To prevent her beloved car from being impounded, Bai Bing had no choice but to dial a certain person’s number once again. Having the authority but not using it would be pointless. Tonight, she had already used this favor twice, both times directly or indirectly involving Wang Zheng. If the first time was voluntary, the second was out of sheer necessity.

Less than ten seconds after hanging up, the traffic police called back. After a brief nod and a glance at the people in the car, the officer hung up. “Drive off!”

“If you cause me any more trouble, I swear I won’t go easy on you!” Bai Bing glared fiercely at Wang Zheng.

“Save your threats. I’ve lost count of how many times this has happened!” Wang Zheng replied with a grin, showing no hint of remorse.

Seeing Wang Zheng’s irritating expression filled Bai Bing with rage, yet she had no effective cure for this stubborn affliction. So, for now, she could only endure, hoping that one day inspiration would strike and reveal a way to set Wang Zheng straight.

By some coincidence, the car pulled into the TV station parking lot. As Wang Zheng stepped out, he saw an elderly man and a young woman emerging from an Audi A6 parked nearby. Because the cars were adjacent, their eyes met.

The deputy director and the head of the entertainment department?

Bai Bing recalled that during the last mid-year review meeting at the station, Su Xue had mentioned internal conflicts, specifically highlighting the deputy director and a two-timing department head. Wang Zheng didn’t know their exact names, but he remembered these two quite well—especially the woman. She wasn’t suitable as a wife, but as a one-night fling, she was decent enough.

Speaking of which, this woman and Lin Xiaolei belonged to the same category—ambitious women. But the difference was, this woman had methods. She was willing to use her body as leverage to smooth her path, making her a formidable figure. Lin Xiaolei, on the other hand, was pure to a fault, and it was unclear whether that was good or bad.

As Bai Bing once said, who doesn’t like a luxury car?

A new Maserati Quattroporte versus an older Audi A6. It was obvious which was better at a glance. The two cars were parked so close that the woman couldn’t help but glance at the Maserati’s sleek body before turning her attention to Wang Zheng stepping out of the car. She seemed to recognize him, furrowing her brows in thought. But since the deputy director was nearby, she only lingered briefly before following him into the station.

“Hey,” Bai Bing approached Wang Zheng, waving her hand in front of his face with a disdainful look. “You’re not seriously into that kind of trash, are you?”

Wang Zheng turned his gaze from the woman’s swaying hips to Bai Bing. “What’s wrong with that kind of trash?”

Bai Bing frowned deeply and sighed in disappointment. “When you bought the car, I thought you had taste. But now, it’s clear you’re utterly vulgar—irredeemably so.”

“Heh,” Wang Zheng chuckled, unfazed by the insult. “You don’t like women, so you don’t understand a man’s heart!” With that, he smiled and headed toward the TV center.

“Disgusting!” Bai Bing muttered under her breath. She had overheard from Su Xue about that woman’s infidelity, so naturally, she had no good feelings toward her. As for Wang Zheng, she was extremely wary, so she quickly followed, keeping a close eye on his every move.

Having been here before, Bai Bing knew the news department was on the sixth floor, so she led the way confidently. Through the transparent partition, Wang Zheng could clearly see the news team, including their boss—Liao Tong.

“How is she? Not vulgar, right?” Wang Zheng asked Bai Bing, who was trailing behind.

Bai Bing smirked and said nothing, but her face bore a look of disdain, her eyes filled with contempt—whether for Wang Zheng or Liao Tong, it was unclear.

It had been a while since Wang Zheng last saw Liao Tong, but she remained as mature, elegant, and dignified as ever, especially when focused on her work. No doubt she had a loyal following in Jinghua City. Yet, at around thirty, she was still single. Wang Zheng wondered what secrets lay behind that.

Could heaven be hinting at an opportunity for me? Damn, it’s too much to handle all at once! Lost in thought, Wang Zheng’s lecherous expression suddenly earned him a ruthless kick from Bai Bing.

“Ouch!”

A sharp pain shot from the sole of his foot, traveling along every nerve in his body like a lightning strike or a landmine.

Two words: excruciatingly soul-shattering!

Wang Zheng instinctively looked down at the culprit—Bai Bing’s high heel pressing down on his foot. No wonder it stung like hell. He raised his head and glared at her with mock severity. “If you don’t get your filthy foot off soon, I swear I’ll strip you naked and hang you up for punishment!”

“Ah?” Bai Bing looked surprised, then glanced down at her foot on Wang Zheng’s, quickly pulling it back with an apologetic smile. “Oops, sorry, didn’t see.”

Wang Zheng sneered and raised his fist. “I could give you a pair of glasses.”

“Forget it, I’m allergic to glasses!” Bai Bing laughed. Having been dealt with by Wang Zheng before, she was well aware of his tricks, especially his endless ways of tormenting women. So, before provoking him too far, she chose to retreat tactically.

“Hey, aren’t you Su Xue’s brother?” A clear, melodious voice came from behind Wang Zheng. Turning, he saw Liao Tong had quietly stepped out of the room.

“Miss Liao, you have a good memory!” Wang Zheng smiled. “I’m here to pick up Xiao Xue. Is she still busy? Not done yet?”

“You two really have a strong sibling bond!” Liao Tong smiled warmly. “By the way, Xiao Xue’s still in the studio; she’ll be done in half an hour. You can wait in the lounge. I’ll bring her the news script and let her know you’re here.”

“No need to tell her; she might get distracted. I’ll just walk around. You must be busy, Miss Liao.”

“Then, goodbye!”

“Goodbye!”

Watching Liao Tong leave, Wang Zheng couldn’t help but admire her as the epitome of a virtuous wife and good mother. But with half an hour to kill, what to do? He turned to Bai Bing. “Half an hour left. What do you plan to do?”

“Whatever you want. My mission is to follow you,” Bai Bing replied, inwardly scolding Wang Zheng’s habit of ogling every pretty woman.

“Is that so? Then this is easy…!” Just as Bai Bing waited for him to say more, Wang Zheng suddenly shoved her hard and dashed into the elevator that had just opened, waving and smirking, “See ya!”

Bai Bing was stunned, confused by his push. But when she saw the elevator doors closing, she instantly understood. Su Xue dashed forward, but she was too late—the elevator was already descending!

Trying to escape? No chance!

Seeing the nearby emergency stairwell, Su Xue ran down the stairs. The elevator didn’t stop on the fifth or fourth floors. Three floors down… where was Wang Zheng? She was certain the elevator hadn’t stopped at the fifth or fourth floors, and when she reached the third, the doors had just opened, but Wang Zheng wasn’t there.

Damn it!

The elevator doors opened on the eighth floor, and Wang Zheng stepped out.

Catch me? No way!

The eighth floor housed the entertainment department, and with the signposts at the entrance, Wang Zheng easily found the place he was looking for—and the woman he sought.

Through a half-closed door, he saw a woman writing at a desk. Wang Zheng quietly pushed the door open, tiptoed over, and snatched the pen from her hand, twirling it between his fingers.

“You…!” Lin Xuan frowned, startled by the sudden theft of her pen. She clearly remembered the man who had just stepped out of the Maserati. What was he doing here? What did he want? And what was with that smile?

“Who are you…?” Lin Xuan asked suspiciously.

Wang Zheng ignored her question, sat down, crossed his legs, and looked at the beauty before him. “Isn’t it a shame for a stunning woman in her twenties to be mixed up with an old geezer in his sixties or seventies?”

Hearing this, Lin Xuan’s face darkened instantly.

Trouble had arrived; goodwill was nowhere to be found.
