Volume One, Chapter 17: Liu Haisheng
“Do you know those two guys with the fat one?” Jiang Buyue asked.
“Met them online,” the fat guy replied.
“How did you meet them online?”
“One day, someone suddenly added me. I accepted, and she said she’d been following me for a long time. She also said she was a widow, lacking love.”
Jiang Buyue was momentarily stunned, beginning to doubt his friend’s intelligence.
At that moment, the door to Room 804 suddenly opened. Liu Haisheng stepped out, his hands stained with streaks of blood.
Looking toward Room 803, Liu Haisheng called out, “Liu Zi, come out!”
The fat guy shakily opened the door. The most awkward moment in life, he thought, was running into your own boss at a couple’s hotel. Liu Haisheng noticed Jiang Buyue and Bai Ruixue standing behind his son.
Jiang Buyue was naturally known to him, but the stunning girl behind him seemed familiar—he just couldn’t place her name.
“Dad! What’s going on? Weren’t you working on the piston?”
Hearing this, Liu Haisheng was infuriated but held back, restrained by the situation.
“I’ll deal with you when we get home!”
“You! If the company ends up in your hands, it’s doomed to fail!”
“Dad, what exactly is going on?”
Liu Haisheng pulled out a tissue to wipe the blood from his hands, his gaze shifting to Bai Ruixue behind Jiang Buyue.
“Dad, they’re my classmates—you can trust them!”
“You’re so naïve, letting someone you’ve known for only three days book a room. You really have guts, Buyue!” Liu Haisheng looked at Jiang Buyue, seeking confirmation.
Jiang Buyue glanced at Bai Ruixue; their eyes met. He couldn’t say he knew her well, but he felt Bai Ruixue wasn’t the type to be involved in shady matters. After all, her father was the president of the Martial Artists Association, and her mother was the head of the Enforcement Department. Someone of her standing wouldn’t stoop to such disgraceful tactics.
After a moment’s thought, Jiang Buyue nodded firmly at Liu Haisheng. “Don’t worry, Uncle Liu. She can be trusted.”
Liu Haisheng nodded in return.
Bai Ruixue lowered her head, cheeks flushed.
Liu Haisheng trusted Jiang Buyue deeply. He and his foolish son had grown up together, shared everything, even worn the same underwear and fired guns side by side.
The three paid no attention to Bai Ruixue’s unusual demeanor and instead focused intently on Liu Haisheng’s explanation.
“Those three people are from the Wan Yao Pavilion branch!”
“Wan Yao Pavilion!” Jiang Buyue and the fat guy exclaimed in unison.
They exchanged glances.
Liu Haisheng was unfazed by their surprise and continued, “The branch owner from Wan Yao Pavilion is trying to sabotage us!”
“I had some suspicions before, but I didn’t show it. Recently, I noticed Liu Zi acting strange—at night, there were always noises in his room…”
Hearing this, the fat guy felt uneasy and interrupted his father’s story. “Dad! There are outsiders here!”
“Hey! You little brat, isn’t Buyue your good buddy? How could he be an outsider?”
“No, Dad! I mean…”
The fat guy sneaked a glance at Bai Ruixue behind them.
“Buyue’s girlfriend—she’s practically your sister-in-law. How could she be an outsider?”
Jiang Buyue and Bai Ruixue exchanged expressions, both slightly embarrassed.
“Uncle Liu, you’ve got it wrong. We’re just ordinary friends.”
“You misunderstood. We’re just friends.”
They answered simultaneously.
Liu Haisheng was momentarily stunned, then burst into laughter.
…
“That scoundrel Luo Hengwei from Wan Yao Pavilion is using a honey trap to swallow up my company!”
Jiang Buyue glanced at the two women lying on the floor in Room 804—the sultry, disheveled woman and the beautiful young girl.
“I figured it. Liu Yu may be clueless, but his father, Liu Haisheng, is at least the boss of a small company. He can’t be that dumb.”
“Uncle Liu, what do you plan to do now?” Jiang Buyue asked.
Liu Haisheng pulled out a Duck Pear 15 Pro Max—the beautiful girl’s phone.
He took out a severed finger to unlock it and opened a chat app.
Seeing this, Jiang Buyue and Liu Yu were stunned, both exclaiming in shock. Bai Ruixue remained relatively calm.
The phone displayed explosive messages.
“Wait!” Jiang Buyue suddenly recognized a familiar figure.
Luo Xiang!
Pointing at the photo on the screen, Jiang Buyue said, “I know this guy. He’s Luo Hengwei’s son!”
“No way! Playing such a dirty game, and Luo Xiang is so reckless and quick!”
“Wait, that Luo Xiang should be coming soon. I’ve got leverage on him,” Liu Haisheng said with a fierce expression.
“Is Luo Xiang an idiot? Why would he think of such a stupid plan?” the fat guy muttered thoughtfully.
Jiang Buyue and Liu Haisheng both stared at him sharply.
“Fatty! Maybe Luo Xiang thinks you’re too dumb, so he assumes Uncle Liu is as stupid as you. If not for Uncle Liu and the chance encounter with you, you’d probably be rotting in jail on rape charges right now.”
The fat guy was left speechless.
Liu Haisheng then said, “Go back to your rooms and observe quietly.”
The fat guy nodded slightly and turned to return to Room 803 but was abruptly pulled back by Liu Haisheng. “Come here, son!”
Jiang Buyue withdrew his gaze and noticed Bai Ruixue’s entire face was flushed. He was taken aback—this cool, aloof school beauty could actually look so shy.
…
The atmosphere grew awkward.
Uh, uh, uh!
…
Suddenly, Bai Ruixue asked unexpectedly, “What exactly do you like about Li Shishi?”
Jiang Buyue was stunned, finding the question strange.
Why ask that?
What do I like about Li Shishi?
He pondered carefully, starting to recall memories from his past life.
…
Jiang Buyue smiled wryly to himself—he didn’t even know what he liked about Li Shishi.
Bai Ruixue continued, “Which university do you plan to apply to?”
Jiang Buyue replied, “Depends on the situation. Probably one of the top five universities.”
“The top five? Jiang Buyue, are you joking? Even martial artists at second or third rank don’t have a sure chance of getting in!”
Jiang Buyue answered, “Is that so? Then maybe I’ll just pick some college and go.”
Bai Ruixue pinched a roll of flesh on his waist hard.
“Ah!”
Jiang Buyue screamed in pain.
“Bai Ruixue, what’s wrong with you?”
Jiang Buyue looked at her, his face full of mock anger, but he found it rather cute.
His gaze involuntarily drifted to Bai Ruixue’s long legs.
Damn! White silk stockings! I really want to touch them!
Ahem, caught myself staring!
“You…”
Bai Ruixue was about to speak when Jiang Buyue suddenly covered her mouth, his eyes fixed intently outside.
“Don’t talk. The pighead’s coming.”
Bai Ruixue glared at him, pushed him away, and stared fiercely.
“Jiang Buyue, you’re taking advantage of me!”
“Don’t say a word! If pighead hears, it’s trouble!”
“The room’s soundproof!”
Jiang Buyue paused for a moment.
Well, maybe it is!
