Chapter 14: Departure—In Search of the Sect Leader!
Although the firearm was indeed a groundbreaking weapon in this era, handing over the guns was not a problem.
For one, his cultivation was the highest at present, and he now possessed a third-rank protective silk garment that required at least ten bullets to penetrate.
This garment didn’t merely shield the body; its energy also protected exposed areas. To disable it, at least ten shots were needed.
Moreover, the bullets were not infinite; once depleted, the gun was no more than a stick.
As for crafting bullets by hand—such a notion was purely fanciful. In this world, developing quality smokeless powder and machinery would take an incalculable amount of time.
Considering all this, it was decided that the right to wield firearms would be determined through cultivation.
“Fourth junior sister, have you completed the inventory of supplies?”
After announcing the news, Liang Chuan inquired about the resources they had gathered so far.
Liu Ruyan nodded. “According to our tally, the four great sects have over four hundred thousand first-rank spirit stones after removing impurities. The count of cultivation manuals is still underway, but it’s estimated to be six times the original amount…”
Upon hearing this, a faint smile appeared on Liang Chuan’s face.
First-rank spirit stones were not particularly valuable in the modern era, mainly because of their high impurity content.
However, high-purity spirit stones and cultivation manuals were priceless treasures, especially since this time they had brought back many previously unseen manuals from the Blood Moon Sect.
“Excellent. Gather these resources into unified storage. During this period, if anyone needs materials for cultivation, provide full support. You will be responsible for managing this,” he instructed.
With the war imminent, even a slight boost in strength from these resources could tip the scales in their favor.
After giving some final reminders, Liang Chuan took a step back from management.
The immediate priority was to cultivate stronger. He was merely at the mid Foundation Establishment stage and, with average talent, had to rely on diligence to compensate for shortcomings.
Returning to his room, Liang Chuan rested his chin on his hand, deep in thought.
“It seems I still need to use modern technology to aid my cultivation.”
The greatest difference between the modern and ancient cultivation worlds lay in the spiritual energy contained in the air.
Hence, many aids for cultivation had been developed in the modern era.
Because of this, most modern cultivators had reached Foundation Establishment, but advancing beyond required even more resources.
If those modern tools that could accelerate cultivation were brought back to the ancient times, it would be nothing short of a blatant cheat.
His considerations were not only about cultivation speed.
More importantly, he worried that advanced technology might not be transferable; thus, raw power would still be necessary.
No matter how fiercely he fought now, against opponents of higher realms, his effectiveness would drastically diminish.
Liang Chuan lay back on the bed, rubbing the back of his head with a frown.
“Currently, I need to bring over weapons and cultivation manuals, and secondly, find a way to bring over bulky technologies!”
Though transporting items was convenient now, some powerful weapons were simply impossible to transfer.
For example, vehicles and similar items—without solving this, their efforts would remain small-scale.
“Wait!” Liang Chuan suddenly sat up. “What if I could bring over production lines directly?”
Having worked in a factory assembling screws before, he was familiar with production lines, and even the simplest ones could significantly boost their strength.
Moreover, these could enable mass production!
He hurried to his desk, picked up a brush pen, and quickly wrote a development proposal.
After jotting down his ideas, he placed the letter into a black wooden box.
“Hopefully, everything will go smoothly!”
Watching the letter disappear, Liang Chuan silently prayed, “I must survive and find a way back!”
His daughter was so adorable; he wouldn't let those damn blond-haired brats fixate on her!
Three days passed swiftly.
“Third senior brother, these are the other two disciples who have reached the beginner level of the handgun guidance technique!” Liu Ruyan led two disciples into the main hall.
Liang Chuan nodded slightly. “Good. These two firearms, named guns, will be entrusted to you!”
Cultivation of a manual progressed through beginner, acquaintance, small success, great success, and perfection.
Reaching the beginner level in just three days showed some talent.
With the handgun guidance technique, they could at least operate firearms simply!
They could use guns directly, but the guidance technique greatly improved accuracy through spiritual energy.
He took two guns from a prepared box and handed them to the disciples.
Feeling the weight of the guns in their hands, the two disciples’ breathing grew heavy.
“So these are the artifacts that can easily deal with Foundation Establishment stage cultivators!”
“Soon we’ll be as strong as third senior brother!”
Their eyes shone with hope—they were still only in the late Qi Refining stage.
Owning such artifacts was beyond their wildest dreams, yet now they held them in reality.
“Senior brother, when will we set out?” Liu Ruyan asked the question closest to her heart.
Though disaster had likely struck, perhaps the sect leader or elders had survived and might already be on their way back!
“Strike while the iron is hot! Prepare to depart with me!” Liang Chuan replied.
He knew that until the fate of the sect leader and elders was clarified, he could not legitimately command the disciples.
Whether they lived or died, it was not a bad thing for him.
If they survived, he would be spared the burdens of managing the sect.
If dead, as the senior-most in rank, the sect should rightfully be under his control.
No one would be able to suppress him with the title of sect leader anymore!
Since speed was vital, they traveled light. Within less than half an hour, Liu Ruyan and the two disciples had packed and stood before Liang Chuan.
He crossed his arms behind his back and glanced over them. “This journey is perilous. If you’re afraid, you may stay behind.”
“Senior brother! We’re not afraid!”
“With the artifacts you gave us, we’ll take down anyone!”
The two disciples immediately pledged their loyalty.
If they feared death, they would have surrendered long ago; they wouldn’t be standing here now.
Liang Chuan nodded with satisfaction. He was not reckless.
From captured disciples of the Blood Moon Sect, he learned their sect leader’s cultivation was at the Nascent Soul stage.
With a few guns in a surprise attack, victory was likely!
“This expedition will be fraught with danger. No matter what I say, you must obey me!”
He was determined not to be dragged down by foolish comrades.
The three clasped their fists, determination etched on their faces, and said:
“We will follow everything third senior brother says!”
