this world had been destroyed many times by the Divine Dragon, the creature had lingered for so long that the world had been infused with the blessings of its heavenly fortune. Through cycles of destruction and rebirth, it had reached a point where it was now a nearly perfect world.
Nangong Tian instantly tightened his embrace, pulling Jiang Xinyu firmly against him. It was perhaps a punishment for her nonchalant answer, or perhaps he simply wanted to take advantage of the situation. Regardless, the single gesture held a multitude of meanings.
However, Shen Yan could not dwell on such things. She had never before experienced the sensation of being so protected, and this was likely the most peaceful sleep she had enjoyed in the year since she had traversed to this world.
Hearing Song Xinggui’s words, Chen Feng sighed helplessly. In this day and age, that was simply how things were: as long as one had money, influence, or connections, one could easily find a scapegoat even for the most heinous of crimes.
Without the system’s assistance, relying solely on his own deductive abilities, it would have taken Chen Yang at least several thousand years to break this seal, and even then, success would not have been guaranteed.
The darkness and strife of the inner palace always bred sharpness, for stupidity was synonymous with death; thus, those who survived were all clever individuals. Consequently, the Xiang Consort of today was already able to discern the Emperor’s thoughts from his most subtle expressions.
The shrill voice made Tao Yi’s ears ache. She looked up to see Tao Rou standing on the stairs, looking down at her from above.
