Volume 1, Chapter 36: The Killer Bear!
Liu Zhongguo and Zhao Qian from the police station first went to see the villagers who had been bitten by the bear. Their faces grew increasingly grim upon witnessing the injuries.
At this moment, the old man spoke to the few men from the Ximen family who had been chasing him. Clearly, still reeling from the severe blow he had suffered, the elder began to analyze the situation with a rare clarity.
The night was deep, yet Tu Ao had still not returned. Xiao Huan gazed out at the boundless darkness beyond the window, a sudden unease stirring within him. Just then, something even more unsettling unfolded.
Venomous Snake’s face paled in shock, realizing that the longer this dragged on, the more certain his defeat became. When that time came, not only would he lose the gold, but his very life would be at risk. Instantly, he released his soft sword, took two angled steps back, and with a sharp flick of his wrist, a cloud of white mist shot out under the sunlight, heading straight for Huang Kui’s face.
“You, you really are something,” Long Miaomiao said, looking at Yingjun who held her backpack. Though she muttered complaints, her heart felt warm and sweet. Seeing Yingjun show such tenderness and protectiveness in front of Moduo elevated her impression of him considerably.
But he should never have come. How had Long Feiyun informed him? Who was he? He was Nangong Aoxue!
“That’s the Yun family,” Yingjun said with a sly grin, “Enough about them. Hey, let your man have a kiss first. It’s been a long time; let your husband savor those sexy red lips of yours.” Without waiting for Meng Hui’s reply, he suddenly pulled her close, his mouth settling firmly on her bright lips.
Zhang Liang smiled faintly. “Thank you.” He had encountered these types many times before—bullies who preyed on the weak—and saw no reason to confront them head-on.
“Who don’t you want to let go?” Jiang Ming asked casually as he laid his cousin down on the bed, pulled the blanket over her, and stepped out, overhearing the remark.
The stone steps were about two meters wide. Beyond them was a hollow cliff. Looking down, an abyss of utter blackness stretched so deep that the bottom was invisible.
Originally, Cheng Lingzhi had planned to cook noodles herself, but she realized it was still a bit too much. Though she could move about, she was not yet strong enough for heavy labor—she couldn’t even lift the pot. How was she supposed to cook noodles?
Rarely did Tong Guaigui see Yun Ze behave so dramatically. She watched as he stood naked at the door and, before she could stop him, suddenly opened the room’s door.
A few villagers, however, brightened immediately when Zhan Xiu entered. They hurried over, shouting “Zhan Banxian, Zhan Banxian!” in a chaotic frenzy.
“I was able to restore you to this state, of course, I have other ways to help you return to your former self when you go back,” Xie Genyuan lied.
Seeing Qi Tianhao gulp down water, Chu Zimo gently raised his head, a soft smile playing on his lips. It was as if after the exhausting effort to fetch the water, his efforts had finally been recognized, filling him with a deep sense of relief.
Putting aside his father’s recent ostentatious actions and their true intent, just the shock reflected in the officials’ eyes after hearing those words made Ji Fa feel considerably lighter and secretly pleased.
“Yes, my subordinate had almost succeeded, but there was a swordsman by her side, causing my efforts to fail!” A shadow behind him immediately knelt on one knee, bowing his head as he spoke.
Su Jin nodded, reaching out with his right hand to push open the courtyard gate. As his hand drew closer to the door, his heart surged with anticipation. Zhongli Luo, would you be inside?
Returning home, one found that Yin Chen was missing. After asking around, it was learned that he had gone into the city, and what followed was the situation described at the beginning.
The ground still bore dried bloodstains, and a heavy metallic scent of blood hung thickly in the air.
