Volume 1, Chapter 30: Good heavens, he makes money faster than a highwayman!
Xu Mo pushed his bicycle through the small gate and into the cardboard box factory. The factory spanned a vast area, yet it was unnervingly desolate. Over the years, had it not been for the cannery’s constant need for packaging, this place would have likely shuttered long ago. Now, in the dead of winter, with the cannery dormant, the box factory had followed suit, falling into idle silence. Guided by the elderly gatekeeper, Xu Mo arrived before a mud-brick building, parked his bicycle, and locked it.
"Factory Director! Factory Director!" the old man shouted toward the square glass windows.
"Master." A shadowy black figure emerged, and Ziyi, wearing a half-mask, appeared instantly behind Gu Qi.
"In reply to my Lady, she turned seventeen this year," Lichun said with a smile as she set down the tray. Observing Green Pearl’s displeased expression, she prepared to take Xun Cao outside.
I stood rooted to the spot, clenching my fists as I let out a roar. The raging Buddha, mid-charge, suddenly stopped. Cracks spiderwebbed across its body, and it stumbled back a few paces before being sent flying backward with a thunderous crash. My hair whipped about, rippling behind me as I stepped back.
At this, Zang Kongbai and Yang Ye, having long since lost the will to fight, hurriedly fled with their men, their eyes filled with trepidation.
Lengzi picked up the Proof of Lordship for the Border City and headed toward the Sanctuary checkpoint connecting to the southern town of Tengluo. As he passed the tavern on the map where the Border City was located, he instinctively stepped inside.
The Sanctuary’s Griffins and Royal Griffins charged the Undead lines, engaging in hand-to-hand combat.
Though he had not closed his eyes all night, his gaze was sharper and more piercing than ever. It was as if he were on the battlefield, charging and maneuvering without fatigue, in a state of high exhilaration. The icy focus radiating from him left his guards secretly trembling.
When Feng Lan barged into the Changchun Palace in a fury, Lan Xin had just finished her morning toilette after sending the Emperor off to court. Sipping a cup of hot tea with measured grace, she finally allowed them to bring Feng Lan in, intending to interrogate her on the matter.
Panyu approached the side of Noble Consort Hui and reached out to gently stroke her flushed cheek; the smooth, delicate texture could not be faked. Lowering her head, she offered only a faint smile.
All of Lengzi’s units had completed their actions, and it was now the turn of his various war machines.
However, the three enemy Rhino tanks seemed to have finally realized the situation. They turned their turrets and retreated, charging toward the cliff where Liu Sen’s two Prism tanks were stationed.
The words he was about to speak were suddenly cut short by a series of urgent knocks at the door.
"Tell me, what is troubling you now? Perhaps I can be your Zhang Liang." I took his hand, the thick calluses on his palm pricking my skin; it felt ticklish, yet strangely reassuring.
Of everyone present, only the Princess and the Princess Consort were exempt from bowing; all others were required to pay their respects with the utmost deference.
And yet, this person had come to Mount Shu only to help the sect cultivate two masters at the Deity Transformation stage! Thinking of this, Gu Yueye could hardly restrain the urge to return to the sect to meet this person. But he was still needed to preside over the front-line formation; to leave now would be truly improper.
Unexpectedly, upon returning to the living room, she saw Gu Hanshi sitting on the sofa.
Dabai retracted its silk thread, pressed both feet against the other window, and dropped a massive object to the ground, sending dust and smoke swirling into the air.
"Finally..." Lu Dunhua began his logical analysis, treating the degree as if it were a commodity to be peddled.
In truth, Qingyun Zhi-shang had not failed to consider going outside to eliminate that mysterious sniper. However, the critical issue was the chaos within his own base. Under such circumstances, he had no mind left to hunt that fellow down.
Zeyan’s hand paused slightly. The "master" she spoke of must surely be someone from this immortal mountain in the mortal realm, he thought. Yet, to his knowledge, no one from this mountain had ever ascended to immortality.
