Chapter 31: Let's Take a Picture with Mom
Gu Yu hesitated for a moment before answering the call.
"Brother, Xiaofeng's kindergarten is holding a parent-child sports day this Friday. Can you come?"
Gu Yu frowned. "Nuannuan, I have already made myself very clear. Do not come to me about Xiaofeng lately. Protecting him last time already upset Xixi greatly. She is currently threatening to divorce me, and you know that I cannot divorce her; I love her."
Gu Nuannuan immediately began to cry, sounding aggrieved. "But what did Xiaofeng do wrong? He is innocent. He came into this world unable to openly enjoy a father's love, and he is constantly pointed at by other children who call him a fatherless child. Because of this, he got into a fight with another boy at kindergarten yesterday, and his hand is all swollen."
"How could such a thing happen?" Gu Yu asked, his voice laced with anger. "Is the injury serious? Why didn't you tell me sooner? What about the child who hit him? Did their parents show up?"
Hearing this, Gu Nuannuan cried even harder. "Since Xiaofeng has no father, the other parents all bully me for having no one to rely on. Everyone else has both parents attending the sports day, but I am all alone. When the time comes, they will only mock Xiaofeng and bully him even more relentlessly."
"Alright, alright, stop crying." Gu Yu’s tone softened. "Is the sports day on Friday? Don't worry, I will go. Tell Xiaofeng to cheer up."
"Really? That’s wonderful." Gu Nuannuan’s tears turned into a smile. "Brother, Xiaofeng and I will be waiting for you."

Today, Tang Xi was volunteering with Mrs. Liu. A nearby kindergarten was holding its autumn sports day, and because parents were participating, the crowd was massive. They had come to help maintain order.
Mrs. Liu had a clever idea; she brought a rabbit mascot suit for Tang Xi while she wore a panda suit herself.
As soon as the two mascots appeared, they immediately attracted countless children who swarmed around them.
Wearing the large rabbit head, Tang Xi could only see through the small eye holes. The curious children surrounded them, chattering incessantly.
"This kindergarten is incredibly expensive," Mrs. Liu said. "It costs over three hundred thousand a month. My son graduated from here."
Mrs. Liu’s husband was in the real estate business and was quite prominent in the industry, but Mrs. Liu disliked socializing. After meeting Tang Xi two years ago, she had started taking painting lessons with her and joining her for volunteer work.
Tang Xi suddenly recalled that the kindergarten Xiaofeng was supposed to attend was also very expensive. "Is this the Wancheng Bilingual Kindergarten?"
"Yes, it's written right up there!" Mrs. Liu laughed. "Do you think it's nice here too? When you and Mr. Gu have children, you should send them here. I’m quite close with the principal."
It was because of this connection that the principal had asked them to help out.
Tang Xi said nothing; the mascot suit did a good job of hiding her awkward expression.
Once the sports day began, Tang Xi and Mrs. Liu were kept busy. Although the children were accompanied by their parents, they were truly a handful.
"Rabbit Teacher, could you help us take a photo?" A familiar voice suddenly echoed in her ear.
Tang Xi turned around and saw Gu Yu holding his phone, looking at her with a beaming smile.
His left hand was holding Xiaofeng, and his right hand was holding Gu Nuannuan.
"Daddy, Daddy, this rabbit is so ugly. I don't want it to help," Xiaofeng said, as rude as ever. "I want that panda."
"Xiaofeng, you mustn't say that. The rabbit is the cutest one." Gu Yu crouched down and kissed his cheek. "Come on, stand still. Let’s take a picture with Mommy."
He held out his phone toward her again, a gentle and polite smile on his face. "Rabbit Teacher, could you please help us?"
