Volume One, Chapter 16: Renting a Room

The receptionist could not help but stare when she saw that angelic face.

Even as a woman herself, she felt an inexplicable urge to possess such beauty.

“Miss?”

A cool, distant voice replied, “That man just now is my boyfriend. I’m here to catch him cheating!”

The receptionist’s heart immediately filled with excitement and gossipy anticipation.

“How could that handsome guy do this? He has such a beautiful girlfriend, yet he still sneaks around.”

“Can I go upstairs?”

When the receptionist met the girl’s icy gaze, a chill ran through her.

“Of course you can! Go right ahead!”

As soon as the girl went upstairs, the receptionist pulled out her phone without hesitation and sent a message.

“Girls, there’s fresh gossip to watch!”

Jiang Buyue went up to the eighth floor and watched the Fatty and the glamorous, curvaceous woman enter Room 803.

He frowned, his face full of worry. “Fatty couldn’t have been lured into some organ-harvesting scheme, could he?”

“Why does it suddenly feel so cold behind me?” Jiang Buyue shivered.

He instinctively turned around for a glance.

What?!

Jiang Buyue saw someone he never expected to encounter.

The campus beauty, Bai Ruixue!

What was she doing here?

Bai Ruixue stared coldly at Jiang Buyue. The moment their eyes met, she grabbed him by the ear.

“Jiang Buyue, you’ve really grown bold! You actually came here to get a room!”

“Hey! Hey! Hey! That hurts! Bai Ruixue, what are you doing? Let go right now, or don’t blame me for getting rough!”

Bai Ruixue slammed Jiang Buyue against the wall, her face full of fury.

“The person you came here with—don’t tell me it was Li Shishi!”

Jiang Buyue’s mind went blank.

What the hell was Bai Ruixue doing here? Could it be that…

The campus beauty of Second High School, Bai Ruixue, had actually come to get a room!

“Ow! That hurts!”

“Tell me! Did you come here to get a room with Li Shishi?”

“Li Shishi? I’d sooner get a room with some stray dog on the street—cough, cough!”

“Hey! Who I get a room with has nothing to do with you!”

Jiang Buyue finally came to his senses and demanded angrily.

“Ah…”

A shriek rang out.

“I just saw Fatty come in with a glamorous woman and enter Room 803. I was worried he’d been lured into a honey trap, so I followed him up to check!”

Bai Ruixue froze for a moment, then asked again for confirmation. After thinking it over, Jiang Buyue’s behavior really did not look like that of someone who had come to get a room.

Could she really have misunderstood him?

At that thought, her cheeks flushed faintly, and she hurriedly released Jiang Buyue.

Just then, Jiang Buyue saw a chubby young man staring at him and Bai Ruixue with the same astonishment as someone watching a cartoon hero battle a famous piglet.

Fatty?

Wasn’t he supposed to be inside having dinner?

Fatty answered instinctively, “We ran out of condoms, so I went to buy some more.”

“No! That’s not what I meant! Brother Yue, what are you doing here? And why are you here with the campus beauty?”

Fatty looked as though he had witnessed something extraordinary.

Jiang Buyue hurriedly explained, “Fatty, it’s not what you think!”

Fatty patted him on the shoulder.

“I understand, Brother Yue. Not bad! You even managed to win over the campus beauty!”

“Ah…”

Another scream rang out.

Fatty covered his left eye and quickly put some distance between himself and Bai Ruixue.

“Campus beauty Bai, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have interrupted the two of you. I’ll leave right now—I’m leaving!”

Jiang Buyue grabbed Fatty before he could escape and asked, “Fatty, what’s your relationship with that big-busted woman you went inside with?”

“She’s my girlfriend.”

“How long have you been dating?”

Fatty scratched his head sheepishly.

“Three days.”

Jiang Buyue: -_-!!

“You’ve only been together for three days, and you already came here to get a room? Besides, she’s old enough to be your mother!”

“Brother Yue, what we have is true love!”

Jiang Buyue: -_-゛

Bai Ruixue: [expression] [expression] [expression] [expression] [expression] …

“Fatty, have you lost your mind? You…”

“Brother Yue, you don’t understand. She may be somewhat older than me, but our souls are connected.”

Fatty’s expression was resolute.

Jiang Buyue said, exasperated, “Do you even know what kind of person she is? What if she’s only trying to swindle you out of your money, or has some other motive?”

Fatty was just about to argue when the big-busted woman poked her head out of the room and said coyly, “Darling, what’s taking you so long?”

When she saw Jiang Buyue and Bai Ruixue, a trace of panic flashed through her eyes, but she quickly returned to normal.

Bai Ruixue narrowed her eyes as she studied the woman, sensing a faint fluctuation of martial energy.

“Fatty, don’t go back in there today. Come with me.”

Jiang Buyue grabbed Fatty and was about to leave.

The woman grew anxious and reached out to stop them.

“What are you doing? Why are you taking away my boyfriend?”

Jiang Buyue was getting anxious too.

“Ma’am, the three of us young people combined aren’t even as old as you!”

“Holy crap! My dad!”

Before Jiang Buyue could react, Fatty grabbed him and dragged him into Room 803.

Outside the room, the big-busted woman stood there blankly and glanced at Bai Ruixue across from her. Bai Ruixue’s gaze remained icy.

Bai Ruixue entered Room 803 as well.

With a heavy bang, the door slammed shut, leaving the curvaceous woman standing outside in utter confusion.

The hotel’s soundproofing was excellent, so they could not hear what the woman was saying outside.

“Fatty, what are you doing?” Jiang Buyue asked.

“I saw my dad,” Fatty said languidly.

Jiang Buyue froze. He opened the door a crack and cautiously peeked outside.

A plump, middle-aged man was leading a beautiful young girl into Room 804.

At the moment they entered, the beautiful girl and the curvaceous woman exchanged an extremely subtle glance. It was a tiny detail, but Jiang Buyue happened to notice it.

Then the curvaceous woman entered Room 804 as well.

Jiang Buyue was stunned.

What the hell?

He shut the door, looked at Fatty, then glanced at the heavily wrinkled, big-busted woman. Without the slightest hesitation, he said, “Your father has much better taste than you.”

Fatty came from a broken home. His parents had divorced when he was very young, and he had lived with his father ever since. So when it came to his father getting a room with someone, Fatty did not feel particularly surprised.

Before he could finish speaking, Fatty was already preparing to open the door and confront his father, determined to reclaim his true love.

Jiang Buyue pressed him down at once.

He was genuinely speechless.

“Fatty, has a dog eaten your brain? You’ve only known her for three days, yet she brought you here to get a room. Your father showed up at the same time and came to this hotel, and that woman entered your father’s room without the slightest hesitation. Haven’t you realized that something’s wrong?”

Fatty froze, and the anger in his heart subsided somewhat.

“What do you mean?”

Jiang Buyue and Bai Ruixue were both rendered speechless.

Bai Ruixue, who had remained silent until then, finally spoke.

“You and your father were probably set up.”

Fatty looked puzzled. “What does that mean?”
