Zhou Yu was struck on the head and instinctively moved closer. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a few navy personnel approaching nearby. He snorted coldly and turned to follow the group ahead. He had deliberately lowered his voice earlier, fearing the people in the vehicle might overhear. But since there were more navy men outside, he had no choice but to let the old man go this time. Next time, there would be no mercy!

Zhu San glanced at the young man’s retreating figure, thinking to himself that this person was truly crazy, with an abnormal mind. As soon as he saw his son's superior get out of the vehicle, he immediately put on a smile.

“My son has a very good temper, and he is trained however necessary. Serving the country means not fearing hardship. Don’t treat him like a child!”

Zhao Yue responded, “Uncle, don’t worry. I will train him well.”

Bai Yang inwardly felt sorry for that man—no one was worse at tricking his own son.

“Old Zhao!” An anxious voice called from outside, full of urgency.

They couldn’t help but look out, the familiar voice bringing them a warm feeling.

Su Jinxia got out of the car and saw several people in navy uniforms, some tall, some short, all fairly ordinary-looking. They carried bags in their hands.

They all wore smiles, and the one surnamed Bai was even hugging a few of them.

Zhao Yue said, “Judging by your looks, the home visits must have gone well this time.”

Sun Hu replied, “Of course. A warm home with wife and kids—though we can only stay a few days. Sometimes I really want to retire, but I can’t bear to give up this uniform. A few more years, and I’ll definitely go home to spend more time with them.”

Liu Che asked, “Old Zhao, didn’t you go home for a visit? We left two days earlier than you. By that schedule, you shouldn’t be at home now.”

Zhao Yue’s eyes darkened at the thought of home. “This trip back is only to handle Dongzi’s affairs.”

Upon hearing Dongzi’s name, everyone fell silent. They had joined the military together, and at only 25, Dongzi was gone.

But if it were them, faced with those circumstances, they would have made the same choice.

At that moment, Sun Hu noticed a young lady nearby, fair-skinned and pretty—a city girl for sure.

“Is this girl one you’re bringing back to complete the paperwork? Whose is she?”

Bai Yang coughed loudly to remind him not to meddle.

Sun Hu continued on his own, “She’s really beautiful. Let me guess—she belongs to Xiao Bai?”

Bai Yang could only cover his face with one hand and wave the other, signaling them to stop talking nonsense.

They had angered the little whirlwind; if they got scolded later, they’d be in big trouble.

Zhao Yue said, “This young lady is a friend of mine; she came along as we traveled.”

The three men suddenly understood what was going on. It turned out Old Zhao had brought her along. According to navy regulations, they tried to bring spouses to the base to handle formalities and ensure political vetting.

Li Haixia got out of the car, rubbing her eyes, and immediately approached Su Jinxia at the door.

“I accidentally fell asleep. Those old women didn’t even call me once. They just wanted to embarrass me.”

Su Jinxia laughed at her words. “Go line up for tickets first; I still have to wait a bit.”

Li Haixia was straightforward and noticed many people around them wearing navy uniforms—clothes she recognized.

She smiled at them and quickly walked away. Wow, how did Xiaxia know so many soldiers? They all looked good, and her heart fluttered.

Bai Yang scratched his head, finding the dark-skinned girl quite cute, especially when she ran—she looked like a little black rabbit in the forest. He wasn’t sure why that image came to mind; it just seemed amusing.

Zhao Yue grabbed his bag and said, “Let’s go! We’ll talk on the boat.”

Suddenly, the sky darkened. Looking up, they saw clouds covering the entire sky. Moments ago, the sun had been shining brightly.

“How can the weather change so quickly?” Sun Hu muttered. “Hope it doesn’t pour.”

Liu Che smacked him on the head. “Think positive, will you? You’re such a jinx! Nothing good happens when you speak; only bad things come true. Let’s just get back safely.”

The others laughed heartily, walking side by side toward the boarding area.

Su Jinxia followed silently, her mind already suspicious. The incident was supposed to happen tomorrow, but given the current situation…

Could it be that it would happen on this very boat? If her suspicions were right and she could save Zhao Yue, then everything between them would be settled.

Find her grandfather, bring people back, and deal with those scoundrels—why had her past life been so miserable while they lived well? She had returned for revenge!

In two months, she would become an educated youth, like last time taking exams. Now with a photographic memory, she was confident about entering university.

Money was no concern; the space held so much gold that she could live freely.

Before she knew it, they arrived at the boarding point and queued for tickets. Holding her ticket, her left eyelid twitched.

Whenever her eyelid twitched, something major was about to happen. It had never failed.

Gazing out over the vast sea, she clenched her ticket tightly.

Li Haixia wore a sour expression, looking at the sky. Seeing Su Jinxia, she approached and said,

“Looks like it’s going to rain. If I’d known, I would have rushed back yesterday to avoid this unlucky weather.”

Su Jinxia glanced around; the place was desolate except for the ticket booth, which closed after they bought tickets. Where did everyone else go?

“This weather really isn’t good for sailing.”

Li Haixia nodded. “Yeah, the elders say don’t go out to sea in rain. But with so many people here, no one can avoid sailing; there’s nowhere to stay.”

“Let’s just hope the rain holds off a little longer,” she added. “If it lasts only half an hour, we’ll be back on the island.”

Su Jinxia said, “Then you better pray everything goes smoothly.”

If fate was already decided, she wanted to see if she could overcome it.

Li Haixia sighed and spotted her friends waving from nearby. “I’ll go join them first. We’ll talk later.”

“Okay, go ahead!” Su Jinxia replied, watching her leave.

Her mind raced. She had a life-saving space, but if a major maritime accident happened, many would be beyond rescue. She clenched her fists.

“What’s wrong? Why so nervous?” Zhao Yue asked.

Su Jinxia looked at him. “Is it dangerous to sail in the rain?”

Zhao Yue replied, “The captain is very experienced. It’ll only take half an hour to get back to the island. They know what they’re doing. Don’t worry, just stay close to me.”

Su Jinxia thought that the more experienced someone was, the more likely they might make mistakes.

“I think, just to be safe, he should have the boat checked.”

Zhao Yue glanced at the heavy clouds, handed his bag to Sun Hu, and went to find the captain.

Captain Wu was an old acquaintance. After hearing Zhao Yue’s concerns, he didn’t hesitate. A few of them inspected the boat together.

When they reached the engine, they discovered a serious problem, causing cold sweat to break out on their backs.
