Chapter 27: Send Her to the Hospital Once More
Gu Yu had been extremely busy lately. His assistant delivered an envelope early that morning.
Busy with work, he asked his assistant to open it for him.
"What is this?" Gu Yu noticed his assistant looking at him with a strange expression, stammering and unable to speak.
When the assistant remained unresponsive for a long time, Gu Yu snatched the document away. Upon seeing the words "Divorce Agreement" in bold, his face turned livid.
Without even glancing at the contents, he fed the document straight into the paper shredder.
"That will be all. You may leave."
After the assistant stepped out, his heart was in turmoil. Everyone in the company knew that the boss’s devotion to his wife was one in a million; describing it as love beyond all reason was no exaggeration.
Even during the most important company meetings, if his wife sent a message, he would immediately halt his work to reply.
The company was named "Haixi Film," using his wife’s name—a change he had made the moment he took over.
There had been tactless actresses in the company who tried to challenge the wife’s status in the boss’s heart, but every one of them had been unceremoniously swept out the door.
That was why the assistant was so stunned by the "Divorce Agreement"; his first instinct was that it must be someone’s prank.
Gu Yu, having lost all focus for work, sat in his chair and called Tang Xi.
This time, the call was answered quickly.
"Did you sign it?" To his surprise, this was the first thing she asked.
Gu Yu said hurriedly, "Honey, where are you? Let me come to you, okay? I can explain everything."
"Send Gu Wennuan back to the old mansion now, and then I will listen to your explanation."
Gu Yu choked on his words. "Honey, Xiao Feng kept having nightmares after spending one night at the old mansion. I had no choice but to bring them back. Give me some time to figure out a solution, all right?"
Tang Xi gave a cold laugh. "Gu Yu, the way you act makes me feel like Xiao Feng is your own biological child."
Gu Yu’s expression changed drastically.
"If you decide to sign, call me again. Aside from that, please do not disturb me."
Listening to the line go dead, Gu Yu felt a wave of panic and frustration. Overwhelmed by an emotion he couldn't vent, he swept everything off his desk.
Outside, the assistant was startled. He now believed that the boss and his wife were truly heading for divorce. But why?
While the assistant was left in utter confusion, Gu Yu grabbed his coat and hurried out.
He went straight to Song Xining’s home and pounded on the door until it rattled. If anyone knew where Tang Xi was, it had to be Song Xining.
Song Xining opened the door, leaning against the frame and eyeing him askance. "What is it, President Gu?"
Gu Yu pushed her aside and strode into the house, searching every room.
"Where is Tang Xi?" Gu Yu asked, his eyes bloodshot.
"Tang Xi is your wife. Why are you coming to me for her?" Song Xining sneered. "What shameless thing did you do to lose your wife, President Gu?"
"Song Xining." Gu Yu suddenly stepped forward and grabbed her by the throat. "Tell me where Tang Xi is!"
Song Xining, nursing an injury on her leg, was no match for him. As he pinned her against the wall, her breathing grew labored.
Gu Yu took her phone from her pocket and dialed Tang Xi’s number.
It was answered instantly. "A-Ning?"
"Xixi, I want to see you." The voice that came through was Gu Yu’s.
Tang Xi was about to hang up when she heard Gu Yu’s chilling tone: "If I don't see you today, I will make sure Song Xining ends up in the hospital again. You know I always keep my word."
"Gu Yu, are you sick?" Tang Xi was burning with rage. "If you dare touch A-Ning, I’m not finished with you."
"So, where are you?"
