Xu Qingning had no idea how she got back. Only when she slipped her hand into her pocket did she realize that all her belongings were still in the house she shared with Pei Xi.
She had nothing on her but her phone. The battery was at nine percent, and it would probably die before she could even hail a car.
She crouched by the door, resting her chin on her knees, and let her mind go blank.
This had always been her way of healing herself. After completing a mission for the System Bureau, she would clean herself up, curl into a beanbag chair, cut off every means of communication, and let her thoughts drift wherever they pleased.
When her biological clock woke her the next day, she would simply return to work. And so the cycle continued.
Tang Youyou stared at him in confusion. Ming Potian also stopped, turning his icy blue eyes upon him. Could it be that after being spared, this man had instead refused to let the matter rest?
That night, after reaching the rest camp, Leng Yue handed all the arrangements for setting up camp to Fang Qingzhuo, then shut herself away and did not come out again. Outside, the moonlight lay in a hazy veil over the earth. It looked as though the next day would bring a lingering spring rain.
By then, the blue cloth covering Ye Xiang’s face had been torn away in the course of her unconscious struggles.
“Because I like you!”
Tao Qiujing finally voiced what was in her heart. Gazing into those violet-red eyes that had haunted her dreams, looking at the refined face so close to hers and those perfectly shaped crimson lips, she leaned forward and kissed him beneath Bei Mingyu’s astonished gaze.
The Woma warriors all raised the iron forks in their hands and launched a fierce assault on the human warriors. The Dark Warriors’ flesh spines inflicted heavy casualties upon the human ranks.
Old Mu was momentarily stunned. In the more than twenty years he had been master of the manor, no one had ever dared show him such disregard, and he had not expected Leng Yue to respond this way. But he quickly recovered.
“May I have the honor of learning your name?”
Leng Yue still did not answer.
“What’s wrong with taking the evil fruits?” Ye Xiang asked as she walked. Then she remembered the fruits she had just seen fall to the ground and instantly grow into evil-fruit trees. Wasn’t that simply expansion?

“Good day, gentlemen. Might I speak with you in private?” asked a lean, powerful-looking man who appeared to be their leader.
Ding Yi lounged against the back of the chair and pointed to his thigh…
He actually wants me to sit on his lap? Is he out of his mind?
Suddenly, in his deep sleep, Mo Yu Jingchen’s brows knitted tightly together. His hands clenched beside him, trembling without pause.
Liuxing slowly fed the eight chess pieces in his hand into the central opening at the tip of the tail. Once all eight had disappeared inside, the tail began to glow red. It seemed to have completely digested the pieces.
At that moment, Linghu Chong’s expression began to change. It shifted from casual at first, to spellbound, then spellbound again, before finally growing tense—and now his face had begun to twist into a fierce grimace.
With a snap of his fingers, Liuxing’s blood-red wings suddenly unfurled behind him. Blood-red feathers shot continuously from them, piercing every mercenary until their bodies bristled with crimson plumes.
Who would have thought that he would hesitate for so long instead of striking? In the end, he lowered his hand unwillingly and stepped aside, revealing the person behind him. He was about to bow, but that person stopped him.
The ancient stone residence before them looked old and dilapidated, yet it exuded an overwhelming presence. Merely looking at the two enormous dark-stone gates made one feel a faint pressure.
Seraog’s introduction certainly carried an imposing air. As expected, a young demon was something else entirely.
Seeing the remnants of his army’s main force lying sprawled everywhere, exhausted beyond measure, Sima Ang had no choice but to accept Li Zuoche’s advice at once. He led the surviving core troops into the city to rest, then sent orders to Aocang, instructing its defenders to hold the line with all their strength. Once his main force had recovered somewhat, they would go and join them.
At that moment, four elders of the Star Saint Land burst from the sea of flames. Unfortunately, their injuries were too severe. The instant they flew out, they plunged headfirst to the ground and rolled about, screaming in agony. The flesh all over their bodies had melted away, exposing stark white bones. They still struggled, not yet entirely dead.
As the fingers flew high into the air, the hand bell also struck the ground and shattered into countless fragments. The revolver fell beside it, while the fire-avoiding ring rolled into Liuxing’s hand.

Before becoming the sect leader, Dongfang Bubai had been the Left Protector of Light, while Xiang Wentian had been the Right Protector of Light. It was no exaggeration to say that, apart from Ren Woxing, Xiang Wentian had been his greatest rival.
“Lu Yao’s face is completely natural, untouched by any cosmetic alteration. That is, in truth, both an irresponsible and a highly confident choice. But does she really have the capital to be confident? Let us examine the matter from a professional perspective.”
Professor T made a surprisingly compelling opening.
Mi Xiang’er could not be bothered to argue with him. She left four eggs in the pot, boiled them, and, after letting them cool slightly, stuffed two of them into Gu Dalong’s hands.
Roughly half an hour later, two black-hole-like objects appeared out of thin air where the Thunder Beast and the Red-Tailed Lizard Dragon had departed. Ripples spread through the surrounding space.
“Ye Mia is in the hospital after falling into the water. Go and see her. Brother Mingjia, I’m really fine. I just need to go home and rest for a while.”
With that, he hurried away.
After holding out for four or five seconds, Guan Er finally collapsed completely, flopping directly onto the ground in exactly the same position as Chen Hu and Han Xu, who had already fallen beside him.
This was a habit he had developed ever since Mi Xiang’er left. Whenever he returned to camp, the first thing he did was ask about the mail. Somewhere deep inside, he always found himself hoping: Perhaps—just perhaps—or maybe… she would write?
Chen Gong was so ashamed he could have died. He was only a step away from drawing his sword and killing someone.
“What a disgrace to the family! My Chen family is not so poor that we cannot afford food. You beasts! You beasts!”
Though hot-tempered, he was a man of genuine integrity. He had hidden in his tent for several days, refusing to see anyone. It was only after another major incident befell him in Chenliu that he finally emerged, his face dark with anger.
Shen Ting briefly explained the project she was currently working on, then showed her the code their team was writing. After Gu Xiaoyun indicated that she understood, Shen Ting had her begin working.
