One woman possesses extraordinary analytical skills and a keen market insight, yet remains so pure as to be somewhat naive about worldly matters. The other woman is ambitious, adept at seizing opportunities and resourceful, but carries a cunning and deeply worldly heart.

One is academic, the other pragmatic. What might happen if these two women joined forces? Truly, a prospect worth anticipating.

“What did you just discuss with that woman?” Bai Bing followed closely behind Wang Zheng, her curiosity piqued. She let go of the matter involving the cactus but was determined to know exactly what had transpired before she arrived.

“If I told you I wanted her to be my mistress, would you believe me?” Wang Zheng walked on, smiling. The conversation had gone well today. From Lin Xuan’s expression, Wang Zheng had already grasped her personality. Barring unexpected circumstances, Lin Xuan would resign—ambitious women like her would never willingly spend their lives with a decrepit old man. Moreover, she had no reason to refuse Wang Zheng’s generous offer. Truthfully, no woman could refuse such terms.

Seizing the opportunity, even an ugly duckling can become a swan, and a pheasant can transform into a phoenix.

“I’ll tell Su Xue about this. I don’t think she’ll agree,” Bai Bing said, looking at Wang Zheng. “Surely your taste isn’t that poor?”

Wang Zheng stopped, fixing his gaze on Bai Bing. When she found herself caught off guard and wore a puzzled look, he said, “There are things you’re not supposed to know. No matter what tricks you use, I won’t tell you. I have principles, understand?”

Bai Bing shook her head. “I don’t understand.”

“Good. Sometimes it’s better to live like a fool,” Wang Zheng chuckled, then stepped into the elevator.

“You’re the fool!” Bai Bing snapped, following him in. But she didn’t give up her curiosity and decided that if Wang Zheng wouldn’t tell her, she would investigate on her own. After all, Bai Bing was no pushover.

After shaking off Bai Bing, Wang Zheng expected she would find him within five minutes; instead, it took her ten. This disappointment made Wang Zheng think she wasn’t as formidable as he imagined.

Arriving at the newsroom on the fourth floor, Wang Zheng didn’t go to the reception area but stood quietly outside a room, observing those inside. It was news hour, so everyone in the news team was focused on the matter. Although only Su Xue and Chu Jun appeared on camera, behind the scenes there were over a dozen staff busy at work. Watching Liao Tong directing the team, she indeed carried the air of a seasoned commander.

For some reason, Wang Zheng found himself increasingly captivated. Liao Tong’s demeanor at work was stunning, and there was something beyond mere beauty. He nudged Bai Bing gently and whispered, “You’ve been idle for so long, haven’t you? I’ll give you a task to keep you from being bored.”

“Speak,” Bai Bing replied, unwilling to take orders but curious about what he would assign her, so she didn’t reject him outright.

“Investigate this woman for me,” Wang Zheng said, nodding toward Liao Tong not far away. “In as much detail as when you investigated Lin Xiaolei.”

“No way!” Upon hearing this, Bai Bing immediately cut off all goodwill, revealing a woman’s intense vengefulness. She couldn’t help but despise Wang Zheng’s shameless conduct from the bottom of her heart. He had just been cozying up to the woman upstairs, and now he wanted to cozy up to Liao Tong as well? How promiscuous!

But the matter with Lin Xuan surfaced immediately in her mind. Bai Bing looked at Wang Zheng and said, “I’ll do it, but only if you tell me what happened with that woman upstairs—otherwise, no deal!”

“Are you threatening me?” Wang Zheng asked. This woman... had changed.

“This isn’t a threat, it’s a trade. Understand?” Bai Bing replied.

“Oh, then I won’t make this trade!” Wang Zheng said, turning his gaze back to Liao Tong.

“...!” Bai Bing frowned. She truly didn’t know whether to say this man had principles or no principles at all. No deal that quickly? Wang Zheng’s abrupt refusal disappointed her but also sparked another thought.

If she didn’t help him, wouldn’t he investigate on his own? He might end up with no information at all, while she could uncover more, perhaps even about the other woman. That settled it. Bai Bing changed her tone and said, “Since you’re begging, I’ll help you—but you owe me a favor, remember to pay it back!”

Wang Zheng said nothing, feigning indifference, but inside he was quietly amused. When you refuse, she won’t do it; when you accept, she insists on doing it—was she some kind of notorious troublemaker?

After the news ended, Su Xue and Chu Jun emerged from the studio. Seeing Wang Zheng, they waved from afar.

“Brother, what are you doing here?” Su Xue laid down her script and smiled brightly at Wang Zheng.

“I’m here to pick Chu Chu up after work,” Wang Zheng said with a smile.

Though they knew he was joking, the women’s reactions varied. Bai Bing naturally rolled her eyes at him, silently cursing his promiscuity, then shifted her gaze to Liao Tong, remembering the task Wang Zheng had assigned. Su Xue, however, pouted and clung to Wang Zheng’s arm, half sulking, half coquettish. As for Chu Jun, hearing Wang Zheng’s words made her cheeks flush—a trademark reaction for her.

A group of beautiful women together, each with different reactions and charms, quickly attracted a crowd, especially the male staff in the newsroom, whose eyes nearly popped out.

“Xue, Chu, since Mr. Wang is here to pick you up, you can leave now. I’ll handle the rest,” Liao Tong said from the side.

“Thanks, Sister Liao, we’ll be off then!” Su Xue replied cheerfully—never one to be overly polite.

Within minutes, Su Xue and Chu Jun had changed and left the television center. Just as Wang Zheng opened the car door, Su Xue suddenly darted forward and slid into the driver’s seat, smiling brightly and holding out her hand to Wang Zheng.

Wang Zheng immediately understood and placed the keys in her hand, then circled around to sit in the passenger seat.

“Ready, go!” Su Xue exclaimed excitedly, pressing hard on the accelerator.

Su Xue and Chu Jun had eaten a working meal around six o’clock and weren’t hungry. Since it was still early, Su Xue decided to drive the new car for fun, to experience the thrill of a high-speed chase.

Wang Zheng wasn’t particularly interested in cars; for him, as long as the seat was comfortable, that was enough. Originally, the foreign dealer recommended a Bentley, but Wang Zheng thought it too flashy and chose to downgrade to a Maserati Quattroporte instead. Though a Maserati might not seem subtle to ordinary eyes, it was certainly less ostentatious than a Bentley.

Once the car started moving, Su Xue, Chu Jun, and Bai Bing all became excited. Su Xue’s enthusiasm behind the wheel was obvious. Chu Jun thought the car looked much better than a Beetle. As for Bai Bing, despite having already taken two rides today, her craving for speed was far from satisfied. Sitting in the back, she appeared calm on the surface but was full of restless energy.

If you observed closely, Bai Bing’s right hand was constantly moving, and her foot tapped erratically on the floor—she was imagining herself driving.

Su Xue’s driving made the other two anxious.

Perhaps racing was a joy: admiring the scenery rushing past, feeling the wind whip by, watching tall buildings blur into the distance, and the cars ahead slip behind—all creating a thrilling sense of freedom.

Chasing the sun by day, chasing the moon by night, forging ahead to pursue all that is beautiful—what else but joy can such a pursuit bring?

However, Su Xue’s driving skills gradually came under scrutiny. Even Chu Jun, usually so demure before Wang Zheng, couldn’t stand it and kept instructing when to shift gears and when to accelerate. Bai Bing, caught up in the excitement and having raced twice already, wouldn’t tolerate an amateur driver and joined in giving directions.

Within half a minute, the three women were in a tangled dispute over how to drive properly. Simply put, Chu Jun and Bai Bing’s thirst for speed had been ignited by Su Xue’s driving, and seeing her less-than-perfect skills, they competed to take the wheel and demonstrate what real high-speed driving meant.

The car swayed and wobbled along the road, weaving irregular waves, forcing others to dodge out of the way.

Ahead was a large truck, its rear adorned with a tag featuring the Autobot emblem from Transformers, alongside the words: “Keep your distance. Don’t make me transform.”

Despite this, Su Xue showed no fear. Amid the chaotic shouting and directions from the other two, she charged forward.
