Volume One, Chapter 11: Delivering Water

“Mr. Jiang, I trust the school will handle this matter fairly and justly!” Having spoken, Jiang Buyue stepped aside, giving Mr. Jiang a chance to respond, her gaze drifting slowly toward Li Lingfeng.
When Li Lingfeng met Jiang Buyue’s cold, icy stare, a chill ran through him.
“Jiang Buyue, why are you looking at me like that?”
Jiang Buyue asked, “Want to spar? My skills are a bit lacking—how about you guide me?” Li Lingfeng shook his head vigorously.
He had witnessed Jiang Buyue’s true strength that morning—her mastery of the Shadow Step was flawless, utterly dominating Luo Xiang from Class Two. Such a presence was one he didn’t want to provoke.
“Brother Yue, I feel so heartbroken!”
Jiang Buyue looked at the chubby boy. “Why are you sad? Could it be that Yi Ruiqi is your father?”
“We agreed to fall together, but you’re secretly working hard behind my back. I feel betrayed!”
After Yi Ruiqi was helped to the infirmary, Jiang Yiyun said, “Jiang Buyue, come to the office after school.”
“All right, teacher,” Jiang Buyue nodded in response.
“Shishi, is that loser Jiang Buyue really that strong?”
Li Shishi by Jiang Buyue’s side looked grimly in his direction.
“Shishi, a lot of girls in our class are checking him out now. Why don’t you just accept Jiang Buyue? He’s got the looks and the strength—much stronger than that Luo Xiang!”
Hearing this, Li Shishi frowned and glanced around. Sure enough, other girls in the class were sneaking glances at Jiang Buyue.
Li Shishi snorted arrogantly, “Hmph! When he apologizes, I’ll think about it.”
Zhang Xiaowei anxiously urged, “Shishi, are you stupid? So many girls are watching Jiang Buyue now. If one day he gets taken away, it’ll be over! You should buy him a bottle of water after class to smooth things over!”
Li Shishi replied nonchalantly, “That stinky loser has chased me for three years. He won’t give up so easily. Just wait—he’ll come back crawling. Me bringing water to him? Does he deserve that?”
At that moment, a cute girl about 1.56 meters tall emerged from the crowd, her cheeks flushed as she walked toward Jiang Buyue holding a bottle of mineral water.
Jiang Buyue noticed her quick approach.
“Jiang Buyue, are you thirsty? Here’s some water,” the girl said softly, so quietly that if one wasn’t paying attention, the words might be missed.
The boys in the class reacted as if they had witnessed the impossible—like Lin Daiyu uprooting willow trees or Lu Zhishen battling Transformers—overwhelmed with excitement and disbelief.
The girls around them smiled kindly, like doting aunts.
Even the chubby boy stood shocked, watching it all unfold.
The class monitor was bringing water to Brother Yue!

“Holy crap! This is like a little cow standing on its head—totally badass!”
“Damn, this is like a knife at the rear—my eyes are opened!”
The boys in the class were shouting excitedly, as if watching a sow dive off a bridge—astonished and stunned.
“Our class monitor doesn’t usually act like this!”
“Class monitor! She’s been possessed! The class monitor’s been possessed!”
“The way she’s blushing is like an old granny trying a new pose—I’m lost here.”
“If you keep screaming and spouting nonsense, I swear I’ll lock you in the training room for forty terrifying minutes,” Jiang Yiyun barked angrily.
The boys instantly fell silent.
Nearby, Liu Yu stared at the starkly contrasting class monitor Wang Xianglan and couldn't help but imagine Jiang Buyue’s married life with her.
“Marry a wife from Sichuan-Chongqing, enjoy a life of misfortune!”
Wang Xianglan was cute in appearance but was a complete shrew in personality—calling people ‘mountain-dwelling bastards’ with every other word and punching those she deemed demons and monsters.
Meanwhile, Li Shishi and Zhang Xiaowei kept their eyes fixed on Jiang Buyue, flames flickering in their gaze.
“No way! Jiang Buyue, if you dare accept that water, I won’t agree to your confession anymore.”
“If you dare take that bottle, I swear I’ll never talk to you again!”
“No way!”
Seeing Wang Xianglan like this, Jiang Buyue recalled countless times he had gathered courage to confess to Li Shishi—at the school gate, in class, by the river—only to be rejected repeatedly.
He looked at the shy Wang Xianglan, delivering water so openly, surely gathering all her courage. If he refused her, only he truly knew how painful that would feel.
Smiling softly, he said happily, “Actually, I’m quite thirsty. Thanks, class monitor!”
He took the bottle from Wang Xianglan’s hands.
The once silent boys erupted like the Monkey King returning home, shouting wildly.
Their cheers only made Wang Xianglan’s face flush deeper as she hurried back to the girls’ group, who burst into excited chatter.
Watching the lively group, Jiang Buyue knew clearly that tonight, in some girls’ circles, his reputation would be utterly ruined.
Nearby, Jiang Yiyun sighed, “This is youth.”
“Damn it! What does Jiang Buyue mean by this? He’s still pursuing me yet dares accept water from other girls!” Li Shishi’s face darkened with fury.

Afternoon dismissal...

Office.
“Jiang Buyue, last time you told me you were a Level 4 Quasi-Warrior, but your strength doesn’t seem to match that level.”
“Teacher Jiang, I have perfected the Shadow Step; it’s reasonable for my strength to be a bit higher, right?”
“Reasonable my foot! The Shadow Step is a movement technique. The force you displayed this morning and afternoon is definitely not that of a Level 4 Quasi-Warrior!”
“Tell me! What is your true cultivation level?”
Jiang Yiyun took a sip of his fizzy drink.
Jiang Buyue summoned his system panel and checked his cultivation progress.
[Level: Quasi-Warrior Rank 8 (81%)]
Jiang Buyue said, “Almost Quasi-Warrior Rank 9.”
“Hey, Mr. Jiang, I have something to tell you!”
At that moment, the discipline director approached Jiang Yiyun, seemingly about to say something.
Pfft!
Jiang Yiyun sprayed his fizzy drink everywhere.
“What did you say? Quasi-Warrior Rank 9?!”
Then Jiang Yiyun noticed Li Bin beside him, soaked from the spray.
“Director Li, what a surprise!”
Li Bin’s face was darker than a gorilla’s.
“Sorry, Director Li! Let me get you some tissues!”
He hurriedly stood to fetch some paper.
“What got you so excited just now?”
Though furious, Li Bin knew Jiang Yiyun didn’t mean it and suppressed his anger. At the same time, he noticed Jiang Buyue standing nearby.
Jiang Yiyun answered, “My student is almost Quasi-Warrior Rank 9. I’m a bit excited.”
Hearing this, Li Bin calmed down. The school already had two Quasi-Warrior Rank 9s, and even one full Warrior.
Jiang Yiyun’s excitement stemmed from being Jiang Buyue’s homeroom teacher—knowing his previous cultivation level and seeing him rise from the bottom of the class to a top student felt nothing short of incredible.
